Want to hear a bit more about my renovation plans? There is a very good reason why I never take artistic photos of my kitchen - it is a lean-to at the back of the house which at times has rain water pouring though the ceiling and mushrooms growing on the walls. Last year when it snowed I cried in pain as my fingers went white with the freezing chill in the air (we had to move a food prep area into the lounge as it was too cold to bare). When we started renovating we had to make a choice - renovate the original house or build a kitchen extension? We chose the house. Unless we win the lottery the extension definitely won’t happen this year as the house is proving to be the money pit we expected it to be. When it gets to this stage of the year when the temperature drops I pretty much refuse to go into the kitchen to cook. Not in a diva way but just because with Raynauds Syndrome it is too painful to tolerate. Thankfully this is where my husband steps up. You may not know this already but my husband is an true entrepreneur and multi talented. As well as running two businesses (@ovencleanersnorfolk @sugdenanddaughters) and renovating Starre Corner he is also a qualified chef. He hasn’t worked as a chef professionally for many year but I put him to good use in the kitchen. He cooks a mean curry, roast dinner and on days like today our favourite comfort food lunch - onion soup. If you swipe onto the next image you’ll see my inspiration for my kitchen extension. We’re having corrugated cladding and a sedum roof. It will be a fabulous juxtaposition to the current 17th century house. Just a little reminder - if you’d like to spend a morning in the more comfortable areas of Starre Corner I am hosting a Norfolk Insta-Meet. Click on link in my profile for more info.
Left overs from the Indian feast we made yesterday for my eldest daughter, Imogen for her birthday. Love this Indian cook book by @meerasodha we had a mild chicken curry with figs, similar to a Korma, red lentil dhal and a rice with saffron, sultanas, toasted nuts and various spices, and all the trimmings It was all delish, if I do say so myself 🤣
Fellow Norfolk Folk 🙌 We are looking for a local forager to collaborate with on a March retreat. We'd like to source some naturally delicious foraged delicacies... and ideally meet someone who would be interested in talking to a group about what they've unearthed! If this sound like you or someone you know ... please send us a PM! 🍄
