Skip the freaking scale!! Picture on the left is shortly after finishing my first really committed program. I saw some amazing results when I decided to commit to my routine workouts at home AND a my nutrition. Picture on the right, I actually weigh Less than the picture on the left. But haven't been as focused on my nutrition. The scale does not define us. It's about how you FEEL. It's not always about weighing less. . Never in a million years did I think I would do it. Not this girl who loves sleep, binge watching Netflix, all the cuddles, beer, pizza, sweets, etc. I still love and do/eat/drink all of these things. . I am forever grateful for the friend who asked me to do it with her. I underestimated the power of accountability and learned the true meaning of strength in numbers. . Heavy metal detox. Chelation therapy is not the way to go. Chelation therapy aggressively pulls metals through the kidneys and forces detox at a rate that the body may not be ready for. Chelation can be life-saving for some when used after an acute exposure (like a workplace accident) but for long-term chronic heavy metal exposure, it is a recipe for disaster. I have heard story after story of people who experienced severe and chronic health problems immediately after a round of chelation. What many practitioners don’t know is that the body will actually use heavy metals in place of minerals if the body is deficient. I get told by so many different people that they don’t eat healthy because they either don’t know how to or it’s too expensive. Considering my condition dealing with PCOS my doc ordered labs to be drawn to check my hormone levels (PCOS = imbalanced hormones). 💔😕 01/09/2019 results came back online for me to view. My results all pointed to 1st trimester/pregnancy. I knew better than to assume they were accurate readings —so I confirmed with my doc. Sure enough she responds with “YOURE PREGNANT!!!!” 🥰💝💙 I cannot begin to express how much Gods love and warmth overwhelmed me in that moment! ❤️🙏🏼 I was told I wouldn’t be able to conceive naturally, the only way would be fertility medications (which I tried, but resulted in harming me). All along I heard Gods still voice telling me that my faith and belief will bring a miracle to life. Not drugs, but FAITH! When I stopped trying to take control of the situation, GOD took over and in HIS PERFECT TIMING, HE created a MIRACLE! For those of you struggling with infertility, please don’t give up hope!!! GOD IS A GOOD GOD! Cling on to your faith and keep believing! I am praying for all those dealing with infertility. Do not ever hesitate to reach out to me. #bodyliteracy is the first line of PCOS recovery, wellness, and advocacy. Drugs and supplements have their place, but if you don't have a comprehensive understanding of your body and its functions, prescriptions will be a band-aid at best, and cause more harm than good, at worst. I'm convinced that future generations will look back on this era of contraceptive drugs as a very strange time in women's health. Yes, the pill is routinely prescribed for every sort of period problem, but at best, it can only mask symptoms. At worst (as in the case of PCOS), the pill actually worsens the underlying condition. . There are far better options! . When you’ve been crushing your workouts and nutrition and it shows 🙌🏻 but you no longer obsess over the fact that you still have stomach rolls or question why your stomach isn’t flat when you’re “doing all the right things” (that’s what society teaches us) or eating “badly” for one day doesn’t throw you into an all out “fuck it” binge where you think “I’ve already ruined it, I may as well keep going because what’s the point anyway” (really like if you look at the thought process, it’s pretty damn crazy - but that used to be my excuse to eat like garbage and use food as my form of punishment and self-hate. And then when I learned to eat healthy, I learned how to overeat on healthy food - yes it’s possible and “healthy” food still has calories). . I can look at the number on the scale without freaking out and simply see it as a number. . I can miss a workout and it no longer leads me to not working out for 3 weeks. I simply pick up where I left off the next day instead of using it as an excuse to do nothing. . I’m not ashamed of how I look because, why should I be?! You shouldn’t have to apologize for your body, to yourself or to anyone, no matter where on your health journey you are. Are there body parts I still don’t love? Yeah sure, and I’m not gonna lie and say I stand in front of the mirror idolizing my stretch marks and rolls as if they’re some Holy Grail, because news flash - they’re not. I’m just indifferent towards them and it’s perfectly ok to feel that way too. You don’t have to love every single inch of “the body” in order to love yourself. The body is just a vehicle that helps us in this world. So body idolization isn’t really my thing 🤷🏻♀️😂 . Choosing this life isn’t necessarily easy. It takes time, dedication, and commitment, but every workout and healthy meal I choose to do and have is a reversal of the hatred I used to feel towards myself for having a naturally
Transformation started with ME! I never stopped to reflect, could my PCOS be related to the food I put into my body? Now I know whole foods (ya know, the stuff that grows in the ground) are the foods that heal and nourish my body. I never want to go back to constant pain and suffering every day. Now I choose. I choose every day to flood my body with over 40 vegetables and fruits. How many do you get in? Step Back: Maybe my programming on food was wrong? Maybe 1 fruit or veggie at every meal is NOT healthy and calories in don’t equal calories out. Upgrade your programing - how you make decisions, what you believe, how the world works, and your role in the world Let Go: Transformation is a journey of letting go- behaviors, habits, beliefs that are disempowering to you and your destiny. Let go of the belief that the doctor knows everything. That there is no other way of healing (conceiving) except with a prescription. Letting go of the belief that I will never heal or get better. I may never conceive. Letting go of old beliefs about food. Say Yes: You choose your destiny. Is it conceiving a child? Take Empowered Action: Well tonight’s meal, I took empowered action and created a cauliflower pizza instead of the traditional way. It tastes delicious, too and I made an empowering choice for my body- mental, spiritual, physical Set up ACCOUNTABILITY & Stretch...healing is HARD, a lot of WORK, but TOTALLY worth the small effort every day. Ya know how Marie Kondo says to gather all the clothes in one place to go through them? . These are ALL CLOTHES... That I DON’T FIT.😳🤦♀️ . Sizes 12-22 are packed away in these eight GIGANTIC multi-gallon bins. For years I kept my bigger clothes out of the FEAR that I’d gain the weight back and need them again...and sure enough, I gained nearly 80 lbs last year after a family emergency left me battling depression. And now I keep all these smaller clothes with the GOAL of fitting back into them. . Isn’t that strange? Keeping them for years out of FEAR...and now keeping them as a GOAL. . Finding time will happen if you really want something We always say we don’t have time. The truth is, there is always time. The question is how bad do you want to reach your goal? ⏳ I’ve had women reach out to me about their #pcosstruggles who hear the advice I give and then they claim they don’t have time to do these things I recommend. I have learned that when I don’t really want something my days look really full, but then I turn to something I do want and suddenly I have all the time in the world. ⏳ If you really want to be able to walk up those stairs or play with the kids in the yard without feeling winded, or if you really want to feel good in your body you have to make the time. When you hear the things you have to do to get to your goal and you feel like you just don’t have time, then ask yourself, “How bad do I really want this?” You don’t have to set aside hours of your day to tend to your needs. If you have a break at work, do some pushups or squats. You could even squat while brushing your teeth. Make small changes each day so that it doesn’t feel time consuming. My weeks have been off kilter since I started school. Saturday-Wednesday are typically school/work days and Thur/Fri are days I try to take slowly, but even that wonky schedule changes pretty frequently • Full transparency, this is a little tough for me! I’m an extrovert through and through, and making time to see friends/Q/family is difficult with this schedule. I’m still working through it and am sure I’ll find some balance, but in the meantime, I do truly cherish the time I get to spend in nearly empty grocery stores at odd hours!💁🏻♀️ • Here is the product of one of those tranquil shops! I was suppose to post these before pics Last Monday, but I was too ashame to post them. 1. Because I have a sweat stain from sweating so much during the @transform_20 work that day. And I didn’t have time to change to take my pics. 2. Well I hate sharing pics like this because I’m making myself to vulnerable and people might thing I haven’t lost as much weight as I should’ve 3. Because well I’m my biggest critic, I shame myself for my body and instead of me looking at all the changes my body has made I still find 1 negative comment to say. But I kept looking at the pics and started to say well Porcha you have cane a long way! You’re beautiful You’re body is flawless You’re capable! You’re worthy! One thing I will learn to try and do is STOP comparing myself to anyone else. This is my JOURNEY This is me living with PCOS This is me learning to LOVE MYSELF AND MY BODY This is me SHOWING UP 6 days a week for 20min a day kicking my excuses to the side, working on myself inside and out. I hit reset this morning and went to a Super Sunday three hour workout session at Off The Rails in Clapham. It involved lots of sweat, dancing and fun with friends. It certainly helped me get my mojo back. I had my high carb days on Friday and Saturday so back to my high fat food today.

Living with PCOS is a daily struggle. I'm tired during the day and can't sleep at night. I struggle with intense cravings because my blood sugar is unstable and have a hard time losing weight. My PCOS caused my weight gain, not the other way around. Im losing hair on my head and it's growing on my body. I have acne. My body hurts. I don't have periods but when I do I can't move because the pain is so intense I can't even walk. I have a higher risk for developing diabetes, sleep apnea, heart disease, and cancer. I have depression. I have anxiety. Stress makes everything worse. But how can you not stress when drs can't do anything to help? Not all illnesses are visible. I didn't ask for this. I didn't cause this. I can't cure it. I can only control the symptoms. So tell me, why do many of us have PCOS but nothing is being done about it?
