Do you want a strong, stable back? Make sure your: . . ✅lats are firing . . ✅spine is in the neutral zone . . . The PFX harness does a great job letting you know when you reach too far/lose spine-neutral as you can detect the moment you lose contact between the shaft and the low back. Try adding the mini bands into your deadlift warm up. You will either fire your lats to stabilize you spine, or you will suffer the consequence of gravity by falling on your face. The best part is when you go to pick up a bag of groceries later in the day and feel your lats fire! TRY THIS!!

Sure, stretching isn’t necessary before sport, but priming movements through movement prep may better set you up to own your sport. 🤟🏼 . . 3rd and final race for the #patrickriddellaprilrunseries I am happy to say I completed all 3 races but I really struggled today the side and behind my left knee felt pretty painful I pretty much had to walk the last 3k of the races but I still fought through the pain and ran to the finish line in the last 500 meters or so. I may have to take a short break from running but I’ll come back stronger then before and crush some more personal best. Taking a break and resting up is never a bad thing! Legs + core today was such a good one 🔥 . When I was breastfeeding my daughter, I dislocated both my knees. I did physiotherapy and kept up with the exercises ... until I didn’t 🙈 . I’ve noticed lately that my knees have felt less stable, and my form is suffering for certain movements. TRX pistol squats were a physio exercise I was doing 3-5x a week when I was feeling my best, so I decided to throw them into my circuit today. If you don’t have access to a TRX, you can use a bench/sturdy chair and do bench pistol squats. Something to assist you 😎 . Can you do full pistol squats? It’s always been a goal of mine but I haven’t really spent a great deal of time working on them. ⭐️EXERCISE TEMPO FOR TENDINITIS⭐️ by @healyourpain_ - 💥The research has shown that slow and controlled contractions with a heavy load is best for chronic tendinitis (tendinopathy is what it is actually called when chronic). The goal is to put as much tension on the tendon as possible without inducing a flare up - 🌪3 seconds during the eccentric and 3 seconds during the concentric is a good starting pointing point with 0 seconds spent at end range of motion as this can compress the tendon too much. A weight must be picked in which 3 sets of 10-12 repetitions can be performed with fatigue occurring at reps 10, 11 and 12. - 🔥When you become stronger, tempos can be increased (example: 2-0-2-0) and eventually progressed to more explosive movements and faster paces - ‼️This is not medical advice. The last few days have truly been amazing as I started volunteering and doing my internship at the Centre Philou. My first day was special. I didn’t know what to expect. I got there, 8:00 am Saturday morning, and I introduced myself to the kids. Aged from 4-5 years old to 20, the children with multiple disabilities staying there for the weekend were getting ready for breakfast. I joined them and gave a hand to the educators. At the end of the day I had changed diapers, brushed teeth, played games and prepared a desert with the kids.  On Monday, it was all different. I met with the specialists working there for the Paprika Program. They explained to me the different therapies they offer and I was able to observe some of them. The kids were endearing. The same kids were there on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday and Thursday, it was five other children that were staying at the Centre.  I was lucky to observe a physiotherapist and an occupational therapist during the week. I managed to collect some data for my research question.  Can’t wait to go back tomorrow and play with the kids again. TEACHING THE CORE BRACE . One of the easiest ways to increase performance in training is to learn to brace your core really well and increase torso stiffness. . I approach it in different ways with different patients and in different scenarios. . I'll touch on a few of them here. . When working with someone who isn't injured and when the goal is to maximally increase torso stiffness, I really like the cue of thinking about getting punched in the stomach. I've used cues of pull your ribs down, tighten the abs, lift your belt buckle, and more as well, but most routinely come back to the "punch" as my go to. . One thing I have found to be useful here is that rather than having them think about taking a punch square on, I tell them to think more about getting punched in the side. . This subtle change in the cue is something I've found to help those who tend to just crunch down rather co-contracting the abs, obliques, and back as we want. . For those that have trouble maintaining their braced position during movement, I really like the kettlebell back squat. . This is a really unforgiving movement and gives a lot of good feedback for the person to work with. They know pretty instantly if they have it or not. . And if I'm working with a patient in pain, it can go down a bunch of different routes. Sometimes we focus on bracing as they find it to be a good symptom modifier. . If the patient is hypervigilant towards staying stiff all the time, I may try to get them to relax more and not brace so much. And other times I don't even approach the subject. Just depends on the person. . If we do focus on it, I tend to work on dialing the intensity up gradually. Rather than thinking about getting punched, I'd opt for pushing my fingers lightly into the stomach and having the patient push back against me and dialing it up to a tolerable level. I've also put patients supine and placed a light weight on their stomach and had them stiffen against it. Both work really well. . There
