To my friend who’s struggling under the weight of their sin.⠀ To my friend who is struggling to stop repeating the same cycle over and over again.⠀ To my friend who thinks that the mistakes they’ve made can never be forgiven.⠀ To my friend who believes that there is nothing you can do to make up for what you’ve done.⠀ To my friend who is trying to fix themself before they fall before the feet of Jesus.⠀ Sweet friend those are lies from the enemy that he has wrapped around you, so hear me please when I say: as a child of God, you can be set FREE.⠀ I’m not saying you are free to continue on a path that He hasn’t called you to. But you can stand on the truth that His love for you runs so deep, that He broke every chain that is holding you tightly tonight.⠀ He loves you, my friend, so please let His love set you free. #thisistherelentlesspursuit⠀ via @therelentlesspursuit_⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #pensacola#pensacolabeach#pensacolaflorida#upsideofflorida#empoweredwomen#womenforwomen#unplannedpregnancy#teenmom#iembracegrace

“Keep it secret. Keep it safe.” – Jesse V. of Boneless Rats 8 years ago today, Sluggo’s celebrated the one-year anniversary of their 101 S. Jefferson street location. It was the latest stop in their decades long history and the legendary venue’s return to Downtown Pensacola. My memories of Sluggo’s began with meeting friends while watching local and touring bands from the second floor of the Intendencia Street location. The reward for tackling a lifelong fear of heights and the steps to the balcony was the reward of an unobstructed view of every show I could catch in the 90’s. With a move to Palafox Street came memories of the dark entrance that led to booths nearly reaching the ceiling and swallowing you in comfort and shadows. A narrow flight of stairs led to a pool room and the area where bands played. Across the street from what used to be the J.J. Newberry’s where my mom would take me on Saturdays when I was a kid and a short walk away from Buccaneer Coin and Stamps where I bought baseball cards and crazy stamps. This anniversary show on Jefferson St. featured Sports Bar (Kemper “Johnny K” Blair, Stuart “BERNIE” Holt, and Cliff “The Wizard” Boyd. Richmond, VA), Sexy Crimes (Cassady Fernandez and Joel Control. Brooklyn, NY) and Boneless Rats (Joe Boneless, Travis F*ck and Jesse “Jesstro” V.) After the show, Boneless Rats stuck around for an interview and portraits.
