Let’s talk about Epilepsy. . One of the more frustrating aspects of having epilepsy, is the sheer lack of awareness surrounding the disorder. . There is really no education to the public about anything centered around epilepsy, except for how to care for someone during a grand mal (tonic clonic) seizure. . Tonic clonic seizures are the ones you’re probably aware of. They involve a loss of consciousness, jerking movements, and a significant post ictal period. They are easy to spot, and many people have informed themselves on how to appropriately care for someone during and after one of these seizures. . But there is little to no education surrounding other seizure types, the chronic effects of having a seizure disorder, the side effects of anti convulsant medications, or how having a seizure disorder can affect you mentally, physically, and socially long term. . Epilepsy is such a broad disorder. There are SO many different seizure types, and every single persons experience will differ greatly even within those types. There are different triggers, different responses, different levels of post ictal periods, different medications, and different lifestyles to consider. . Nobody is discussing how having a seizure disorder affects your sleep cycles, your bathing habits, how it can cause migraines or vision loss, irritability, chronic pain, how it affects your choice of wardrobe or where you can maintain employment, etc. . Epilepsy affects me every single day, whether I have a seizure or not. If you have a loved one with epilepsy, take some time to speak to them about their disorder and how it affects them. Never make assumptions about someone’s medical diagnosis or history.
“It’s better to keep looking ahead sometimes. There are better smells, and you already peed on the tree back there.” -Benni Original ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m usually leading the way on walks like this. I am the fierce protector of this pack, and must keep a close eye on what’s ahead. I only feel the need to be right by my human if there is a two wheel contraption coming, loud noises, ice of ANY sort, or those big dogs named chihuahuas. Otherwise I’m the fierce protector who will size up any human. If the human gives me a pat on the head I know it’s all clear! 🐕 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also I’d love to take this time to appreciate my fluffy tail, you don’t see it often but it’s the greatest. It was actually where my adult coat started growing, I had one tiny poof at the end of my tail. 🐾 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Codes 🐾 15% @wild.wolverine.co BENNI15 15% @littleshopjoy BENNI15 10% @papillontailspetwear BEN10
Walks just got a little more fun with Froggydadoggy Black rope dog leash. Not only is this rope lead lightweight and super strong, but it’s also really easy to clean. We’ve teamed it with solid brass hardware that with time will age beautifully giving it a vintage look 🐾

Attempted taking Beaus ecollar out and honestly that was just a pain in the ass. Unless we are in a completely fenced in area he has it on when we go on adventures and thats our reality. Beau will get so focused onto things that he DOES NOT listen and that’s bad anywhere and just plain dangerous living in Alaska. The tone alone breaks whatever he’s so focused in on a good 98% of the time. Did you know a few years ago in Cordova a dog that was off leash/didn’t listen wandered off and pissed off a brown bear and brought it back to the owner who got mauled because of it. Last year the bear problem in town was incredibly bad because of low food and people just being irresponsible with trash. There’s no road in/out of our part of Alaska. Serious injuries human or pet majority of time will result in a flight out of here. We’re just trying to enjoy our home peacefully and responsibly. Ecollars are an amazing tool if you do the research and use them properly. Find what works best for you and that furbaby. With all of that being said picture number 3 is my favorite! Have a good Thursday guys. #besmartbesafe
