With the 30th pick in the NFL draft, the New York Giants selected, Deandre Baker, CB. Finally, a cornerback was taken in the last picks of the first round. This was also the last pick for the Giants in their 3 first round picks this season. Quite honestly, their last pick was the best pick for them, in my eyes. Hopefully this guy will develop into a serviceable starter in the NFL. This guy won’t have to be thrown to the wolves either and be expected to take on the best receivers as, Jackrabbit, is still a talented player and should play the opponent’s best.
Fantasy Football Rookie Analysis -•- The Chicago Bears find themselves with two interesting backs this year. They have the versatile Tarik Cohen who surprisingly produced well in PPR and was solid in standard leagues and now they have a pure runner out of David Montgomery. Will Montgomery be able to jump over Tarik? Will a RBBC be formed? Will Montgomery be able to be a solid fantasy producer? Let’s find out. -•- Before the draft, I was really hyped up on Montgomery. Every time I saw him play, he wowed me. I loved his play style and thought he was underrated. But, as the draft went by, I felt he’s play was going down. I’m not saying he is diminishing but he’s production was sorta lacking. That’s not to take anything away from him though. He’s a great runner and a runner the Bears need. However, Tarik Cohen will hurry his value and he’s not worth drafting until rounds 9-14. I could maybe see a Devonte Freeman and Tevin Coleman situation happening with Cohen maybe being the 1A to Montgomery’s 1B. I feel like the Bears offense is so versatile that Montgomery won’t have the typical runner role. They will incorporate trick plays, two RB’s out of the backfield, RB pass, laterals, etc. The offense is best utilized that way. Due to that and Cohens ability to be put anywhere, this leads me to put Montgomery as a RB3. I like his place though due the offense being wild. Montgomery could see some goal line work more often and could very well be a TD-dependent player. So, Montgomery’s value loses points due to Cohen but gains a few points due to the offense being versatile. #nfldraft#nfl#nfldraft2019#nflcombine#nflmemes#nflhonors#nflfantasy#nflsunday#nflfootball#fantasy#fantasyfootball#fantasyfootballdraft#fantasyfootballadvice#fantasyfootballnews#sports#sportsjournalism#sportsjournalist#chicago#bears#chicagobears#rookie#football#footballseason
***The Dolphins best pick was Christian Wilkins, not Quinnen Williams🤦♂️ but anyways, here are my AFC East draft grades. Bills: Great draft, definitely one of the best. A top 3 defensive player in Ed Oliver fell right into their laps. And then, Cody Ford did the same thing in the 2nd. Both were amazing picks, very hard to decide which was the best. Singletary in the third was also very solid. He was my RB5. Vosean Joseph and Jaquan Johnson were each great, great value on day 3. Overall and great draft by the Bills. Patriots: The Pats always find ways to succeed. N’Keal Harry was a decent pick, can turn into a very good pick if he develops. I really like the Joejuan Williams pick. Okay value, but I felt as if he was one of the more underrated players in the draft. Then in the third they snagged Chase Winovich, great pick. Great attitude player who will make an impact. I don’t really know how to feel about the Harris pick. They already have a 1st/2nd down back in Michel, but I guess he will be a good backup. Yodny Cajuste was also a good pick. Good value and will be a good piece for their OLine. Jets: The Jets got the best player in the draft. I just love Quinnen. Great off and on the field. Polite will be a major steal if he fixes if off the field workouts and stays in shape. One of the biggest steals in the draft was Blake Cashman. As an Eagles fan I was praying we would pick him. The Jets got a very good pick. Very solid draft. Dolphins: Dolphins draft was okay. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Wilkins, but I began to like him more as I watched him, will be a great locker room presence. The rest of their draft was just meh. Only had 1 day 2 pick. None of their picks were really anything special. Just an okay draft. But their grade would most definitely be boosted if the Rosen trade was included, very smart move to go out and get him. Low risk, high reward.
Another power rankings post! Second one of the day! Hope you all have been enjoying the rankings and learning a little bit about how I like to draft a team! Next up is @brockghelfi with the “show me team”! I want Derrick Henry to show me that he can command the offense for a full 16 games. I want AB to show me that all this drama nonsense is behind him and doesn’t trickle to the Raiders organization. Rookies always need to show me, but even though I love TJ Hockenson, it’s like I want the Lions to love him too and show that love by utilizing him a ton. This doubt stems multiple first round tight ends not working out in the past. Overall I think you have the potential for one of the best starting lineups if you can SHOW ME that Derrius Guice is fully healthy and without competition and that you can show me your second flex (with Guice in) can handle his own! Currently you’re playing injury prone and backup players, bench is full of the same. One thing I like that you did was secure a stud tight end and then just forget about the position for a while. Now in my opinion, the rounds between Hockenson and Tyler Eifert produced some very poor picks. I’m not perfect but here’s what I would’ve done for each pick: Ekeler to Latavius Murray. Tate to Anthony Miller/Keke Coutee. Murray to James Washington. Rams defense to Mike Gesicki (better backup than Eifert). Parker to Tyrell Williams. I’m not trying to tear apart your entire bench, but you gotta think about the usage and youth of the players I named. Again I hope you see where I’m coming from, honestly that Guice pick can really turn out to be one of the best in the league if he pans to be that running back we all hoped for last season! Congrats to all the rookies drafted in the #nfldraft2019 ... as these young men take in the journey as instant role models for the younger generation. Although this picture is not ALL drafted players or ALL rookies including free agents signed.. this is a glimpse into the future of the #nfl. Of course highly proud of Dwayne Haskins (@dh_simba7 ) for following in the positive productive guidance of parents to recognize the only way to achieve his foreshadowed dream of being the STARTING #quarterback at #theohiostateuniversity at the age 7YO was by working hard, having a good positive attitude, maintaining good grades, being a student of the game, perfecting his craft, and listening to his parents. Among the few attributes he developed as a goal- driven young man. It was a pleasure being able to work with and participate coaching in his first of many youth football camps inspiring the kids to be motivated just as he was attending the same type football camp. Now a #firstround draft pick with the #washingtonredskins at Starting Quarterback (allegedly). Soon to be Rookie of the Year! Grateful for opportunities to develop young men to enhance their quality if life. Time for a new chapter. #gohogs#buckeyenation
If you were watching the NFL Network coverage of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders selected Prairie View defensive end prospect Quinton Bell...and the Network had no tape or data to give on the spot, which is unusual because they usually are on top of all prospects. Bell had 'stumped the truck', as they call it...because their producing/research team didn't have a video package or notes ready to go. Hey, it happens. I grade 700+ prospects for the NFL Draft each year, and every year there are 2-3-4 guys drafted that I don't have grades on (because I could not believe they'd ever be drafted based on the initial data, so I didn't waste time grading them). This 'stumping' happens to the best of them, but I had to laugh about the Bell pick because while he 'stumped the truck'/the experts -- he was the first OLB prospect I wrote a longer scouting report on for 2019, because the data I saw come across on him was so 'wow'. The report became one of my most requested pre- and post-Draft, but I can say the Raiders, to my knowledge (or their transparency), did not request it directly from me or want to discuss it more. I'm going to publish my report on Bell today (below) because he's a very interesting story/prospect to consider for the NFL...and for IDP, perhaps, someday. I'd also like to use this IDP talk to be sure you knew that we scout/grade hundreds of defensive players for the draft and then post-draft we include them in our top 300+ Dynasty Rookie Draft rankings/valuations. In addition, we have 450+ IDPs (top 150 at DL-LB-DB) ranked by projected fantasy PPG via our Dynasty Offseason and Best Ball subscription and then the IDP scoring PPR projections will be available in our ever-updating (until opening day) Draft Guide package of reports (available mid-June). We also project the scoring on 200+ IDPs in our in-season coverage every week/day. We have a lot of IDP scouting, ranking, projections, and discussions on FFM and CFM. If you play in serious IDP
