Low-income Calgarians week four: In 2011, Tina Lencucha was diagnosed with breast cancer, and received a lumpectomy, which sent her into remission in 2012. In 2016, she relapsed, but this time it was stage four, meaning the cancer had spread throughout her body. Since her second diagnosis, Lencucha has been receiving treatments to stabilize her health. Throughout her treatments, Lencucha worked full-time as a manager at the Salvation Army Thrift Store until April of 2017, when she had to go on medical leave due to her deteriorating health. She has not been able to return to work, and now receives long-term disability funding and CPP (Canadian Pension Plan), but after her bills are paid, she is left with $70 for the rest of the month.
Our city... I have so much love for this place. Regardless of the bad drivers, bi-polar weather and a constant travel bug I may have; YYC will always be my home. And LATELY, Calgary has really stepped their game up. • Restaurants, music, art, and architecture that WOW. This building being one of them. Oh @calgarylibrary this building a masterpiece. And the fact that we are able to use it as an indoor photo location makes it even better. (If you know me you know the disdain I have on our city for not offering more FREE photo spots indoor 😑). • Now, on to this beautiful ̶m̶o̶d̶e̶l̶ girl 😱 We shot some headshots for her yesterday and I was basically dying the entire time over how stunning she is. I have known Glynna for YEARS and I am so excited for the future ahead of her. Good luck applying to theatre schools!
A little late but here’s a throwback to our top posts from 2018! What a great year. We’re so happy that the new store policies and products we introduced were well received. Shout out to @jordanreimerrr @diamondgrrrrl @elysebouvier for their continued involvement and support! Looking forward to seeing you all when we reopen on January 8th 😘
Thanks for an awesome year Alberta. We had the opportunity to collaborate with awesome local businesses, marvel at Alberta’s crazy weather, throw back a few cold ones, cherish a few good memories while making a few more. Here’s to 2019!

A year ago today I did the best boxing day shopping and got this guy 😋 Mr. Lionel was on special for boxing day as he had not been adopted and had a smaller chance of being adopted due to being an older cat. This broke my heart and instead of going out and buying clothes, I brought this boy home. He has filled my heart with so much joy, more than words can describe ❤️ PS: his name was mistletoe at the time 😂 I can't get over that haha #mylove#furbaby

Spreading our wings in #yyc 💜Happy Sunday everybody! For a gal that’s used to always working Sundays, this past month has been a nice change of pace and filled with Sunday sleep ins, yoga, and making myself breakfast or spending it with friends and family and then getting ready for the week in the evening! What are some of your favorite things to do on a Sunday?
There’s nothing wrong with having a Tiramisu Oatmeal Stout for breakfast on the weekends. A full-bodied, roasty, malty stout with a complementary oatmeal flavor. Mild roasted grain aromas, with a coffee-like character. A light malty sweetness can suggest a coffee and cream impression. Oats and dark roasted grains provide some flavor complexity; the oats can add a nutty, grainy or earthy flavor. Dark grains combine with malt sweetness to give the impression of milk chocolate or coffee with cream. The tiramisu comes across as coffee and vanilla complimenting the stout taking the new Shaughnessy Stout to new heights!
This funky fish looks all ready for Halloween🦇 • This is a Red Lipped Batfish — These fish are actually better at walking across the ocean floor rather than swimming!🌊 They are a species of Anglerfish found near the Galapagos Islands🌴

We’d like you to meet Brett Rennie, our Production Manager in the brewery in Calgary. Although this isn’t his childhood dream job of wanting to be a third basemen for the @bluejays, he thinks this takes a close second lose second. He loves that this is an industry that has allows him to work with his hands to create a product that people love. "I take great pride in the work that I do and the beers we develop. Working in the brewing industry allows me to be creative in something that I’m truly passionate about.” He grew up in Bradford Ontario and went to University at VIU to get his BBA in marketing, where he really started to develop an interest in the brewing industry. After moving to Calgary in July of 2013, he started working for Brewsters in January of 2014. Rennie has been a part of our team for almost five years and created our Paranoid Black IPA (that is one of his favourite brews to drink, along side @collectivebrew, Berliner Lime and Ginger). In his new role, he’s looking forward to making more beer and enjoys the challenges of managing the flow from raw ingredients to a finished product and handling all of the obstacles that arise in the process. "I’m very fortunate to have a quality control program to verify that the beer we put out is clean, consistent and taste great." Help us congratulate him on his hard work and his new promotion, Alberta!
One particularly special launch is the release of Unity Brew, Alberta Maltsters Red Ale. 🌾 On September 28, fifty Alberta breweries gathered in Lacombe at @blindmanbrewery to brew @albertabrewers. As the name suggests, this beer was made using malts exclusively from Alberta. For the first time, Unity Brew will be sold exclusively from participating breweries’ taprooms! To find out where you can purchase Alberta Maltsters Red Ale head to the Alberta Small Brewers Association (ASBA) website - “Where to find the Unity Brew 2018”.

The partnership between clownfish and sea anemones is one of the most iconic in the animal world🔥 • While the anemone provides protection for the Clownfish, the fish helps the anemone collect food and remove their dead tentacles!🏝 • We took this beautiful photo from @ls_reef👍🏼
