Resultados da pesquisa: Com um acompanhamento médio de seis anos, constatou-se que homens e mulheres de meia-idade ou idosos (entre 41 e 85 anos) e com potência muscular máxima no movimento de remada alta cujos resultados se situavam dentre os 50% para a faixa etária e sexo tinham menor mortalidade. Quando eram comparados aqueles com resultados entre 25 e 50% dos melhores, a taxa de mortalidade aumentava de quatro a cinco vezes. Já aqueles com menor potência de toda a amostra, nos 25% inferiores, foi observada uma mortalidade entre dez a 13 vezes mais do que aqueles com resultados dentre os 50% melhores. . Não é necessário ter resultados espetaculares em potência muscular máxima, o benefício em redução de mortalidade já é percebido se está acima da mediana — destaca Claudio Gil.
