I kinda have an obsession with doing pushups lol it's a skill I used to be able to not do at all and now that I can do several of all variations it just always makes me feel so powerful 💪🏼 I do push-ups every single day. Keeping it simple for #meatlessmonday with a warm quinoa salad. Sauté some chopped courgettes, carrots and broccoli in Avocado oil until tender. Pop a sachet of @merchantgourmet Red & White quinoa in the microwave, mix it through with veg and finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon, fresh mint & basil leaves, salt & black pepper to taste, and crumbled feta cheese or tofu. Nothing like a bit of Pilates to start the week off well.  Considered a weight bearing exercise to improve muscle strength, flexibility and balance, it's a class I've enjoyed for many years.  However, being continually conscious of my own bone health, alongside nutrition, I'm finding ways to build in more strength work.  Whatever your age, whether you are in your 20s, 30s, 40s or 50 and beyond, strength training is hugely beneficial.  In your 30s as metabolism and bone density begins to drop slightly. Strength and conditioning training can help you to get through the physical changes your body is undergoing.  In your 40s we can experience a muscle mass loss of 3 to 8% every decade after 30 which may lead to weight gain and slower metabolism. Weight training may help prevent the middle age spread as lifting weights can speed up metabolism.  In your 50s, the average age for menopause is 51,  leading to lowered bone density, but strength training can help to reverse this by preserving bone marrow so that there is less risk of fractures associated with osteoporosis.  Love your bones! Strength training using both your own body weight and weights could be a game changer.

In moderate doses, it can offer health benefits, including boosts to memory, concentration, and mental health. - - Try not to exceed the recommended daily amount of 400mg (about 4 cups of coffee) or those benefits might start to be overshadowed by issues like headaches, nausea, tremors, hyperventilation, or agitation. This make-ahead brekkie can be served warm or cold.  And as per my morning meal mantra, it is absolutely loaded with antioxidants, fibre, healthy fats, and protein. . Quinoa is often referred to as a grain, but it is actually a gluten-free seed.  It is rich in antioxidants, fibre, and vitamins & minerals including magnesium, zinc, and B vitamins. Comfort zones are great, but in order to grow you need to step outside of them once in a while 💪  It’s no secret that I like long distance running. I love spending 3, 4, 5+ hours out running on the trails. But because I feel so comfortable in the ultra marathon world, I often neglect the opposite end of the spectrum, that top-end, fast-twitch, balls-to-the-wall racing speed 🏃🏻‍♀️🔥 I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and focusing on the 5K distance for a while. Happy Monday everyone!! I can’t believe how close to Christmas we are 🎄❄️🎄😍 Today I have Anthony’s holiday concert at school, and I can’t wait🥰 He’s dressed in the most handsome button down shirt and dress pants 😍 I hope I can get a picture of him later since this morning was too rushed 😋 I have a huge list of things I need to accomplish this week. Wrapping presents, making gifts, planning out food for My sister @spanishsabores and my brother in law who will be staying with us next week 🙌🏻 So much to look forward to, but I have to be super organized 😬  Here are some photos of our #vegan #glutenfree cut out cookies! They came out great and so easy to roll out and make shapes with the kids. Now we need to decorate 👌🏻 Details -Cacao cinnamon cookies 🎄🎄 2 ¼ C flour ( I used gf )  2 tsp cinnamon  2 Tbs cacao 1 tsp baking soda  Pinch of sea salt  Wisk until combined  1 chia egg( or flax)  ½ C melted coconut oil  ¾ C coconut sugar  ⅓ C cashew butter ( or any nut butter)  ¼ C pure maple syrup 1 tsp vanilla  Wisk until nicely combined  Add wet to dry and mix until combined  Knead lightly and form into a disk Wrap in plastic wrap and put in the fridge for 30-45 minutes  Preheat oven to 325 degrees F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.  Roll of dough in between 2 pieces of parchment paper.  Cut out shapes  Bake 10-12 minutes Let sit 10 minutes and then transfer to wire rack.  Enjoy! they do say chicken soup is good for the soul and I’ve gotta say it gave me all the cozy feels, like a warm scarf for your belly🧣 •2 tsp olive oil •2.5 cups @365bywholefoods egg noodles •1 cup chopped carrots 🥕 •1/2 cup chopped celery •8 cups @365bywholefoods low sodium chicken broth (I like using low sodium so I can add my own and have better control; I despiiiiise a super salty soup that has to be watered down!) •1 @365bywholefoods rotisserie chicken, shredded •2 cloves garlic, chopped •1/4 cup chopped onion •two handfuls @bright_farms local baby spinach •1/2 tsp dried basil •1/2 tsp dried oregano •1 tsp sea salt (or to taste) •1 tablespoon garlic powder • a healthy dash of black pepper when served (can become carcinogenic when cooked at high temps so it’s always best to add it at the end)  simmer olive oil + veggies for 5-10 minutes  Boil egg noodles in a separate pot, drain and set aside  Add in seasoning, chicken, and broth to veggies in stock pot  Bring to a boil  Add in egg noodles  Simmer on medium-low at least 25 minutes, adding spinach during the last 5 minutes  serve into bowls + top with black pepper  Grab a cozy spot and enjoy 🥣 what’s your fav food to help you warm-up? #detroitbrusselsharder
