So It's been a minute since we posted on here- and wow do we have some updates!! Theme change for 2019: 2018 was an incredibly busy year for the KOLD build team and we took on some new Chewbacchus duties as well- Our founder and co-captain, Richard Riggs, was asked to be one of the Overlords of Chewbacchus and the KOLD build team became the Chewbacchus build team. So while KOLD will not be building a new contraption for 2019, we are working fast and furiously on the Space Farce krewe contraption (pics coming soon!!)That being said, KOLD will now be behind the new krewe piece along with their modified 11ft mutant puppet, Dickie, rolling under the theme RETURN OF THE ASS-TRO ZOMBIES!! We can't wait for you to see what we've been cooking up on Saturday, February 9th, 2019 at the 9th annual @kreweofchew parade!!
🚨NEW BEER RELEASE: "LIL PILZ" is a Czech-style Pilsner brewed with honey malt and Czech Kazbek noble hops. Smooth and easy drinking, this refreshing lager clocks in at 5% ABV. We've been patiently waiting to tap this since we brewed it back in November. The wait was worth it 🍻 FRIDAY FOOD: Try Lil Pilz tonight, paired with @asianfusionpopup's delicious menu. The Pad Thai is our absolute favorite! 5p-9p. Swipe to see the menu!
"Go because it's crazy, borderline dysfunctional, permissive, shabby, alcoholic and crazy - and because it looks like nowhere to else" - Bourdain. This is the definition of New Orleans. 🇺🇸 I've only had the chance to visit this city once, but I've got to say it's the most interesting US city I've ever been to by far! I just loved everything about it! Want to see why? Stay tuned for my next posts 📸
We took a stroll down to the @hancockwhitney Centre to get in on the @Saints pep rally and to see how New Orleanians of 2019 prepare for large sporting events (this was a historically focused fact finding mission, people). We saw the wobble, gumbo, pigs flying, some questionable dance moves, and of course a lot who dats. #whodatsaydeygonnabeatdemsaints #whodatwhodat#visitthnoc
One of the best things I've eaten in a long time. Oyster Creole from @js_seafooddock, with fried oysters over creamy spinach and artichoke on a slice of the softest white bread and covered in a house-made remoulade.
THURSDAY: Yoga at Miel, taught by @zekediesel! All levels are welcome and classes are donation based ($5 recommended). Bring your own mats. 6:15p! FOOD: @afrodisiacnola food truck is at Miel FOR THE FIRST TIME! 5p-9p. Come eat delicious Creole-Jamaican fusion food every other Thursday at Miel!
Okay, I wasn’t going to do this, because I don’t think y’all deserve it, but #thnoc’s social media team insists that I do the #agingchallenge. I’m the Merieult House, and this is me now and me back in the 1930s. I was built back in 1792, which means I’m a lot wiser than all of you, so listen up. I’m a Creole townhouse, and I can still remember when Royal Street street was called Calle Real and the ten seconds that the French Quarter was actually French (their first crack at governing Louisiana was before my time, but the Ursuline Convent tells me it was kind of a dumpster fire). I’m lucky enough to still be here thanks to the people at The Historic New Orleans Collection who keep me young (I’m a sucker for an afternoon glass of Champagne). Despite my trepidation toward humanity in general, I’m free and open to the public six days a week where I spend my time among my friends (paintings, objects, and documents) from back in the day. Come visit, but be gentle. #historicpreservation#vieuxcarre#visitthnoc
“Everyone looks sad all the time, but really they’re just trying not to trip.” - @oscabriel One of the most accurate things ever said about New Orleans, tbh. Sometimes it’s pretty, sometimes an angry tree root tries to break your face. 🤷🏻♀️
