Let’s learn about plastics! This triangle doesn’t always mean “recyclable.” It is called a RESIN CODE, and there are 7 of them. The numbers differentiate the types of material the product is made of, which all have particular uses, potentially chemical leaching properties & recyclability. . . . 3️⃣ Number 3, PVC, known as the POISON PLASTIC. This plastic is MALLEABLE, the type you will find in cling wrap, toys, shower curtains, and clear food packaging. Let’s just say, STAY AWAY! This plastic is ❌ NOT RECYCLABLE. It has also been found to contain PTHALATES and toxic chemicals that leach when heated. Ironically found in a lot of children’s toys, “PVC’s lifecycle uses and releases highly hazardous chemicals including dioxins and furans, vinyl chloride, ethylene dichloride, phthalates, mercury and other chemicals. PVC chemical plants pollute the air and groundwater of surrounding communities. Need I say more?! . . . There are plenty of new alternatives to things such as plastic cling wrap, and cleaner, chemical-free children’s toys on the market (yes, made of plastic, that is durable and re-purposable; donate your toys!) I haven’t used cling wrap in over a year, and have found NO NEED to use it, which means you can do this too! If you want to wrap, try a @beeswrap , or a #knotwrap found at @lushcosmetics. PVC should perhaps only be used for construction materials, and in any case, should be soon replaced with a material that is safer for us and our planet. . . . Estudos mostram que em até 2050 os oceanos terão mais plástico do que peixes. É preciso urgente repensar as embalagens. By 2050 our oceans will have more plastic than fishes. Plastic packing must change. #repense
Sometimes birds use fishing line (that can take aprox 600 years to break down 🤓) to build nests, and this can also have fatal results when the young hatchlings become entangled in the line as they grow and get more active. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you use fishing line bins, make sure you put them deep down or just take them home and dispose of them responsibly. Same for the hooks which we also found on the ground 🙄😤. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #desperdiciocero#ceroresiduos#microplastic#plasticpollution#plasticfree#zerowaste#environment #plastic#fishing#pesca#desperdiciozero#zerowaste #ocean#pollution#noplastic#nature#plasticocean#plasticwaste#savetheplanet#beachcleanup#oceans#savetheocean#saveourseas#beachclean #saynotoplastic#singleuseplastic #sea#nowaste#seaanimals

Divers have visited the bottom of the Great Blue Hole - a 120m deep giant sinkhole in Belize, for the first time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Formed 10,000 years ago it's an environment that is so hostile that even deep sea crustaceans cannot survive the pressure and oxygen starvation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And do you know what they found there? Plastic 😢 ~ p |@emmett_sparling #plasticpollution#bethechange
1/3 Mindfulness: the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something. * * Most people lack this trait. Something so simple, yet so difficult to act upon. It makes us cringe when people do not even acknowledge their consumption. Not recycling. Not watching what they throw out. or being...mindful of the Earth 🌎♾ #plasticpollution#endplastic#environmentalist#earthub#mindfulness
2/3 If I gave you $1000 in ones, would you toss one in the garbage each day unknowingly until it was all gone? No. Then why are you doing it with plastic? It’s not going anywhere. Recycling is not good enough, we need to reduce plastic use completely. 💰 💨💸 #plasticpollution#endplastic#mindfulness#earthub#reduce#reuse
🍁(20/31) Tantangan 31 Hari Tanpa Sampah Plastik 🍁 . Keep It Real . Jadi ceritanya tetangga sebelah rumah saya itu jualan aneka cemilan, dari pizza, makaroni, cilok, seblak, mpek2, dll. . Meski rumahnya sebelahan tapi kalo saya pesan sesuatu pastinya makanannya dikemas sedemikian rupa sehingga bukan menghasilkan sampah plastik lagi, tapi udah kaya nabung plastik. . Akhirnya saya kalo tiap order sesuatu sekarang minta langsung disajikan dalam mangkok atau alat makan lainnya yg real saja. Walhasil sekarang menyajikannya langsung dianterin pake nampan. . Doakan semoga istiqomah y para reader 😉🌹🌱. . 📷 2nd pict by google. . 🌿Salam Diet Plastik #sayapilihbumi31days#zerowasteid31days#sustainabilitystarwithyou#belajarzerowaste#choosetorefuse#dietkantongplastik#zerowastehome#zerowastelife#zerowasteliving#zerowastelifestyle#zerowastekitchen#sustainableliving#sustainablelifestyle#traditionalmedicine#zerowasteid#zerowasteindonesia#noplastic#plasticpollution#plasticfree#socialmovemen#l4l#keepitreal#diy
Coral reefs are one of the planets most dense and diverse ecosystems on the planet, Reefs are home to hundreds of different specie fish , sponges , corals , mollusks and turtles! That’s why it’s important to look after our reefs💚 #climatechange and #waterpollution is damaging our waters and disturbing the natural cycle of our reefs and the magnificent ecosystem. Though they cover only 0.2 percent of the ocean’s floor, scientists estimate that nearly one million species of fish, invertebrates, and algae can be found in and around the world’s reefs.

Did you know only 2-3% of all cancers are due to genetics? Cited source 👀 this book "The China Study." The most comprehensive study in nutrition ever conducted. It's a huge meta analysis done by multiple scientist over years of studies on the effects of animal consumption. - This study didn't start to debunk animal consumption, the main author came from a dairy farm family who originally was helping fight hunger with animal protein in the Philippines, what started as an innconet observation grew into a huge study that's paved the way for scientific evidence that a plant based diet is indeed the healthiest lifestyle for an abundance of reasons. - Of course nothing is 100% guaranteed, other variables can come into play. Environmental circumstances - the products we use, the type of foods (organic vs. Non organic) we choose & things such as radioactive emissions all can effect our health. - We must remember we are complex machines. What we consume + what we put on our bodies effects our enzyme + hormone functions. We cannot perform optimally if we are not treating our bodies well. Even our eyes are receptors for how our brains work - what we see, read + scroll on social media molds how our brain operates. - The best way to treat our bodies well is by treating the planet well, because without it we have nothing. Take care of Mother Earth & she will take care of you 🌍🌱 #educationiskey

The numbers differentiate the types of material the product is made of, which all have particular uses, potentially chemical leaching properties & recyclability. . . . 2️⃣ Number 2, High Density Polyethelyne, sounds simply delicious, doesn’t it? It is used mostly in milk jugs (not sure if people still buy these!), shampoo and conditioner bottles, trash bags, piping, and detergent bottles. You guessed it, this plastic is mainly made to PREVENT leaching through exposure to cold or heat. This plastic is yes, also RECYCLABLE, and since stronger, will most likely get recycled more than its predecessor, resin code 1️⃣. HOWEVER, the more you recycle a plastic, the thinner it will become. This plastic can get recycled into a plastic bottle, which will probably get re-cycled or broken down into a micro plastic ❌ The concerning product of a sometimes number 2 plastic is THE SHOPPING BAG. This type of product is usually not accepted for recycling. This type of product is a micro-plastic nightmare. . . . One of the more durable, reusable plastics out there, it is not the worst. Yet still we find ourselves with recycling programs that will recycle much less than ideal of these products. Our world is full of throw-away products made with this material, and as Natural Resources Canada (2018) states, “greenhouse gas emissions are generated primarily as a result of energy consumption in the plastics processing industry.” Wonder why it is -30 degrees and then +5 degrees the next day? Perhaps climate change is a real thing, resulting from a terrible amount of co2 emissions in plastics manufacturing. 🏭 . . . Consider my earlier posts when it comes to grocery bags, and try reusable alternatives. Please also ensure you WASH OUT any inside liquids in your durable plastics upon recycling, else they are contaminated, and will end up in
Marine litter has been a problem for a long time, and it is onyl getting bigger 💧.The cost for the damage incurred on marine ecossytems is at least USD13 billion... annually! In addition, marine litter harms over 600 species, of which 15% are endangared 🐟 🐬 and by 2050 it is estimated that 99% of all seabirds will have ingested plastic 🦆🐧 #wastemanagement#cleanoceans#plasticpollution#biodiversity

The numbers differentiate the types of material the product is made of, which all have particular uses, potentially chemical leaching properties & recyclability. . . . 1️⃣ Number 1, a commonly found plastic, called PETE, is used mostly in plastic water bottles, pop bottles, and the other thinner-type packaging. This plastic is yes, RECYCLABLE, however, found in most products that are categorized as SINGLE USE. ❌ This is a thin-type plastic that tends to be CHEMICAL LEACHING if re-used too many times, has been in heat, or sitting on a shelf. This also results in number 1 plastic being recycled perhaps once or twice, since the type of plastic is too thin to re-use. This is why you will find most of the Ocean now “flooded” with water bottles. How IRONIC. . . . The health of the ocean is the health of our planet, which is in turn, the health of your body: ❗️“One study that looked at 63 brands of bottled water produced in Europe and Canada found concentrations of ANTIMONY (the chemical used in manufacturing) that were more than 100 times the typical level found in clean groundwater (2 parts per trillion).” 🚰 yikes ! 🤢 . . . A filtered water (Brita) option is looking rather appealing now, right? Cara Delevingne nominated Miley to participate in her #myecoresolution challenge. Hoping Miley joins! Swipe to join yourself 💪🏼 — «The foundation and me as an artist or as an actress isn’t separate. I think in the celebrity world, it seems like you’re supposed to have a foundation and that’s kind of separate from you. I’m a vegan, so all of my outfits are always vegan. No leather, no fur, none of that, and so, really just promoting human rights, animal rights, environmental rights by everything that I’m doing.. everything I’m saying. For me now being so in love with the ocean, it’s even more important for me to talk about us really becoming responsible with the way we treat the planet.» — @mileycyrus (2017) — (I only added the eco challenge logo to this pic so the challenge would catch people’s attention right away. would be amazing if some would join) @myecoresolution . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #mileycyrus#miley#plasticpollution#useyourvoice#rolemodel#artist#art#artwork#love#musician#inspiration#takeaction#human#humanity#compassion#instagram#kindness#speakup#useyourvoice#planetearth#vegan#veganism#vegans#crueltyfree#savetheocean#environment#climate#climatechange#gogreen
