I had a goal of getting more than 225 off the floor on deadlift. I hurt my shoulder and developed tendinitis in my forearms during my last deployment. I managed an extensive warmup followed by a 5x4 of 225, and then my attempt at a single 275. Didn't fully get it but managed a sloppy 245, so that pumped me up because I finally broke 225 after hurting myself. It's been a long, journey back to feeling like I'm improving and not just trying to get back to where I was. I've never wanted to have to rely on extra equipment while working out, always felt like I was cheating. My injury has shown me that it's not cheating but important to preventing and recovering from an injury. My buddy @the_flyinghawaiian started his own company selling some amazing wrist straps. First time I used these and I noticed my tendinitis never flaired up once during my workout. Also, my gym is run by money pinchers and none of the bars have grips left on them.
