Just a little update on #peagate for you all... swipe 😫 For anyone who didn’t see last night’s post, in a nutshell - bedtime was a combination of stubbornness, parental failure, and a shit load of peas. And at 3am, I was graced with the final cherry on the very shitty, parenting fail / pea debacle cake. Yes. We were awoken in the dead of night by the howls of a hysterical three year old who had just barfed an entire bowl of partially digested peas all over herself, and her bed. Brilliant. Abso-f*cking-lutely brilliant. And as much as I did sympathise with her - on closer inspection of the mountains of puke, I could quite clearly see she was in fact NOT hungry. Not going to lie - there was a bit of me that thought, even though I’d lost the battle - I’d kinda won the war... That was, until, she proceeded to vomit all over my bed until 6am. It was only at about 7am, while I was clinging to the side of my king size bed like Sylvester Stallone in Cliff Hanger while she snoozed horizontally between my husband and I, that the sheer enormity of her victory dawned on me... Yes - she may have vomited peas out of her nose - but she still managed to wangle her way into my bed, stayed up all night watching back-to-back episodes of Hey Duggee, AND got a day off from the childminders. Oh, and tonight - I’ve sent her to bed with a loaf of Mighty White (and a bucket). She’s an evil genius. #princessandthepea#parenting#parentingfail#peas#bedtime#evilgenius#three#motherhood#mum#mumlife#blogger#pbloggersuk#northwestblogger

This middle cat is me! Every single time it’s my turn. I love middle snuggles when I’m awake, I’ll sneakily steal turns during movies or couch cuddles. Yet, when sleeping I don’t want you breathing in my face, I’m a princess in the pea when it comes to sleep positioning, and every movement/sound wakes me up. I’m the worst middle sleeper ever. 😳😳😳. I like to be snuggled, I just can’t return it. Yet, because I love them both and know they value my snuggles, I still take my middle turn! -J (the best little spoon ever) 🖤 Artwork done for us by @dixxiemae 🖤 #sharingthemiddle#throuple#themiddlespotishot#princessandthepea#polyamorous#triad#polytriad#polyamorypride#polyamorousfamily

🙄 Princess Ellie and her blanket tower. This dog is such a diva. I still adore her even if I must fill the water bowl to the brim for her to drink it-no half empty bowls for this lil miss. You also cannot simply open the door and hope she’ll re-enter the house. Nope, she must be verbally invited (or announced 👸) to trot on in, tail wagging. These things were not taught, we have all had to learn how she likes things just so. It makes me often wonder just who she was in her previous life. 🤔🤣 #herroyalhighness#princessandthepea#diva#infinityeyeroll#ididntsignupforthis#yorkipoosofinstagram
I’ve just been outwitted by a three year old... We’re now on day 22PD (post dummy), and although she’s finally stopped asking for it - her incessant screams of “Dodie!!!!!!!!!!” until 10.30pm have been replaced with equally annoying screams of “I’m hungry!!!!!!” No you’re bloody not!! The kid eats more than me. We think she’s confusing the want of something in her mouth with hunger... The first week or so, we pandered to it - at least she wouldn’t have teeth like Mr Ed, right? Fine. Whatever. Have a slice of bread and go the f*ck to sleep. Now, I fear our pandering to her carb cravings has only fuelled the fire. ‘The GC’ ain’t got nothing on this ‘dry bread’ demanding diva. Tonight - I’d had enough. That was it. She was not winning. I was cutting her off. Well...let me tell you - if anyone’s on the look out for a Buffy the Vampire style ‘hellmouth’ - head to our house because one opened up here about an hour ago. Using my finest parenting skills - I went big....What could I offer her that she’d refuse? What food does she hate more than me right now...? “FINE!!!!!! Stop screaming. If you are THAT hungry, you can have a bowl of peas!” Ha ha! In your face kid. One point to mummy, zero points to you. Boom. A slow, creeping smile etched its way onto her face... the tears stopped. “Yes please mummy - I love peas!” FOR F*CK’S SAKE!!! And because I said she could have them, I had to bloody give them to her. She ate every single pea. ONE AT A TIME. It took an HOUR. So not only did she eat, but she still manages to stayed up late too. I give up. 😫. #princessandthepea#parenting#fail#peagate#hunger#hellmouth#hungergames#peas#mum#mumlife#daughter#diva#thegc#dummy#bedtime#blogger#blogger

Meanwhile, in Lyra’s rival kingdom, the prince of thorns and night is dying, and the only way for him to break his curse is to wed the princess of daylight—for she is his true equal. As Lyra finds her way back to her identity, an imposter princess prepares to steal her betrothed prince and her crown. To win back her kingdom, save the prince, and make peace with the land of the night, Lyra must be loud enough to be heard without a voice, and strong enough to pass a series of tests—ultimately proving she’s everything a traditional princess is not. • ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ - #booksofinstagram#booknerdigans#booksandflowers#booksarelife#bookstagram#bookish#candles#retelling#princessandthepea#discordtogethergroup#bookblogger#bookstagrammer#yabooks#yalit#bookworm#bookphotography#flatlay#bookmagic
The Princess and the Pea was the very first class plan that I wrote for Mini Mozart back in 2005. My eldest was not yet a year old and I had been taking him to music classes since he was six weeks old but had always been rather disappointed with the experience. I felt that I was getting more out of it than my son: It was so wonderful to get out in those early days when my sleep deprived eyes could barely connect with the pavement and meet other parents in the same position at the same stage. For my son though, the whole thing was a bit, well, meh! Nothing elicited the same look of wonderment in his eyes as when I took out my instruments at home and played to him. There’s something about interacting with a live musician and actually seeing how the music is produced that is magical for babies. I started inviting my NCT friends over to join in our musical sessions and it was them that encouraged me to set up properly.⠀ ⠀ I think Mini Mozart was fairly typical of a ‘Mumpreneur’ business in that it grew very organically: Each time my children needed me less and the early days of constant feeding, changing nappies and exhaustion subsided, I would open a new class inching bit by bit further away from my home patch in Highgate. In contrast, when my husband started his company he raised 7 figures of venture capital, hired a central London office space, a team of experts and got down to business in a very single-minded fashion.⠀ ⠀ I felt very lucky to be crafting what for me is a perfect work life balance, but was mindful as I wrote the class plans that by the time it is my son and daughter's turn to exercise their entrepreneurial skills, there hopefully won't be such a gender bias in how they set up their ventures. That’s why at the end of our version of Princess & The Pea, the Princess weighs up her options, and instead of accepting the Prince’s proposal, opts instead for setting up her own mattress company. ⠀ ⠀ What should she call it!?
