Our Member of the Month, Jill H, is hands down one of the kindest and sweetest ladies you’ll ever meet in your life. Her consistent positive attitude, her ability to push herself when the going gets tough and her constant encouragement of her fellow athletes really make her the perfect choice. To read more about Jill's experiences at Croga, check out her Q&A blog, link in the Bio.
Congratulations to our December Spotlight Member of the Month: Aimee Grace!!! Lindsay says about Aimee: She is always available to new (and current) members to offer encouragement or answer any questions. She was also an instrumental part of the Little Black Dress Challenge, always offering support and advice. We appreciate all her contributions to our community! Aimee says: I'm a born and bred South Hills girl. From the time I could talk, I wanted to be a nurse, and I got my undergrad nursing degree at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. I moved back home to save money while I did my masters in nursing at PITT and also began working in pediatric oncology at Children's. I lived in Oakland (obligatory for a Pittsburgh lifer, I think!) then bought a house on the North Side. I got married and found myself starting to feel burnt out in my career so I started working on a Doctorate in Nursing Practice. At the same time, I was diagnosed with some autoimmune issues, had two hip surgeries, and was told I would need hip replacements by age 40. I started doing everything I could to reduce inflammation in my life and started feeling the best I had in years. But in 2014 I found myself separating from my emotionally abusive, and newly diagnosed bipolar husband. I poured my heart and soul into trying to get him the mental health help he needed and to try to fix our marriage, and my own health suffered for it. I moved home...again...with my parents in the house I grew up in. I officially got divorced, finished my doctorate, cut down to part-time at the hospital and found that I was bored out of my mind. I started purging my own belongings and it felt great. Then I started purging all my own hurt, pain, ideals, fears, control and insecurities. I started to feel so free and was able to focus on my own health again. I had the sense that I could help other people do the same and I started a professional organizing business, Grace 2B Free . Many people are getting ready for the 12 days before Christmas 🎄... here is a way our family counts down the 12 days before our Disney trips🏰. The bags are each filled with one thing that we will need for our trip (sunscreen, complimentary magicbands, snack for the plane, etc.). This is a very low cost way to countdown the trip's arrival, plus it makes our kids really excited each morning in anticipation of the trip. 😎 How do you countdown to fun occasions with your family? Share in the comments! #motm#feefreetravelplanning#disneycountdown#disneytrip#disneyideas
We have had an absolute blast over the past year with our Maker Of The Month up-cycled build submission contest! November, last month, was the final month of this competition, and it’s safe to say we went out with a bang! The winner of the November 2018 MOTM Competition is Kip Gomez! Kip built a floor lamp from a water heater tank and a squirrel cage fan. Complete with a three-level touch sensitive switch and an Edison bulb, this steampunk room accent was a hit with the public amassing over 2,000 votes! Kip wins a pair of @keenutility boots, and, of course, bragging rights! Thanks to KEEN for their continued support of this contest and for giving the winners something to remind them of their hard work! The runner up, with a little over 1,000 votes, was a cool, multi-species, wooden map of the United States created by the husband and wife team Kelly and Charlie Tragas. They created this map to remind them of everywhere they've traveled as a couple and have since built a few more for friends and family! Thanks to our winner and everyone who has supported or participated in the Maker Of The Month competition over the past year! In a few weeks, we will be publishing a highlight reel featuring all the past winners and their projects so stay tuned for that! . . . #motm#makerofthemonth#artisan#craftsmen#upcycle#reclaim#salvage#roanoke#submission#contest#competition#keen#utility#boots#waterheater#floorlamp#wood#unitedstates#map#snow#dogs#stellaknows#may#november#final
