I need to take some time right now to BIG UP my brother @con_wes !! He, my little nephew and the rest of the SD GLADIATORS are about to head back into battle for the their first 7v7 tournament of the season after bringing home the National Championship last year!! Not only is it exciting for the obvious reasons but this gonna be a special one for @con_wes - About a year ago he became a Certified Personal Trainer with the goals of becoming a Youth Football Coach,  A Personal Trainer and A Mentor to these young kids... Well within the last year he’s achieved every single one of those goals and then some!! It really is crazy how much your life can change in ONE YEAR/52 WEEKS/365 DAYS when you take action! He achieved this by loving himself enough to know that he deserved more, by being brave to demand more not only from himself but from me, my nephew, my sister in law and all these kids he’s been coaching and training and most importantly disciplined enough to actually work for more!! He shows up to every single practice, every single game and every single training session and whether its just one kid or 10 kids, he gives ๐Ÿ’ฏ% every single day!! All of this combined with Gods love and surrounding himself with nothing but greatness and like minded folks has put him in the position to be privileged enough to have been asked to help coach with @fastcampathletics and @real_results_mike4 !! Obliques :- The sides of your core are just as important as the front... The entire core helps us stay balanced and perform a ton of exercises without falling over or straining our backs, but the obliques in particular have an important role. They're the muscles that run along the sides of the waist, from the ribs to the hip bones. We use them every time we twist our torsos, or bend down to one side or the other. Some shoulders, bis, and tris for y'all to experiment with!  I โค trying new exercises and combos!!!! First video is from @defrancosgym and I love it.  Dead stop lateral raises + half lat raises + shoulder circles (killer). Have three different weights to do this with (heaviest first). Then onto a fun triple set from @bjgaddour!  Curls + reverse grip curls + hammer curls  It is magical.  The barbell kickback is really hard but the contraction at the top is uh-mazing (from @smith.julian)  And the last video I've been doing them for a while are bodyweight tricep extensions on a barbell! Awesome stretch in the bottom position and squeeze at the top! Four moves for a much stronger, tougher and pain free low back. . Ever notice the lack of low back ‘specific’ exercises that are being given by trainers and health care practitioners? . The end result of strength, for the most part, is less chance of injury which is less chance for pain to occur. . How many times have you done Deadlifts or cleans and felt your low back go into overdrive and then stay plugged in until 4 days later? . Here’s what’s going on.  You’re not strong enough. . You’re using the paraspinals as primary movers as opposed to the hip extensors.  You’re loading the tissue, and then, while under load, you’re bypassing the muscle system designed to move the load and dropping right back into the reflexive stabilizers to pick up the lack of engagement. . If you’re scrolling through pages of back exercises in an effort to get that pain to stop, give these movements a go and let me know what you think. . Since the shark fins that most people are sporting (giant steel cables along the back) are overactive and incredibly short, you want to lengthen them first and then load them up through a neutral recruitment. . Balance is taking a day to rest from clean eating and the gym and knowing you have to get back on track the next day. I see people constantly doing this movement wrong in the gym so allow me to shed some light on this... Video 1 Incorrect Way. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿพ๐Ÿšซ Reason this is in ALL the way wrong is because I'm using my hips which is making the movement easier and there is no core movement involved. It’s crazy how many people commit to losing weight or getting in shape at the start of the year and how little actually go through with it (I would even argue that the numbers are lower than shown here).
