T H R E E ! We have three embryos! We are very happy and feeling very blessed. These will be grown out to 5 days with the hope of fresh transfer. Now it will be yet again left in the hands of the embryologists in hopes that these little embryos receive all the care they need to grow. *** We decided to leave the method of either IVF or ICSI to the embryologists (quietly with our preferred method being IVF) as we trusted they would make the right decision to which method would work well with our past history and the current state of our eggs and sperm. We were very happy to hear that these embies were fertilized by IVF. *** There are advantages and disadvantages to growing an embryo to day 5 and these I will share with you in another post. In the meantime, I would like to thank all those who have checked in on me, this means so much. A insatisfação vem sempre da insegurança não da qualidade do atendimento.  O profissional Enfermeiro tem o ensino superior (faculdade), ou seja, o mesmo nível de escolaridade de um profissional médico, o que os diferencia é o tipo e o nível da atenção, o que faz com que sejam completamente diferentes. Ambos os profissionais fazem especializações para se tornarem Obstetras ou Médicos/Enfermeiros de saúde da família, entre outras.  Na atenção ao Pré Natal, compete ao enfermeiro a atenção de baixo risco ou risco habitual, ou seja, quando a mulher e o bebê não tem nenhum problema de saúde como diabetes e hipertensão, por exemplo. Nesses casos o pré Natal deverá ser acompanhado pelo médico.  De toda forma, o Ministério da Saúde e a Organização Mundial da Saúde recomendam a todas as gestantes que tenham consultas com os dois profissionais, de maneira revezada, para uma maior qualidade no acompanhamento. I had the honor of teaching a prenatal exercise and relaxation class today 😍 Feeling wonderful. Nothing sad about creating and celebrating the creation of life. Congrats again to all the expectant mommas out there! Thank you for showing up for yourself and your growing baby. You are amazing!  This experience was so special to me as I am reminded of the reason I found the Yoga and Mindfulness road. Postpartum depression is real and more common than we might imagine and it can happen to anyone. My desire was to be the best mother that I could be and taking time to care for ourselves is critical for this to happen. A pele, embora ainda fina, enrugada e pálida, já tem uma camada de gordura e de músculos também sob ela, além de vasinhos capilares muito finos que já conferem um tom mais rosado à superfície! O bebê mede agora entre 30,5 e 33 cm e pesa cerca de 680 g.  O cérebro está adquirindo capacidades mais elaboradas com o córtex cerebral está se desenvolvendo em alta velocidade comandado por áreas do cérebro que se desenvolveram muito mais cedo.  Atualmente seu útero tem o tamanho de uma  bola de futebol, e naturalmente os demais órgãos estão sendo comprimidos, e você já pode sentir o efeito disso!  Chegou o momento de se preocupar com algumas condições que podem afetar a gestação.. O diabetes mellitus gestacional é um deles. Entre 24 e 28 semanas, seu obstetra solicitará o "TOTG", teste de tolerância oral à glicose, para identificar a doença que acomete de 2% a 5% das gestantes e que geralmente desaparece após o nascimento. O teste é simples: a glicemia é medida em jejum e após você deve ingerir uma solução rica em glicose e permanecer em repouso, a glicemia será medida mais duas vezes, na 1ª e 2ª hora após a ingestão. O tratamento envolve uma dieta especial e em alguns casos é necessário usar insulina! O diabetes é uma doença potencialmente grave, e deve ser bem cuidada até o nascimento do bebê.  Infecção urinária é outra doença comum na gestante e muitas vezes não demonstra sintomas inicialmente. Queimação, dor ou um cheiro desagradável quando você urina podem ser sinais desta condição. Also hey tiny wyatt 😍 .  I’ve struggled with my posture my whole life. I think it had something to do with how tall I was growing up.  I was always in the back row with all the boys in class pictures, while my cute little girl friends were on the first row. 💆‍♀️ I know my  posture had a big effect on my diastasis with my first pregnancy. .  Correct posture and Alignment is crucial when preventing and healing diastasis. When your body is in correct alignment and posture your muscles function how they are. And when you have poor posture and poor alignment, there are compensations like incorrect pressure causing a separation in your abdomen. .  Make sure your shoulders are back, down and relaxed, your head is in a neutral position and your hips are centered( not tucked in and not jutted out)  and your weight is in the balls of your Feet. .  Correct posture will help with that back pain you may be feeling the first few weeks of holding your newborn babe!
Does supplement  brand really matter?!⁣⠀ Yes, yes & YES! ⁣🌟⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ Quality and appropriate therapeutic dosages in your supplements are everything!⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ Especially in hormone balance and fertility cases where we spend a lot of time discussing how to reduce toxic load  and exposure to exogenous hormones. Through food quality and endocrine disruptors (i.e. pesticides, plastics, cosmetics, personal care product, cleaning products, etc...) Choosing a high quality supplement would be no exception!⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ AND they should contain absorbable forms of vitamins and minerals (i.e. methylated B vitamins) so you can be assured your body is metabolizing them efficiently!⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ I tell my patients to be extra careful when choosing their prenatal. For example, food dyes have no place in any supplement, let alone a prenatal (and yes there are some on the market that contain dyes in their non-medicinal ingredient list) 😮⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ In summary it is A-OK to be PICKY about your supplements! My suggestion would be to either spend the extra bit for the high quality product or skip that supplement all together and focus on good quality food with high vitamin content! If you are unsure about the quality of your supplements just ask your Naturopathic Doctor who has been trained in nutritional supplementation. RELACIÓN CERVIX ( cuello del útero) - garganta en el nacimiento . . . Existe una relación garganta, vagina y  cuello de útero que es propia de  nuestra fisiología corporal, se relacionan entre sí por estar “coordinados” por el sistema parasimpatico. Estos espacios se inhiben, se cierran  cuando se percibe,  ya sea real o imaginariamente ,peligro. Es un mecanismo de supervivencia creado para la evolución de la especie. Si hay peligro es preferible estar en un estado de alerta, de atención con el afuera  ante el posible agresor,  que  inhiba el sonido y se evite el nacimiento de la cría ( en caso de estar en trabajo de nacimiento). Este mecanismo de apertura inhibición también está activo en nuestra vida cotidiana, aprendemos inconscientemente a tensar y retener y podemos conscientemente dirigir esa apertura . Este hábito de retener y tensar  puede estar presente en el  nacimiento ya sea por costumbre aprendida o por la vivencia del dolor , la percepción de su sexualidad entre otros factores  La relación  garganta cervix, nos recuerda  en el nacimiento que 🔸Vocalizar, liberar la voz, la mandibula es por reflejo un apertura y relajación de suelo pélvico, vagina y por consiguiente cuello del útero. 🔸Para liberar la voz necesito transitar una respiración plena y presente. Estar en confianza con el entorno y con la sabiduría del cuerpo. 🔸 Estar en apertura y contacto con mis garganta, emitir sonidos me ayuda a transitar el dolor y requiere de pleno contacto con la mirada interna, por ende  no estar en un estado de alerta ni atenta a lo que pasa fuera. 🔸Los besos, la boca abierta, nos ayuda a liberar tensión y endorfinas. Son aliadas en las contracciones. ▪ ¿Qué inhibe la apertura del cuello del útero y aumenta la percepción de dolor en el nacimiento ? -Sentirse sola, no estar acompañada. NUTRITION & FEMALE FERTILITY – Week 1 of #nutritiontuesdays with @dietitianro & @tribabyfitness on pre- and post-natal nutrition. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ BMI – Body Mass Index is a strong predictor of fertility. It is suggested that a BMI of above 20 but below 30 gives better fertility outcomes. If you want to know more about BMI see my previous post. ⬅️ If you suffer from #pcos you may wish to reduce your total carb intake as this may help with your weight loss. Remember that sugars are carbs 👍🏼😉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Healthy Diet – a healthy diet, so one rich in whole grains, unsaturated fats (those from plants and oily fish), plant-based protein, fruit, vegetables and diets low in sugar have been linked to higher fertility and live birth rates. 🥑 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Red meat & iron - Red meat intake has been linked with poorer fertility outcomes, but it is suggested that iron could improve fertility. When reducing red meat, ensure you have other iron-rich foods in your diet eg nuts, beans, whole grains and dark green leafy veg. ❤️ Oily fish - Oily fish intake is thought to improve outcomes due to its omega-3 content. However, it is advised you do not eat more than 2 portions of oily fish per week due to the mercury content which can damage a developing baby’s nervous system and affect fertility. Do not eat shark, swordfish or marlin and do not have more than 4 tins of tuna per week if trying to get pregnant. 🐟 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Folic acid & Vitamin B12 – if you are trying to get pregnant you should take a 400 microgram folic acid supplement as this will protect the baby’s health but may also improve fertility. There is also evidence emerging about the positive role played by Vitamin B12 in promoting fertility. It’s Trainer Tuesday! This week we our highlighting our P3 Trainer, Natalie! She grew up training in classical ballet from a very young age and went on to major in Health & Exercise Science in College. Pilates has always been a big part of Natalie’s life, so she decided to make it her full time career. She is a STOTT Certified Trainer and has extensive experience in post-rehab Pilates and pre & post natal Pilates, along with many other continuing education classes. Yoga & Pregnancy (/Hold my bladder for an hour class?! Ya right!). Last night I walked into a “SWEAT” class and someone in the class quickly turned to me and goes “WOAH!” as I was taking off my sweater.  I quickly gave her a little smile and replied, “Yup, there’s a baby in there.” ☺️. She continued by saying “wow, you know this is a sweat class, right?” And then I simply answered, “Yup!” I started to tell her how I teach yoga and she goes “oh okay.” Like I had to explain to her...😏. . Yoga while being pregnant is a whole new thing for me.  I want to sweat and not just go to Prenatal classes.  I want to still feel challenged.  But of course, goodbye Baby Cobras and regular Vinyasas (blocks have been a game changer). Fancy poses like Birds of Paradise? Ha! I quickly realized last night as the entire class propped into Bird’s of Paradise, and me, well, mine as I’m trying to reach around the belly, was quite comical.  Nope, wasn’t going to happen!  Oh and I had to pee 30 seconds into the class while we were in Child’s Pose. 🤦🏻‍♀️ . The beauty of yoga is that you can still do it even when you’re working with something different.  You just have to modify.  The great part is that I still can do a lot, but for someone who rarely took the modifications, I’m now taking them 60% of the time.  And that’s OKAY, just different and something I have to do. . Trying to make it to as many classes as I can before baby boy arrives as I know it will be hard to find this much time once he’s here.  Also, it feels pretty badass to be in a class full of people doing similar poses as them while holding a little human inside of me. 🙌🏻😉☺️. I’m feeling all the mama feels right now as I’ve been creating my oldest daughters memory timeline in my new app. - I’m seriously on the verge of full blown tears as I reminisce those early weeks/months of motherhood. Everything was so new and unfamiliar to me. Yet, it was perfect and scary and chaotic and a rollercoaster all at the same time. - She’s almost five now and I cannot believe that it’s been that long. Thank God I found this app to store my memories in and be able to share with my friends and family. I’m about to go order a book for each year of her life too and start an Encyclopedia of each child! - Does anyone else use the @momatuapp ? It’s a free digital timeline app and super simple to use. So you might be wondering why am I so passionate about pre-conception preparation. Why do I care so much about helping women and men prepare their bodies, minds and homes for creating a baby?⁣ ⁣ I’ve made pre-conception preparation my focus after working with so many women who’ve struggled to conceive in a timely manner after spending years on birth control, after their second or third child and after intense bouts of stressful life events. ⁣ ⁣ A patient of mine, newly married, had always had a gut feeling that her hormones were off. Before birth control her periods were sporadic, sometimes she would go 90 days without a period. She took birth control for 10 years to help normalize her cycles but she wondered what would happen when she stopped the pill. The client stopped her birth control but 3 months later, she still hadn’t gotten her period back. When she discussed her desire to conceive and her concerns about her hormone levels, her OB/GYN refused to run hormonal lab testing and told her that after an entire YEAR of trying unsuccessfully, only then would they begin lab testing and imaging. ⁣ ⁣ She had no idea how to predict when she was ovulating, what she should be eating and what prenatal she should be taking. Months went by and sure enough, no luck. She grew anxious, frustrated, depressed and felt that she was broken. Her body wasn’t doing what she thought it should do.⁣ That’s when she sought out integrative care, we helped her order her own urinary hormone testing to and helped her understand what her lab results meant. She changed her diet and lifestyle with her husband. Together they eliminated toxins in their home, increased their nutrient status, found their fertility window and fertility signs and sure enough….
