When (if ever) should you delete a post?? 🤷🏼♀️ I’m sure you’ve all seen the “felt cute, might delete later” memes (if not swipe left ⬅️⬅️⬅️). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I recently read an interesting post by AMR digital on this topic. When you do post something that doesn’t perform as well as you hoped or expected, how should you respond? Do you delete it because you’re worried it may look bad? Or do you simply accept it and move on? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The recommendation: ❌ Don’t delete! ❌ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you delete it, your next post is likely to perform poorly as well. This is because of the way that Instagram’s algorithm works. They try to show users the most popular content first. Popularity is determined by 1️⃣ How many likes, comments, shares and saves a post receives and 2️⃣ How your previous posts have performed. #instagram posts generally continue to gain likes over the first 3 days. If you delete it within this period you are cutting your engagement even shorter. 😟 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The same is true with editing your post. Avoid pressing that “edit” button at all costs. The reason being is that when you edit a post it affects how Instagrams algorithm ranks it. IG is no longer sure what the post says so they reset all of their engagement measurements. Meaning, if you had 100 likes and then you edit the caption, Instagram will view it as starting over at 0 likes and will rank it lower in your follower’s feeds. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Instead, keep the post. Look at its analytics. Try to determine what it is about that specific post that didn’t resonate with your users so that you can avoid making the same mistake twice. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Then focus on what you can control - engaging ❤️!!! If you have a poorly performing post in your feed you need to be twice as active as usual. Scroll through your feed, and leave at least 30 genuine comments
Everyday we tell ourselves "I'll do it later" or "I'm not feeling it right now" well it's time to break the mold. Do more, be more. Put the time and energy into improving your life and making yourself better. Why do it later when you can do it right now? Even if you're not feeling it, do it anyways because it might just be feeling you. Small steps can become big accomplishments over a long time so start now.

You don't just go through things, you must grow through things. Like Thomas Edison said when asked about failing on 1,000 attempts to make the light bulb..."I didn't fail, I learned 1,000 ways that the lightbulb wouldn't work". He and his knowledge had to grow.
