I made it a point over the last year to explore the different, less popular parts of Minnewaska and the surrounding area. It’s amazing the web of trails both maintained and not maintained that the gunks has to offer. Sure they don’t offer the jaw dropping sights that the most popular destinations have, but what it does have is a subtle beauty that really gets you familiar with the geology and ecology of the gunks. After a concentrated effort of many trips in the back country, I still have parts of the park that are still left unexplored by me. My advice is when you’re looking for a sense of wilderness and solitude, research these other parts. Check out some old maps on the internet, get some guide books, use new maps @nynjtc, use @gaiagps, and try confirming on google maps satellite view to plan a trip.

Toys R Us NYC (Part 1).😔 After hearing the unfortunate announcement that Toys R Us was going to go. I set out and shot all of the current stores in New York🗽 throughout the first half of 2018. Toys R Us played a huge part in my and many people's childhood. It was very sad to see the stores go so I wanted to find the ones I haven't been and take pics so they wouldn't be forgotten. All pics shot in chronological order Pic1: Rego Park Center, Queens 3-19 Pic2: Baychester Plaza, Bronx 3-22 Pic3&4: Flushing, Queens venturing with @the_music_man_with_cymbols 3-23 Pic5: L.I.C, by N-Blvd, Queens 4-2 Pic6: Metro Mall, Middle Village, Queens 4-5 Pic7: 42 st Broadway, NY 4-7 Pic8: Soundview, Bronx 4-11 Pic9: Little Neck, Queens 4-28 Pic10: Bay Pkwy, Brooklyn 5-5 (Part 2 coming tomorrow) . . . . . . #toysrus#nycprimeshot#ig_nycity #exploreeverything#neverstopexploring#justgoshoot#brooklyn#manhattan#bronx#queens#goodbye#icapture_nyc #newyork#tribute#throwback#queenscapes
I've had my fair share of vet waiting room conversations lately and I was struck at the compassion I witnessed there. The almost instant bond you create with that woman walking in with her cat that just got attacked by a dog and that might not make it, the old couple with the blind pug that fell off the bed or the party of 6 all waiting together for one dog, comforting each others. What I witnessed was heartwarming and I wish that human ER rooms were half as much filled with compassion and connexion… But I know that this is the magic of animals, of our love connexion with them and how easy it is to strike a conversation with a fellow worried pet parent. Just like the conversations we've had here on IG where so many of you have told me your pet’s story... I also know that for every person that has reached out to us, there is a least two shaking their head and thinking how crazy this is. Believe me, I know. So, keep shaking your head because today I saw a holistic vet with Stout. A great woman that he liked immediately. She did energy work on him, used a pendulum to find the appropriate supplements to help his immune system fight back. Yeah, I know. You can go ahead and judge me. For those who are still reading, she said she felt he was not ready to go. That’s the feeling I’ve had since the beginning, but when emotions are involved it’s hard to differentiate your instinct and your own desire. I'm not ready to give up just yet, but I'm also not expecting miracles. So if you're still here, Thank you. I have said it and wrote it more in the last week than I probably have in my entire life. I feel incredibly grateful for the love and support we have received. It is an honor to be witness to so much generosity (in money, but also in words). Mathilde is still selling her jewelry to try and collect money to have a memorial piece of jewelry made for each of us from another Etsy artist. The link to her little store is in my profile.
