Standing in front of the camera doesn't come natural to everyone. Even when the photo session is depicting a true moment in time, and I try to not direct the people I photograph. For this couple it wasn't so easy to "forget" I was there and it took them a good part of our session to ease into it and to be comfortable in being affectionate in front of me. But once they did, it felt like they were back in high-school, just two teenagers in love ❤️⠀

“When life gets hard & you feel alone REMEMBER you mean the world to somebody and that somebody calls you mom” • By far my greatest challenge to date - becoming a mom. Knowing you have someone who watches your every move - WOW. Not anticipating the emotional, mental, physical spiritual toll parenting takes, I forgot to take care of myself, and it finally caught up • When my husband came home after a long summer - I told him I needed a change in a big way. I needed to take time for myself and figure out who I am in this new role and how I can be the best version of me for me AND my family • FAST FORWARD, to now. I am at the tail end of a crazy holiday show season and all considering - I feel fulfilled. I feel #happy, I feel #confident, I feel good in my own skin. And not only that, I’ve been able to be more present and my child’s life - in my OWN LIFE. • I finally gave myself the tools and surrounded myself with badass ladies to get myself through the holidays and long hours while still eating healthy & mindfully (not just inhaling what’s in sight), making sure to #move my body every day (by sharing with my ladies) AND I got to do it with the best cheerleader - little Miss O - and not to mention the sweetest giggles to push you to finish #strong • Do these struggles or experiences sound familiar to you? “You must make a decision that you are going to move on. It won’t happen automatically. You have to rise up and say “I don’t care how hard it is, I don’t care how disappointed I am, I’m not gonna let this get the best of me. I’m moving on with my life” This spoke to me today! It’s been a hard last 4 months. A lot of change. I lost a very valuable relationship to me and at this point in time I don’t see that relationship being fixed or rekindled. A lot of things in my life have suffered because of this situation. But I’m grateful for this. I’m grateful for this hard time because I’ve learned more about life and myself then I ever have before. I’m exactly where I’m suppose to be. The people in my life are the people that are suppose to be there. Yes our life is made up of choices that lead us to situations that affect our lives but I think we are always meant to be put into these situations for a reason. The reasons are to grow and learn. To become stronger and a better person. I do want to share more about my hard ship these last couple months but for now just know I’m finding my peace, my happiness, and setting myself free even if it’s been difficult to do so.

I feel like I could workout all day, but eating healthy is where i struggle the most. Trying not to overthink it though. Not every meal needs to be off the food network, if you know what I mean! Tonight's dinner is a Mediterranean stuffed chicken breast and steamed spiral carrots. Both from the microwave and only took 5 minutes to make.
I won't get too sentimental, but today was one of those highs. Nothing special about the day, just a lot of little moments. Snuggles and laughs and plenty of poop jokes, but it just hit me how lucky I am to have my two. I like to be honest about the struggles in parenting, especially considering how difficult my start as a mother was, but I also think it's important to be real about the joy of raising children. I always thought it was difficult to workout with one kid, little did I know what itd be like with 2 kids 🤣🤣🤣 Mat and I wanted to lift together tonight but that didnt happen. Little bug needed some loving so we had to take turns. . Tonight I did a total body workout with a 10lb plate. Since I did a light weight, I tried to take minimal rests between each move and each round. Seemed easy at first but my shoulders are burning! 4 rounds, 8-12 reps each round 🏋️♀️ Squats 🏋️♀️ Lunges 🏋️♀️ Chest press 🏋️♀️ Shoulder front raise 🏋️♀️ Shoulder press 🏋️♀️ Bicep curl 🏋️♀️ Tricep extension 🏋️♀️ Ribbons 🏋️♀️ Sit up
Beyond t h a n k f u l for this guy❤ • He works so hard to provide the best life for our little fam, & supports me FULLY on all my crazy dreams + endeavors. (& anyone who knows me knows that's quite a load😝) • For the first Sunday in my adult life, I'm not anxiously preparing for the work week ahead. Instead, I'm getting in all the snugs + quality time with my guys. And come tomorrow morning, I won't be rushing off to get started on a 40 hour week working for someone else. Tomorrow I will be staying RIGHT HERE in the home that WE built, building my businesses + raising our sweet baby boy💙 • The past 7.5 years working for @smithfieldbrand 🐷 have been AMAZING and I couldn't have asked for a better job or a better team to work with. But now I will be focusing all my attention on raising #westogram + creating the life I love (no I don't mean I'll be drinking mimosas all day, serious #goals though🤣). • Blessed is an understatement when I think of how my side hustles have now turned into my FULL TIME JOB, allowing me the freedom + flexibility of that SAHM life 💁♀️ So loads of hugs to all my friends + family for the love and support throughout the years, y'all the real MVP'S👊
Working out - yeah it's hard. It's hard to wake up earlier, to push yourself harder, to make smarter, mindful choices in the kitchen, and to be consistent and disciplined on a routine basis. - It's hard to make time for yourself (especially when you are working, mom-ing, schooling, traveling - you name it - we all have something! 💚), to stay accountable, and to re-shift your priorities and focus toward a healthier you. - But you know what else is hard?? - Waking up in the morning and not recognizing the person you see in the mirror. Looking at pictures of yourself and being uncomfortable with who you see. Not having the energy to play with your kids or make memories with them because you're so stinking tired all of the time. - GUYS - it's ALL hard!!!! But the coolest thing is - we can all CHOOSE our hard!!! - So CHOOSE to take care of YOU, to feel your best, and to love the skin you're in so you can HANDLE the hard!! ❤️
Do you struggle with getting your kids to brush their teeth? 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ It is always best to explain to your little ones why you do things! Why is it important to brush teeth? Well, it helps keep them clean. Just like when we wash our hands, it gets the dirt off. 😁😀😃 Consistency is also key. This means doing it every night & morning starting at 6 months old. Being consistent allows them to know what to expect. Also, it doesn’t matter if they don’t have teeth yet (use a damp washcloth). If you include this as part of their daily routine, they become accustomed to it. Repetition is everything in childhood. ✨✨✨ One way to help is to get them their own toothbrush in addition to the one you are using. Modeling is also important. Start with brushing your teeth in front of them after you give the explanation of why we brush. Then give them a turn to brush YOUR teeth. Say, “first we brush the teeth on top and then the ones on the bottom.” 😁😁😁 Then it’s Baby’s turn to brush their teeth. Make sure to let them know that Baby gets a turn and then Mommy gets a turn. ‘It just goes to show you don’t have to be glamorous to be successful at what you do’. Ahh when your hubby knows exactly the right thing to say 🤭😉. Not glamorous, no fancy office, no backdrop, but that’s not what makes someone successful. Remember the other week when I said to just start saying YES to things?! Another invite to share a training for our network in THE largest training group we have. Like if you’re part of what I do, you’re a member of this 100K+ group. 😳😳 Each week, as guest speakers get asked to speak, they change the banner photo in this group. And each week, I look at the speakers, recognizing them, often looking up to them. Just last week, I looked at that banner and imagined myself ONE DAY being a face on that banner. And today, my less than glamorous photo is there, a selfie pulled from from my profile, hehe, and asked by corporate to train on goal setting and vision. Yep. Me. 🤷🏼♀️Out of nearly half a million, little old me is prepping the company for 2019 (ok maybe not to that extreme 😜, but it’s a big deal 🙈). Goal setting — something that didn’t cross my debt ridden, closed minded, lack attitude mind, just a few years ago. And now, something that I eagerly set - daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly - the scarier/more impossible seeming, the better, and then get to work on attempting to crush 🙈🙊. I used to think I had to have this extravagant life, the desk with motivational quotes, the fancy pens (seriously 🙈🙈) to be ‘successful’ or to have anything worth sharing with others. But now I know, I determine my definition of success, and from where I’m sitting, a year of many goals hit, nothing fancy or glamorous needed to keep up with the ones you look up to! Another busy week coming up 🙌🏼🔥🙏🏼
Why is motivation BS? Why do we need a body-loving REVOLUTION, rather than New Years RESOLUTIONS? Because motivation comes and goes. It's not with you all the time. You might look around you and feel like you *should* do something. You might be comparing yourself to others, and then either be a) paralysed by feelings of not good enough, or b) hit the gym from a place of punishment, rather than love for your body. You might try that diet, that product, for aesthetic reasons. You think that in hitting 2019 with all these thoughts and plans is a good way forward. And to a certain point, you're right. BUT HEALTH IS NOT A SHORT TERM GAME. Your health is yours for the long haul. Your body is the only one you've got. So let's shift the focus and come from a positive mindset & love, rather than a place of negativity and ego. It's possible. It gets results. Since I’ve been more open about my life, many of you have reached out to me for advice. I am honored to be given the chance to help. But PLEASE don’t feel what I say is a cure😞. You shouldn’t want to “cure” your child. A cure doesn’t exist, allow that to clear from your mind. Understand, there’s nothing wrong with them. They’re different which makes your child UNIQUE! They’re not sick. It’s a tough journey but it is manageable. You’ll have your highs and lows. TRUST ME, I still have my breakdowns. YOU have to be their VOICE, STRENGTH, and NUMBER 1 supporter. Don’t be so hard on your child and NEVER beat yourself up over what is not under your control. Autism is not a word to be feared, it is a child to be loved. God gives special needs children to regular everyday parents. Parents that will step up and be strong. Your child will teach you life lessons you never thought you could have anticipated. Throughout your journey together, you become the parent your child needs. Remember, they need YOU more than you need them. Remain calm, everything will be ok💙💙
Anyone else feeling a bit overwhelmed? Feeling like there's 2,481,367 tabs open in your brain and it's so overwhelming that it either causes severe anxiety or just completely paralyzes you? I’m at stand off between anxiety and paralysis, both neck in neck competing for my attention. I currently feel completely vulnerable in this state which means I’m highly susceptible to the return of unhealthy thoughts and habits. Shame, guilt, depression, anxiety, incompetency, failure, self deprecating taunt me like the playground bully. Thoughts that I’m acutely aware of the consequences as they lead me down a incredibly self destructive cycle and have the power to unravel my world. Thoughts that beg me to believe these lies as truth in order to justify my self sabotage and the chaos that follow. . . Today at church, my mind needed a healthy dose of grace and perspective. Hitting the pause button for that hour reminded me that my battle isn’t against destroying myself BUT destroying the toxicity that has no purpose inside of me. Anything that cost me my peace or compromise my stability, is too high of a price to pay. I may not be able to calm or control the proverbial storm but I can certainly calm myself while it passes through. Choosing to focus on gratitude, grace and all the difficult challenges I’ve overcome will accomplish more than the lies guilt and shame. Remember, struggle breeds strength. Protect what you’ve built.
