Grilled cheeze yesterday in Edinburgh from @faceplantfoods at a Christmas market. I had their own in house vegan cheeze, and added jalapeños & pickles. Absolutely delicious, would go as far as to say this was the best grilled cheese I’ve ever eaten, and for £4 ! (Swipe for their sign and other vegan options)
Keeping it simple for #meatlessmonday with a warm quinoa salad. Sauté some chopped courgettes, carrots and broccoli in Avocado oil until tender. Pop a sachet of @merchantgourmet Red & White quinoa in the microwave, mix it through with veg and finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon, fresh mint & basil leaves, salt & black pepper to taste, and crumbled feta cheese or tofu. Dinner, done! 🥑💛
Nothing like a bit of Pilates to start the week off well. Considered a weight bearing exercise to improve muscle strength, flexibility and balance, it's a class I've enjoyed for many years. However, being continually conscious of my own bone health, alongside nutrition, I'm finding ways to build in more strength work. Whatever your age, whether you are in your 20s, 30s, 40s or 50 and beyond, strength training is hugely beneficial. In your 30s as metabolism and bone density begins to drop slightly. Strength and conditioning training can help you to get through the physical changes your body is undergoing. In your 40s we can experience a muscle mass loss of 3 to 8% every decade after 30 which may lead to weight gain and slower metabolism. Weight training may help prevent the middle age spread as lifting weights can speed up metabolism. In your 50s, the average age for menopause is 51, leading to lowered bone density, but strength training can help to reverse this by preserving bone marrow so that there is less risk of fractures associated with osteoporosis. Love your bones! Strength training using both your own body weight and weights could be a game changer.
#coldbrew as part of my #warmup Woops - that was straight concentrate today...🤣 (see second pic) - - #coffee is the only #preworkout I will ever recommend to my clients. While there are a lot of different powders and drinks out there, my motto remains the same: keep it simple, keep it natural. Many of those other options contain the caffiene, but also a slew of other questionable ingredients, sweeteners, additives, fillers, and gunk. Coffee and tea bring the caffiene and also contain some antioxidants which have a positive effect on heart health. - - Studies have shown that coffee can help an athlete perform better in several ways. It has been shown to: 💪🏻increase speed and power output, 💪🏻improves the length an athlete can train, and 💪🏻assist the athlete in resisting fatigue. In moderate doses, it can offer health benefits, including boosts to memory, concentration, and mental health. - - Try not to exceed the recommended daily amount of 400mg (about 4 cups of coffee) or those benefits might start to be overshadowed by issues like headaches, nausea, tremors, hyperventilation, or agitation. I usually have a cup in the morning and then another cup about 30 minutes before a workout. - - So enjoy that cup of Joe this fine Monday morning and know that it can be a great way to perk you up, or pump you up!!! - #coffeebuzz#coffeeislife#keepitnatural#strongwomen#girlswhoworkout#plantbased#plantpowered#veganathlete#climber#rockclimber#womenwhoclimb

A simple question that usually gets people who more than often aren’t all too interested in health, suddenly throwing out words like “protein!” and “nutrients”. The fact is we don’t need to eat any animals. We can get everything we need from a plant based diet 🌱 . Where do you get your protein from? 😋 .

they do say chicken soup is good for the soul and I’ve gotta say it gave me all the cozy feels, like a warm scarf for your belly🧣 •2 tsp olive oil •2.5 cups @365bywholefoods egg noodles •1 cup chopped carrots 🥕 •1/2 cup chopped celery •8 cups @365bywholefoods low sodium chicken broth (I like using low sodium so I can add my own and have better control; I despiiiiise a super salty soup that has to be watered down!) •1 @365bywholefoods rotisserie chicken, shredded •2 cloves garlic, chopped •1/4 cup chopped onion •two handfuls @bright_farms local baby spinach •1/2 tsp dried basil •1/2 tsp dried oregano •1 tsp sea salt (or to taste) •1 tablespoon garlic powder • a healthy dash of black pepper when served (can become carcinogenic when cooked at high temps so it’s always best to add it at the end) simmer olive oil + veggies for 5-10 minutes Boil egg noodles in a separate pot, drain and set aside Add in seasoning, chicken, and broth to veggies in stock pot Bring to a boil Add in egg noodles Simmer on medium-low at least 25 minutes, adding spinach during the last 5 minutes serve into bowls + top with black pepper Grab a cozy spot and enjoy 🥣 what’s your fav food to help you warm-up? #detroitbrusselsharder
If you’re going to succeed in anything you must develop militant discipline. Motivation is based on good feelings. Militant discipline is based on mission. Once you define your mission your feelings don’t matter. You put in the work regardless of circumstances. Stay hard! 💪🏾 Stay Plant 🌱 strong 💪🏾 #theveganbourne
would you believe me if i told you that since going plant-based, i’ve developed a bit of an obsession with pizza? 😋 that’s right, once i cut out dairy and meat, i enjoyed pizza even more! i think it’s a common misbelief: if you go vegan or plant-based, you have to give up everything you love, like pizza. well i am here to tell you, that is far from the truth! you can still enjoy the foods you are familiar with that you love, maybe even more so. pizza feeds the soul in every way imaginable. warm, delicious and everything in between! this 🍕 VEGAN HAWAIIAN PIZZA 🍕 is definitely a game-changer! so many different flavours… sweet, spicy, and savory, coming together to bring this round treasure.// pineapple is one of my favourite fruits ever, it’s between that and avocados. the two are always battling for the number one spot. i asked you guys on my ig story recently if you are pro or anti pineapple pizza and, as expected, the group was divided right down the middle. apparently, pineapple 🍍 is a very polarizing pizza topping! i’m pro-pineapple all the way. i love the sweet and savoury combo of fresh fruit with italian spices and tangy tomato sauce. these pizza is so good that I think it can convert even the most fervent pineapple critic. i remember the very first time i had hawaiian pizza i thought it would taste weird because “who puts fruit on pizza?” then i had it and it blew my freaking mind! 🤯 then i discovered that there’s a debate on this topic. well the debate is over people, pineapple goes on pizza! can you believe that there are some people that don’t agree with this, i don’t understand people lol.// i can absolutely confirm that this vegan pizza is better than any i’ve had in a restaurant 😘 it is a crispy thin-crust delicious pizza base made up from scratch. the tomato sauce is piled on thick and then i topped it with pineapple, tofu “ham” and vegan cheese. let’s talk about this pizza crust for a sec. my homemade
It’s the last day of Chanukah 🕎 , and I finally got around to making some vegan latkes! These ones are sweet potato latkes. They’re lightly pan fried in coconut oil, and topped with vegan sour cream and green onion. I was surprised at how simple they were to make!
