Today the kids and I went to dance class, the library, home for school and quick naps, washed and detailed the car, planted organic Goji berries and daffodils, fed/played with the chickens, rode the 4 wheeler, dug in the mud for worms, baked cupcakes, made magnatile castles, put together a puzzle, read more books, cooked dinner together, and finished the day off with an episode of Little House on the Prairie and a sister slumber party on the couch bed. Sure, there were some tantrums and fighting in between... we don’t live in a fairytale after all... but goodness I’m grateful and feel so blessed to have my babies all day everyday. Lord knows it’s not easy.. I lose myself sometimes and have to find my way back, but I wouldn’t trade it for a thing. These are the best years and they are flying by way too fast.

"Organic food is a rip off" "It dosent matter" "It's just food, it ain't gonna kill ya" . This is what I usually hear when I talked to people about the importance of going organic. And I get it, it's hard to see the point in going organic, when a conventional tomato and it organic tomato looks the same. But today in my live we talked about the reasons why we do want to make sure we go organic. I'm going to highlight some of the key points here . 1) we only research one toxin at a time. The effects on the human body don't seem that bad when we do so, Monsanto likes this. In reality though, conventional produce contains a plethora of different toxins which when found together, is shown to catalyze it's affects and be up to 1000 times stronger than when studied alone . 2) they only study the safety of these pesticides for three months on rats. 3 months is not enough time to see the chronic effects of exposure to these toxins. This allows them to say that it is "safe" when in reality it is not safe, there was just not enough time to document the adverse affects . 3) these toxins are powerful endocrine + gut disruptors. This affects our fertility, weight, inflammation, skin, sleep, brain health + more . . BE SAFE- BUY ORGANIC . I don’t get to play with cake much nowadays. I work with it plenty filling orders, but the opportunity to create something outside the realm of a commissioned project isn’t all that abundant. Many companies add GUMS, FILLERS, and ADDITIVES, like guar gum, carrageenan, and lecithin. These can lead to inflammation, gut issues, IBS, colitis, autoimmune diseases, and even diabetes. . Consuming UNSPROUTED nuts, seeds, and grains can decrease the absorption of vitamins and minerals in the body and can be hard to digest for those with sensitive guts.
