I got to play with our custom curtains today and see them at the shop for the first time. They're still not hung but oh man, did they make my heart skip a beat (or twenty!) I just had to snap some photos of them on our gorgeous weathered "holding table" (you know, the table you place all your found goodies as you make your way about the shop and fill your arms and heart until they're both overflowing.) What do you think? I found the fabric in the "evening gown/prom dress" section at a fabric shop 😂 Hey, I can't help I'm drawn to luxurious art deco embroidered mesh. These beauties will drape from the heavens (actually from our 12' ceilings... but those two things correlate all too well.)
👋🏻 everyone. So! You know our beautiful shack we’re always going on about. You know we love it. And we know you will love it too. So...we want to share it! We have been sharing for a while with our friends and people we love, but now, most of our friends are on insta 😂. So we are opening it up. To all of you. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted xx Sar and Em My Sister & the Sea 🐚 ⚓️ Accommodation Marion Bay, SA Setting Sail mid 2019
What a Wednesday! It’s tax season, so I promise that our dining room isn’t this clean right now. I’ve pulling some serious Mom duty this week, and I was fingerprinted for my first real job in almost fifteen years 😱 I’m so terrified. What’s even more odd about this weirdest of Wednesdays is that I practically wore my fingerprints off! Oh yes, it’s possible! Of course they will come back, but my recent days of working the earth exfoliated them so well that they almost couldn’t get a scan. Crazy! . Honestly though, nothing will be better than tonight when we all finally gather around this table. We will have twenty minutes of communion with one another, and it doesn’t really matter what we are eating because we’re just happy to be together. What’s your favorite time to just “be” with your family? . My lovely friend Jo at @thelifeabundanthomestead invited me to share in her #cozycreativehome Wednesday gathering of lovely places, and I’ve tagged a few extra friends to play along. Give her beautiful family a follow and be sure to use the hashtag on a Wednesday, or simply follow along for more beautiful things to fill your day ❤️#thekylelife
When you are too busy for Instagram.. . Cause you’re dealing with: • an 11 year old lighting a fire in the wood with his mates cause he thinks he is bear grylls • a piece of homework for 9 year old that involves taking a stick on a walk and decorating that stick with things you find on the walk •Going for swim in your new cozzie and realising at the pool edge you have the fanny hygiene sticker stuck on the back of your thigh! . What a busy fucking Wednesday! Peace out folks ✌🏼 . Day 20: think pink @myhousethismonth
I really don’t have a lot of pink in the house other than the little girly room but I’ve shared that a lot lately! I do however have this Desenio print and our friends bought us the cutest coasters as a house warming gift and mine is pink! That counts surely? 💕 I’m also a little bit in love with this Singer sewing machine and table Ben brought home last week. It’s like it was made to fit perfectly in this gap on the landing 😍
It's a early night for me folks. Not feeling the Mae West, as a friend of mine used to say. I thought I had shook off a sinus infection at the weekend but it seems to have been lurking believe the surface. Nothing for it but tea, a hot water bottle to the face and rest. . On another matter, who has Amsterdam tips for me? I haven't been since 2007, so I am guessing there are a few new places to see, a few new things to do. Throw all your tips my way lovelies.
So we all know I have a husband. The Mister as I lovingly call him. He has been by my side since 2004. He’s had a lot to put up with, but when we met I was a lot more volatile and angry than I am now. I was dealing with PSTD and I couldn’t cope. I self harmed, I did my best to hurt him, I would be so viscous to him, I knew what to say to get him right where it hurts. I was awful (and even today, I still have moments where I still am, I’m just better at keeping a lot of it in my head!) Even when we had our first daughter, Ellie, I had calmed down to an extent, but then I had PND. He did his very best for her and for me. As always, he tried to make my life easier and that and medication helped me get through it and relax and find that bond. 2 years later we had Izzy. In between that we finally got married! (I was 5 months pregnant) We had a lot more ups and downs but eventually we got our little Pip. My little dream team. My “problems” are all still there, they will never go away, but he continues to take it on the chin. He bought me the star for my brother at Christmas. This week has been particularly crap as hormones make my anxiety worse. As much as I love him and my family, the feeling to run away and never turn back is like an overwhelming shouty voice that just will not shut up, the more I try to ignore, the louder it gets. He knows all of this, and so far this week all he has done is do his best to help, but obviously me being the way I am, anything he does is just a hindrance. He made this for my brother’s star. He wanted me to feel a bit of happiness so he worked his arse off to create this beautiful piece of work. He sourced the wood, painted it, drilled all the holes, put lights in (there were always gonna be lights, he’s obsessed!) He got the flower garland because he knows how much I love flowers and he made it absolutely perfect! I’m so glad he’s now on Instagram because I can share stuff like this and know he’ll read it. Love you
#myhousethismonth day 20 - Think pink! This is still one of my favourite upcycle projects! The previous occupants left this behind when they moved out. A couple of coats of pink chalk paint and gold stencilling and it looks right at home in our bedroom!
Evening all! I get asked so much about this sink unit; . I bought it from a local vintage shop purposely to house the sink.. it was initially for my old bathroom just to give it a little update without spending lots of money and because my old sink was cracked and a bit shit. . The unit was like a deep burgundy and stayed like that for a year or so in the old bathroom, it was I think about £70. The sink and tap were from @ebay and cost not very much at all.. the sink about £20 and tap similar. . It’s so easy to find something similar if you’re looking at renovating your bathroom.. even if it’s not the right height.. look at @houseofharwoodandrose fabulous sink unit, lifted with the bloody sexy af hairpin legs! 😍😍 . So yes, when I did the bathroom last year I knew I wanted it clean and slick and monochrome and I knew this cupboard was staying to add a splash of colour and the vintage charm I love. It’s changed location though and works well under the window now. It’s so important to think about what the eye sees as soon as you step through a door into a room. If you’ve got something special in a room, try and add it opposite the entrance to give your eyes that treat the second you open the door! Obvious maybe but if something’s to the side or behind the doorway then your eyes aren’t immediately drawn in💗 love at first sight should always be the aim! . Happy hump day 😘 . . . . . #interiormilk @interiormilk @interiorblink @apartmenttherapy @myinterior #nestandthrive @nestandthrive #eclecticdecor#mybohoabode#bathroomdesign#bathroomdecor#myhyggehome#interiorboom#originmagazine#pinkdecor#interiors4all#interior_delux #solebeich @solebich #roomhints @roomhints #ikeaatmine @ikeauk #myhappyinstasquares#myvintageabode#showusyourhygge#instaliving#sassyhomestyle#myhouseandhome#mynordicroom#homesofinstagram#modernrustic#interiorsnapshot#mycreativeinterior @mycreativeinterior #interiorinspirations
It’s Wax Wrap Wednesday (yeah, that’s totally a thing...that I definitely didn’t just make up) and it’s coming up to Mother’s Day. Have you thought about combining the two and giving wax wraps? They’re an original and reusable gift idea
