(Check our SOHO GALLERY HOP for more suggestions in this area) . WHEN: through March 30 . WHERE: Valli Art Gallery (507 West 27th Street) . HOURS: Tues to Sat 10AM-6PM ———— *REFER TO “Museumi Adventure Itineraries” HIGHLIGHT FOR OTHER GALLERIES TO CHECK OUT IN THIS AREA!* ———— In Javier Martin’s “Blindness,” the eyes are covered with patterned, neon light. They have been “emptied of their humanity through a technique that suggests an inability to see anything outside of the self.” You’ll see re-photographed black & white images of fashion models as well with the similar effect. It’s clearly a commentary on art, commercialization, and mass media. How alluring that “eyes are windows to the soul,” yet these models and the viewers alike are stripped from seeing beyond. As if identity itself has been torn.
