These are my macro levels for yesterday and I’m doing the exact same today at 1000 calories only. I still eat a relatively high amount of protein for Keto, which mostly comes from meat through doing carnivore. Although my diet is most prominently meat, I still find my fat is a higher percentage and that’s the way my body runs best. I have found in recent trials that if my fat is too low I become extremely tired and lethargic. Tomorrow I plan to lift my calories by 200-300 depending on how I’m feeling.

Green fava bean from our harvest. Vicia faba, also known in the culinary sense as the broad bean, fava bean, or faba bean is a species of flowering plant in the pea and bean family Fabaceae. It is of uncertain origin and widely cultivated as a crop for human consumption. It is also used as a cover crop, the bell bean, which has smaller beans. Fava beans are loaded with vitamins, minerals, fiber and protein. They’re thought to offer impressive health effects, such as improved motor function and immunity. they’re rich in plant protein, folate and several other vitamins and minerals. They’re also loaded with soluble fiber that can aid digestion and lower cholesterol levels. Fava beans are rich in levodopa (L-dopa), a compound that your body converts to the neurotransmitter dopamine. Fava beans are loaded with folate, a nutrient that promotes healthy fetal development. They’re rich in compounds that may enhance antioxidant activity. Fava beans are rich in manganese and copper — two nutrients that may prevent bone loss. Eating iron-rich fava beans may help with symptoms of anemia. They contain magnesium and potassium that may relax blood vessels and prevent high blood pressure. Most of the fiber in fava beans is soluble and may help lower cholesterol levels. . . . . #permaculturedesign#permaculturefarm#plantscout#urbanpermaculture#regenerativefarming#favabeans#greenfavabeans#harvest#farming#farmer#farmers#veggies#vegetables#nutrients#nutrition#soil#land#viciafaba#culinary#healthyfood#growyourfood#fabaceae#agriculture#agriculturist#agricultural#agricultura#earth#planting
N E W P O D C A S T 🎧 . Lily Nichols @lilynicholsrdn is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist, Certified Diabetes Educator, researcher, author, and an all round inspirational lady. . She is the author of two bestselling books, Real Food for Pregnancy, and Real Food for Gestational Diabetes. . It was an absolute pleasure chatting to Lily. We talked for over an hour, so this podcast is a little longer than my usual ones. But there was nothing I could take out as there is just so much great info in here for anyone thinking of having a baby, pregnant, just had a baby, or just anyone interested in women's health. . We talked about: * the disconnect between the science and the recommended dietary guidelines for pregnant women, and those diagnosed with gestational diabetes * what actually gestational diabetes is, and the risks to mother and baby * how does what Lily recommends differ from the standard advice * the problems and risks to both mother and baby of a vegetarian and vegan diet * the risks of a low calorie, low fat diet with regard to fertility and pregnancy * what is hypothalamic amenorrhea (HA) & PCOS and how fertility can be dysregulated by diet * chemicals, hormones and endocrine disruptors and toxin exposure, and how this impacts our health and babies development * the 4th trimester - after birth maternal health and well-being * the loss of the 'village' in western culture, and how its impact on new mums. Lily talks about how other cultures do things very differently, and why * Lily turns the mike on me and asks me about how things were for me between babies 1 and babies 5 * we chat about many things in this very relaxed part of the podcast that all mums will relate too.. breastfeeding, tongue ties, weight loss postpartum... . So good! . Self care on a Tuesday. Sometimes that looks like a new face mask and a good movie. Sometimes it looks like a brain dump on your Instagram Stories. I’ve been weighing with the idea of finding a therapist. I don’t think I can do it all on my own anymore. Frankly, I don’t know why any of us do. Life is hard. Coping is hard. Adapting. Navigating. Learning. Hard. Hard. Hard. New norms don’t mean you all of the sudden have a grip on it all. They literally mean: new ways of being are in process and you best work your way through that or sink trying. I guess what I’m trying to say is, don’t beat yourself up when you realize you don’t have the answers, you don’t know what to do and you don’t know how to reboot your brain. Go find someone else who can take the lead and show you how. Whether that’s a family member, a friend or if possible, a professional. I don’t know when we as a society decided that we must do it all and have it all. I don’t know who we think we’re fooling. Have you ever watched the people who wear too many hats, never stop moving and never ask for help? Those people are hurting. I, for one, am tired. I want help. I want to feel better. #realstagram
My favourite lunch, a throw together tuna bowl. Iggy’s favourite too. Packed with protein, omegas and vitamins. Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated. Just throw together the ingredients you like. This one is baby cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, avocado, prepackaged grated carrot, beetroot and broccoli stems. Then added tuna, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. Plus whatever dressing you like. Soooo easy, so yum and so nutritious!! Feed your body what it needs to live your best life ✨✨✨
It’s that time a year. A short time in early spring you can find these hidden gems. Morel mushrooms are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals. The most dense nutrients being iron, potassium and vitamin D. We were lucky enough to be able to find a few pounds over the holiday weekend. #morelmushrooms#veganfood#foodforthought#nutrients#veganeats
