We have some random hedges at the front of our house! Initially I wasn’t sure that I liked them. However when we viewed the house the previous owners (who had lived there for 40 years) showed us some old photographs that they had acquired which show that the hedges have been there for a very long time! We could cut them back but we have decided that the hedges will stay. #periodhomes#periodhouse#periodgarden#nihomesandlifestyle#nihomes#ournihomes
Tomorrow marks my one year anniversary of living in Tasmania! ~ Oatlands has brought such joy into my life - living in the country in a georgian home, surrounded by gorgeous views and people - it's more than I dreamed of. I can't wait for the next year; to watch my garden grow and watch all the exciting developments in our little village, get the new kitchen in, the bookcases built, the shed clad, new lights, fix the roof, patching the lime render and painting the inside walls...the list goes on and on! I do so love this place though and the peace it has brought me. Every now and then I still get a bit teary when I'm standing by the lake or looking at the hills and breathing in the fresh air - it's the calm I wasn't sure I would ever find in my life and that I'm so grateful for. And to my wonderful friends here who have made this last year so flipping fantastic, thank you, thank you, thank you!
The humble espagnolette/cremorne bolt began as a glorified locking mechanism for French doors. A piece of history as timeless as this never goes out of style. We spent many a year perfecting our lockable version of this elegant piece. Updated to suit the needs of the 21st century and our ever-changing style choices, these bolts can be used in a variety of interiors. Made from extruded brass for added strength and available in 3 finishes, our espagnolettes are suitable for use on doors up to 3m in height. Simply change the handle or finish to achieve a totally unique look. #dominobrass#espagnolette#cremornebolt#frenchinteriors#periodhomes#frenchprovincial#hamptons#frenchdoors#contemporaryhomes
It's nearly two weeks already since we went away to Bristol for a long weekend and I feel like my feet haven't touched the ground since. We bought a few bits and pieces for the house while we were away but I don't feel I've had the chance to share many of them. On Saturday we did manage to put up the mirror that we bought at Shepton Mallet antiques fair inbetween all the other many jobs we were trying to achieve. Anyways I thought I'd share this beautiful space instead of the hotel bar, it was stunning. The period features and little nooks, with beautifully lit seating areas in them were incredibly cosy but elegant. I thought it was divine. #bristol#bristolharbourhotel#periodproperties#periodhomes#periodfeatures#interiors#moodynooks#sheptonmalletantiquesfair
𝒞𝓇𝑜𝓌 𝒮𝓉𝑒𝓅 𝒢𝒶𝒷𝓁𝑒𝓈 Still reeling from a beautiful weekend in Elie. Beautiful place, weather and people. Loved just wondering around taking pictures of interesting things. These crow step gables are something that we have incorporated into the designs of our new house. They originate in Northern Europe from the 12th Century but have been used in Scottish architecture since the 16th Century. The idea of our new house is that within a few years it will look like a traditional Scottish baronial house which was what it was originally. Anyway, pretty picture of Elie for you. Super exciting!!! 🤩 . . . . #newhouseblog#interiordesign#scottisharchitecture#scottishbaronialarchitecture#interiorsblog#periodhomes
