Here’s an example of what we were discussing in our previous post, Tip 6. Thomas Ang only makes one touch in each of the these sequences, but we included plenty of footage leading up those touches to show his positioning and movement off the ball. . As an added bonus, we get to give viewers an idea of the quality of the football that he’s defending against. As alluded to in Tip 1, coaches want to see you playing at the highest level possible. However, not every coach will be familiar with your league. When we edit videos for players, we pay attention to what other players (even opponents) are doing too, to give a good impression of the league. Perhaps we’ll talk about this more in a future tip. . You can find the full video for Thomas at our YouTube channel (link in bio). . If you played in @league1ontario last year, DM us to be featured.
Many players are tempted to create highlight videos containing clips only of them touching the ball, but coaches are very interested in what you’re doing when you don’t have the ball. Do you position yourself in the right place with the right body shape? Do you move into the correct spaces at the right times? Yes, you want to showcase your best touches and passes, but also show the coaches the movement you made to obtain the ball, and where you went after playing it. . When we make highlight videos for players we start by looking at the plays at the times that they submit to us, but we also look at the footage before and after each play to see if there’s anything positive we can show. . Have a look at the videos on our channel (link in bio) for good examples. . If you played in the 2018 @league1ontario season and need help with your video, just DM us.

In football, team movement on and off the ball plays a huge role in implementing a tactical plan; but how can we understand and model team movement, and how does it relate to the physical performance of players? On Friday, January 25th I'll be discussing this in an oral presentation on the research I've been conducting with my friend and colleague, Farzad Yousefian @sport_performance_analytics for UofT's ASSU URC 2019 conference. Hope to see some familiar faces! ... ... ... @uoft @canadasoccer @ontario_soccer @torontofc #416#sportscience#appliedmath#research#uoft#canadasoccer#ontariosoccer#canadasport#torontosoccer#sportperformance
Most of the players on our YouTube channel have been defenders so far. We need more attacking players! Strikers, wingers, attacking midfielders, where are you? Quick, strong, tricky, we’re open to all types of attacking players as long as you played in @league1ontario last year. . Visit the link in our bio to see the YouTube channel.
It is our goal to bring like-skilled and like-minded players together in order to expose them to a higher level of play as well as provide opportunities for exposure to team coaches. They are the future of Canada. #canadasoccer#ontariosoccer#fifa#uefa

As we’ll explain in our next tip, a good highlight video will contain different kinds of plays, but you’ll want to put the most exciting stuff at the beginning. We mentioned previously that coaches don’t have the time to be watching long videos from each player that sends one in, but it gets worse than that. The reality is that viewers often don’t finish watching the videos they click on. People will leave your video if the first few plays don’t grab their attention. So, get your audience interested with the exciting stuff, and then show them the more subtle stuff after you’ve got them hooked. . When we make highlight videos, even though we allow players to choose the plays they want included, part of our job is to arrange the order of those plays for maximum effect. Have a look at the videos on our channel (link in bio) for good examples. . If you played in the 2018 @league1ontario season and need help with your video, just DM us.
