🇳🇴 Ragglærsopp 🏳️Stereum hirsutum 🇬🇧 False turkey tail 🗓07.01.19 🆔 Individual brackets are 2 to 8cm across and have irregularly wavy edges. The colours, which are zoned and generally paler towards the margin, darken with age and vary considerably with location, but yellow, orange and brown are most common. There is no stem.
14 QT DUB TUB TEK Things you will need 1. 14 qt tub ( from dollar general they stack so well you don’t need tape at all ) 2. Empty Tomato paste can 3. Stove 4. Micro pore tape 5. 1/4 inch drill Please watch previous video for 6qt dub tub and read instructions. The only difference between this one and that one is the size of the tub, and the extra hole that is drilled. Cover both holes with micro pore tape if you get fuzzy feet simply take the tape off of one of the small holes. You can even do both. I’d suggest one at a time and wait 24 hours. Boom done dub tub magic super easy. Recommended spawn to sub 1:2 ratio 4Qts Spawn / 8Qts Substrate!!!! Watch my bucket tek video on how to make substrate. The next video will tell you how to line the tubs and a example of mixing it with proper sterile procedures!!! Stemonitopsis typhina is usually common in northern Tasmania once its preferred substrate (I.e logs) are saturated after winter rain. It favours very rotten sodden wood and often forms extensive colonies along the full length of a log. It is not unusual to see groups of different ages in close proximity. S. typhina is easy to recognise in the field by its silvery stalk and the membranous peridium that persists as small flakes on some sporangia. . . #tasmaniannature#naturephotography#myxomycetes#forest#slimemoulds#macrophotography#mycology
It was a great privilege to work with @glassmoshe and @hellandmaximus at the @hartfordartschool glass studio today. They made two bell jars for my mycelial textiles to live in. Feeling truly fortunate to have been able to bring form to my mycelial terrarium idea in this way. Stay tuned for more images to follow! @has_glass #mycology#mycelialmatters#visitingartists
What have I been up to lately? I recently finished my last fall semester of undergrad studies. It was extremely stressful, but I learned so much. I took a physics course, which taught me patience and exposed me to areas of our natural world that sparked my curiosity. I also completed my senior capstone project on the applications of mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) in plant genetic engineering. What's my next step? Graduate school. I will soon be interviewing for plant science PhD programs. What's my goal? I hope to be part of the global effort to solve one of our generation's biggest problem: food security. My journey to this point of my life has been an interesting one for sure. Through my many struggles, I have learned invaluable lessons that have made me a better person and an adaptable future #scientist. . . . . . #science#scicomm#stem#student#research#college#biology#plantscience#botany#mycology#fungi#mycelium#lichen#nature#biodiversity#wander#wonder#curiosity#explore#pnw#pnwonderland
This is a Slimy Spike-cap, inspired by @mycophoria post, these mushrooms are a grey or pale brown but I loved the color so much that I kept it the same as the post. I am naming her Violet . . . . . . . #mushroom#mycology#cuteart#art
The Requested DUB TUB TEK This is a 6qt dub tub by far my favorite and the easiest to maintain. I don’t spray I don’t fan and I let it go to 4 flushes then throw it out. Things you will need 1 Empty can of tomato paste 2 6qt shoe box tubs ( l Get the ones from dollar general they have flatter edges and stack better) - Stove 1. Heat can on stove ( don’t burn yourself use a oven mit ) 2. Use it to put a hole in the top 3. Layer with micro pore tape. (You can make it over lap more or less in the future if you see fuzzy feet to give less or more FAE) 4. Stack it if you notice the sub is drying more or less you can spray if needed. Run a small fan in the room on low. 5. Put a small piece of tape on the side to hold it in place. 6. In my opinion not needed if your sub is drying to fast you can always wrap the whole thing with microtape. ( only for super dry areas or if you aren’t patient and can’t stop opening it. I literally never fan. I’ve only spayed a few times on the forth flush occasionally. 7. Recommended Spawn to substrate 1:2 just about 2Qts spawn / 3.5Qts substrate That’s it y’all I will do a 14qt and 16qt dub tub soon as well. I will also post a how to line the tub and the ratio, I use mixing spawn to Substrate. Thank you hope this helps MushLUV 🍄 #mycology#mushrooms#cultivate#cultivation#mushluv#knowledge#followforfollowback#follow4followback#grow#amatuermycologist#spores#sporeprint#spore#mushroom#mushroomhunting
