Head up. Wings out. Hopeful heart. 🏃🏼♀️💨 ———————— First (non sprinting) workout back since base building and I’m feeling G O O D. 😍😭 Today’s workout 👇🏼 30 min w/u 5 x 1 min threshold pace (w/ 1 min recovery) 20 minute cool down Totaling just under 7 miles in 60 minutes 🏃🏼♀️🙌🏼 —————————— Spent those 60 minutes this morning soaking in the beauty of running and listening to worship music. Thankful to see how far I’ve come in the past couple of months and I’m so thankful for Jesus’ goodness, my husbands’ constant encouragement, my coach @mrsetht support, and my sister in laws @nikkithompson7633 and Kayli who have helped me the last couple of weeks get my #tracktuesday workouts in! It takes a village, y’all. ——————————— 2019 goals, let’s do it 👊🏼
In the spirit of Festivus I'd like to air my grievances. I didn't do any speed work so when the 2 speedy girls passed me at the end I was mad at myself. The end. Then my frustrations turned into joy for them and how hard they work. Way to go girls! It was indeed a great day to run and hang out with friends. I have really enjoyed this race series all the fun we have while racing, and all the friends who we know we'll see on the roads. It sure does make the holidays so much more fun. #festivus#racetheregion#run219#runhappy#runsquad#momswhorun#nuunlife#marathontraining
H E R E. W E. C O M E. 🏃♀️. . Graeme ran a few races in my belly, but today was the first race where I pushed him in the stroller. The start was a little dodgy... we started mid pack, but found our way to some clearer road. I’m not a fan of being crowded in - prob made me run a little faster ☺️. G loved being with all the other runners and of course seeing all the “wee-oohs” 🚔 along the course was the best part! . Thanks @fleetfeetmtpsum for another fabulous run! . . . #chasingsunrises#cocoacup5k#motherrunner
When you are OBSESSED with effective core training and see a brainy way to train your abs, you share the goodness!! Check out this side plank variation from @thebellemethod. ・・・ B A L L R E S I S T A N C E Here’s a modified side plank that’s elevated to a new level when you add the large stability ball for resistance. This is a great challenge for anytime - pregnancy, postpartum and safe for anyone healing prolapse or diastasis recti. Pressing your knee into the ball as you move is a great way to challenge your shoulder girdle and obliques. Not to mention it helps you connect to your pelvic floor! 🙌 Adding gentle resistance can help with that neurological brain/muscle connection. REMEMBER - you can’t train a muscle that your brain can’t connect with. Take the time to learn how to connect to those deep pelvic floor muscles. Your results will be so much better. 1) Inhale prepare and release, exhale to lift your knee and roll ball up the wall as you lift pelvic floor. 2) Inhale prepare and release, exhale to press your knee and squish the ball into the wall as you lift pelvic floor. For more like this, check out our online video programs in the profile for pregnancy, postpartum and beyond 💜 #thebumpmethod#getmomstrong#diastasisrecti#momabs#mommytummy#fitmomsofig
Since it’s only been 13 days post-marathon and I’m technically still in recovery-mode, I figured I’d say hello! If you’re gonna follow me, then here are some things you should know, before you decide whether or not to jump ship😜. . 1️⃣I’m a Christian. As in, I’m a totally flawed, self-centered person, but for whatever reason, God chose to cover all those flaws with the blood of His Son, Jesus, and give me His Son’s worth and inheritance. ANYTHING GOOD you see in me is bc of Christ. I didn’t/don’t earn God’s acceptance, but I have it FREELY, every moment, everyday, and therefore, I am *never,* EVER in a place to judge ANYONE. My purpose is to honor God by loving others, as generously as possible, bc that’s how God loves me. . 2️⃣I’m first-gen Asian American, meaning, my parents are smart, hard-working immigrants from Taiwan, who came here for grad school and built a life. They worked all the time, so I grew up a latch-key kid in a middle-class neighborhood in Houston, TX. I took care of my grandma who had Alzheimers and my little sister, and The Winslows & The Tanners were my family role models. . 3️⃣I didn’t start running until college, while desperately trying to control an eating disorder. I ran my first marathon in 2004, clueless, with my longest training run being 13 mi, and, I subsequently sustained stress fractures in my shins! I’ve run 5 marathons since, but didn’t officially start #carolyndreamsofboston until the end of 2016…then I got injured and spent 2017 in rehab! I’ll get that 🦄 one day, tho! . 4️⃣There was a period of time (years) when finances were tight, and we were on food stamps + WIC. I had to make everything from scratch in order to make the dollar stretch, and this is the main reason I know how to cook! It also made me realize how incredibly difficult it is for low-income families to eat healthy. . 5️⃣In 15 yrs, I got married, had two kids, and moved from TX➡️ CA➡️TX ➡️MA.
I’ve been back to running for 13 weeks and a day, so it felt fitting that my long run was around a half marathon distance (8-minute mile avg. pace). I’m going to sound like a broken record, but once again this was my longest run postpartum with baby number two. @mamabear_runs_marathons threw me a bone last weekend, and my only run was a 5k, so getting the mileage back up this weekend means some extra stretching and yoga during tomorrow’s rest day. Nineteen weeks until marathon! But, now it’s time to Christmas my ass off. Have a super weekend, friends.
Finished half marathon #5 today, 1:59:37. Beat my goal of sub-2 hours for the first time with 23 seconds to spare, beat my last half by 16 minutes (11/2017) and my best half time (4/2016) by almost 10 minutes. #oldernotslower
Some days are a true joy. Some days drag on. Some days we play learning games, interact, build houses of blocks. Some days there’s too much baby shark do do do do do mommy me shark do do do do do, daddy shark... 🎶. Some days I raise my voice. Some days I’m patient, kind and loving. Some days we have play dates and kids activities. Some days I try to build up target and grocery shopping and trick Harper into thinking it is “fun”. Some days I offer perfectly balanced meals. Some days it’s PB toast for dinner. Some days Harper locks herself in the bathroom. Some days I lock myself in the bathroom. Some days I don’t touch my phone in order to be present. Some days I look at my screen time and I’m at SIX hours 😱. Some days I think maybe it’s time for me to go back to work. Some days I think I have the best job in the entire world. Some days Harper wants me to hold her and my reaction is “you’re two! You don’t need mommy to hold you!”. Some days my reaction is, “you will always be mommy’s baby, of course I’ll hold you”. Some days it takes Harper 15 minutes to put her shoes and socks on and I think it’s cute. Some days I want to do it for her in frustration because WE HAVE TO GO. Some days I naturally have an abundance of love to give. Some days it takes reminding myself that all they need is some love. Almost all days I have to remind myself that there is no such thing as a perfect mom, but the fact that you worry about being a perfect mom makes you a pretty darn good one!
It rained ALL DAY yesterday! It's still gloomy but we brought our own sunshine for our weekly run sesh! 6 miles & I don't even care what my pace was. 🌞 Reality...I'm on the struggle bus 🚍 physically & emotionally. I'll be ok, my mindset needs some correction & I need to GET ON PLAN. My schedule is busier than I'm used to & my attention is rightfully distracted with family stuff. I'll do what I can when I can for now & go ALL IN on this new Shaun T program in January! Right now, I'm excited about my soldier in training graduating basic training & coming home for Christmas! 💚🇺🇲 🎄 If you need to GET ON PLAN too, join me! Link in bio!
It was gray and damp and early but 6 miles were cheery running by so many houses lit up with Christmas lights — and ending at my favorite 😉 (but you can peep my IG story for the decoration I said I’d never have!!). I could smell fireplaces burning and imagined how cozy some of the people may be under the warmth of a blanket and some hot morning coffee. Instead of cutting it short out of my jealousy, I decided to push forth and reward myself with that same hot coffee when I got back and showered. And really, the reward was also in the run. A chance to be in my own space for 60 minutes, listen to @brenebrown, put the gift list temporarily on hold and take the time to reflect on my actions towards myself. This was the movement my body had requested all week, so when it came down to giving it or skipping it, the reward is in showing up❤️ Happy Saturday xo
An incredible surprise flash sale was announced for this weekend only! My top picks are the highlighter palette, the charcoal duo, and the lipstick vault for gifts 🎁 Click the link in my bio or head to www.beautycounter.com/AshleighGallagher to shop!
“You could go the distance You could run the mile You could walk straight through hell with a smile You could be the hero You could get the gold Breaking all the records that thought, never could be broke.” ~The Script . 3 Saturday morning trail miles. Running is not therapy. But it IS therapeutic. ☺️ #saturdaymorningrun#trailmiles#dandltrail
15km in the freezing wind this morning ✅ Avg pace 5:30/km Avg HR 149bpm. Brrrr it's a cold one today ☃️ As tempting as it was to just do this on the treadmill inside my toasty house, I will always do my best to run outdoors on the weekend because that's my alone time for the week 🙌 It's a little chunk of time dedicated to just ME and for my husband to deal with the kids on his own. It's his turn to prepare 10,682 snacks, make lunch and clean up all the craft supplies and spilled cereal. His turn to change diapers, play barbies or trains and help them in and out of princess dresses 400 times 😂 A small break for me that helps refill my cup and that also results in my husband's sympathy for my struggles while he's at work all week 😂 win 🙌 This run also wraps up my off-season. Tomorrow is a rest day then Monday #viennacitymarathon training officially kicks off 🏃♀️ . . . #runhappy#brooksadrenalinegts19#brooksrunninguk
Sometimes you have to take a moment to breathe and smile and to think how far you have come 💪💪those moments are so needed and so motivational and show you you are a better runner than the Runner you used to be!! . Today’s Run was great , feeling great all thru my run. This was my 6th run in a row this week and I just felt like going for a longish sesh today :20 km and 1 recovery k. Dying laughing because I was going through some old race photos and just realized I wore the exact same shirt in my last three half marathons! 😂 And the same hat and shorts in two of them!! Clearly I have some favorite pieces!! 💁🏻♀️ Anyone else have a lucky shirt?? #luckyshirt#luckyhat#luckyshorts
Saturday morning family 5k was a success! I ran my fastest mile ever today at 11:31 (when I started running I was around 16-17/min mile)! Today was actually my slowest 5k, there was a brutal beasty hill that I wasn’t expecting! ✅
