Yesterday MK wanted to make some healthy snacks to go in his lunch box for nursery so I helped him to make some high protein nut bars.  As per a few requests here's how we made it 🧡💪🏽 *We didn't measure any ingredients this time but if you want a full recipe with macros let me know and we'll sort that for you 🙃  Top tip: We used LOADS of ingredients because an almost 4 year old was in charge and wanted "A bit of everything".😏 You can reduce to 2 or 3 nuts/seeds as per your preference.  1. Preheat oven on a low heat 2. Combine all the ingredients and mix very well. 4. Pack VERY TIGHTLY in a lined Pyrex dish / backing tray 5. Bake thourouly (otherwise they won't set) around 40mins 6. Cool for about 1hr 7. Waking up with my chest and shoulders extremely sore, even though I trained them on Monday. I struggled to open my eyes this morning and laid in bed debating if I should go to the gym or not. Sleep sounds amazing especially with sore muscles. I eventually rolled my dead body out of bed and went to the gas station to get this.  Sometimes I put drink terrible things to wake me up in the morning. Did it work?? Nah. 200 calories, 34G of carbs and 20G of protein... all I can say is I got a decent workout in and some protein. Get honest with yourself. - True story: I spent $6 on this protein shake. In fact, in the past two weeks, I’ve spent a total of $18 on protein shakes that I could make at home. So, WHY do I waste my money? Well, stopping at the smoothie bar on the way out of the gym is far more convenient than taking the time to make a shake myself. In fact, I thought about prepping my shake before I went to bed, but I told myself I was too tired to deal with it. I thought about making my shake when I woke up before heading to the gym in the morning – but I told myself the blender would make too much noise that early in the morning. - So, yesterday morning as I was driving to work after leaving the gym, sipping my $6 shake, I started thinking about how my own shakes would be better. I’d use better ingredients, they’d taste better, and they’d be measured and proportioned just the way I like them. And, honestly, it’s not that I don’t have the time or energy to make my damn shake – it’s that I’m being lazy and don’t WANT to MAKE the time and invest in myself and my health! Not to mention, I’m a first time home owner and money is scarce! Every penny counts!! - I know a woman (I’m sure we all do), who’s excuse for almost everything is “I just don’t have the time for that”. Every time she says it, in regards to the gym, reading a book, dedicating a few minutes to meditation, or whatever the case may be that day – I think to myself, “Damn, her life must be so much busier, crazier, more hectic than mine!” - NO. The truth is, we MAKE TIME for the things we want or feel we need. This woman, DOES indeed have the time to better herself – she just chooses to occupy her time with other things. MACRO CHEAT SHEET ⠀ One of my good friends @syattfitness made this hot fire to help you stay on top of your shit. Don’t scroll past this Karen, keep reading! ⠀ 🦄Growing up, I was an awful student. Like, really bad. ⠀ ☕️Not rude or overly disruptive. Yes, one time I did a strip tease in Ms. Notaro's English class. But to be fair...it was really funny. ⠀ 🦄 Regardless, I wasn’t *that* disruptive. I just didn't do well sitting in a classroom memorizing gobbledygook. ⠀ ☕️Anyhoodle. ⠀ 🦄To get through school, I made "cheat sheets," like this, to condense the most important parts of a topic into a simple, easy to read picture. They weren't everything I needed to know. But they gave me a strong enough base to feel confident digging deeper and learning more on my own. ⠀ ☕️That's why I make so many "cheat sheets” here on IG. Because many have told me they're saving and using them for fat loss and muscle gain and strength and blibidee blahbidee bloop. ⠀ 🦄Anyway. ⠀ ☕️What we have here is your Macro Cheat Sheet. It covers the essentials of the 3 macronutrients (protein, carbs, fats) plus a few bonus facts alongside alcohol (which is, technically, the 4th macronutrient, sitting at 7 cals/gram). ⠀ 🦄Worth nothing, you'll see I included "daily needs" as a section in each post. First, LBM stands for "lean body mass." That's just how much muscle you have in your body, rather than going by your total body weight (which includes more than just muscle --> things like fat and bone and water and poop and playdough you ate as kid). ⠀ ☕️ Second, please do NOT let the numbers overwhelm you. My standard recommendation still applies --> hit your calories, hit your protein, and the rest will fall into place. Really. I mean it. As long as your calories and protein are in check, you're good to go. ⠀ 🦄Love you.

Pistachio pesto {makes 1-2 servings} mix in blender: - 1 cup spinach - 1 cup cilantro leaves - 1/4 cup pistachios - 1/4 tsp black pepper - 1/4 tsp salt - 2 garlic cloves - 2 tbsp olive oil - 1/2 tbsp lemon juice - 1/2 tbsp white wine vinegar 💫 22C/7F/28P {just noodles, cheese & tomatoes} 25C/44F/15P {just pesto sauce}
