I picked up trash around my neighborhood (with gloves) while walking my dog and as usual there were lots of cigarettes, micro plastics, lighters, plastic straws, cables, etc. The cleaning fairy isn't gonna show up and magically clean up trash so it's really up to us to do our part everyday and be more conscious of our impact on Mother Earth. People celebrated Easter w plastic eggs, baskets & plastic grass that will more than likely end up in a landfill. On this #earthday my hope is that people start waking up to the trail of trash they put into the earth and make a change, even a small one, starting today. 👉A gift bag or a shopping bag seems harmless until it adds up to 100 or more of them yearly. Reuse. 👉A plastic straw seems harmless until it amounts to 60 or more per person, per year. That equals millions of straws that end up in the ocean, earth or in the bellies of wildlife. Today plastic straws in LA are banned! Let's hope more cities follow suit soon. 👉Balloons or paper lanterns seem like a harmless way to announce a birth or celebrate someone special until they end up in a landfill forever. Please never release balloons or lanterns into the air. Even if they claim they're biodegradable, that takes years and they will more than likely scare or harm wildlife. 👉You workout, you eat healthy but you use plasic straws, plastic bottles, plastic lids, plastic forks, etc that all become toxic when exposed to heat. 👉It's convenient to order things online until you realize how much senseless packaging is used yearly. If you can buy it down the street and use a reusable bag, that makes a difference. 👉Buy pre-loved items as much as possible. No shame in the thrift game. We have to as a whole change our mindset and be proactive for our future generations or they will suffer from our over consumption and bad environmental habits. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. 🌏🍃🍂 . . . . . . . . . #earth#environment#plastic#plastics#reduce#reuse#recycle
there is no “Planet B”🌱 There are so many things that will be destroyed if our lifestyles do not change. 50% of plastic used is only used once and then discarded. Plastic then takes over 400 years to break down. It is in our oceans, it is in our seafood and fish. It’s everywhere. And there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2025. 🐠 YOU can do something about it!! 1. Use a reusable water bottle!! 2. Bring your own shopping bag/reuse the ones you have!! If you do take a plastic shopping bag home, you can reuse it as a small trash bag (I do this all the time) or to clean up after your dog 🐶 3. Avoid plastic straws whenever possible. There are so many reusable straws out there now that are really fun or you can just go strawless! 🐢🐢🐢 Happy Earth Day 🌎🌍🌏 #earthday#savetheturtles#nostraws#please
Happy Earth day guys...this picture I am dedicating to our mother nature, and show deep gratitude. . . First, I will start by saying don't use straws, because they get stuck on sea animals breathing organs and they do not know how to tackle it, same with plastic they die, why do I and you have to care about this? Because we invade their homes and we invade their privacy and kill them at the same time instead of coexisting, they all are in this planet for a reason and so are we, . . Second, I know how traveling through various landscapes and terrains and leaving my comfort zone has taught me so many things that 21 years of education system failed, I ended up being a well oiled destructive machine, with so much chaos in my head by 21 and earth made me feel human again, the cerebral growth that happens by being out there, strong, resilient, in love and beyond comfort, testing the limits we had set in our mind, The extremely humid weathers, to being hungry for longer hours, learning the value of each grain fed to us, gravity during a free fall and our breathing organs when we swim, everything is at the right place to explore, learn and experience, love, passion and flow, the list is endless, . . So here I am thankful to mother earth for teaching me everything I am, I can be and more so for teaching me what living is... #happyearthday2019 lets take the gratitude forward by using #earthgratitude . . Thanks for reading, be responsible and spread the word, because mother earth needs more like us...
Just a little reminder that CORAL ARE ANIMALS. They are constantly treated like plants or ground where carving into them or Stepping on them is deemed okay, when in reality they feel the pain and can’t express is. Please be mindful. • • • • • #coral#coralreef#savethecorals#oceans#protecttheoceans
#repost @plasticoceansuk ・・・ 🌎 HAPPY EARTH DAY 🌏 This year’s theme is ‘Protect Our Species’, and we wish not only to focus on the ocean as a whole, but also the species within in it. To celebrate this event, we’ve been working on a magazine edition called ‘The Entanglement Issue’ with @ocdesigns_ . This looks at the growing problem of fishing gear being lost at sea, those species most threatened and why we will continue to collect and repurpose nets into creative designs. What’s apt is we’ve reused the cover image from last year’s Earth Day campaign! Check this sneak preview here 👁 it will be uploaded on our website shortly! • • #earth#earthday#earthday2019#oceans#earthdayeveryday#protectourplanet#protectouroceans#protectwhatyoulove#protectourspecies#oceanconservation
Join me in Galapagos June 2020 - keep reading! Earth 🌎 day , I can only thing Galapagos- I wish the whole planet would be equally protected. For years now I have been asked about my favourites diving spot in the world….I tend to reply, not only for diving, but as a place, as a trip … Galapagos comes at the top. Many try to compare it with Cocos and Malpelo (that I have also visited few times), the simple answer is: "it is not the same…". Galapagos has richer waters due to multiple currents hence more biodiversity and size/extension is multiple times bigger than Cocos or Malpelo. Galapagos is simply MAGIC and a it is a trip of a life time. Then people ask me, "when is the best time”?…. I have done it few times on both seasons, and by far the best is June-July…. when whales-sharks and huge pelagic schools regroup. So, all this to say, I have booked the entire Galapagos Aggressor III boat. 16 Pax, 8 cabins. Departure, June 25th 2020. 7 nights. ( https://www.aggressor.com/galapagos.php ). The itinerary will of course include the famous Wolf and Darwin islands in the north (only diving boats can get there), it is like a “private” experience in Jurassic park type of environment. Only few spots left... pls write me a dm for more info.

Mother Earth . I live by the ocean, and I visit the 'ol girl as regularly as I can. I love her, and I respect her, and I fear her. Earth day always reminds me how much we are failing her. Studies from the Ocean Conservancy have found that plastic has been found in more than 60% of all seabirds and in 100% of sea turtles species, that mistake plastic for food. And when animals ingest plastic, it can cause life-threatening problems, including reduced fitness, nutrient uptake and feeding efficiency—all vital for survival. . Every year, 8 million metric tons of plastics enter our ocean on top of the estimated 150 million metric tons that currently circulate our marine environments. Whether by errant plastic bags or plastic straws winding their way into gutters or large amounts of mismanaged plastic waste streaming from rapidly growing economies, that’s like dumping one New York City garbage truck full of plastic into the ocean every minute of every day for an entire year! And that much plastic is bound to have an impact on ocean ecosystems. @oceanconservancy . Here are some ways you can help: 1. Reduce Your Use of Single-Use Plastics 2. Recycle Properly 3. Avoid Products Containing Microbeads 4. Support Organizations Addressing Plastic Pollution 5. Contact your Representatives and Vote Responsibly. .
