"2.5 billion people live on small farms (1 of every 3 people). Small farmers manage half of the world's arable lands, they represent indigenous culture, and they have a special bond to their local environment." - Alex Eaton of @sistema.bio , an initiative that is supporting farmers globally to become more productive by creative value from waste.
Have you ever wondered what is in your #tapwater? In your town specifically? I was doing research about buying shower head filters and came across this #environmentalworkinggroup#ewg site. I highly recommend punching in your zip code (web address below) to find out what specific contaminants that your town’s water is not up to code on- which are already very lax standards, influenced by #industries who want to be able to continue to operate as they do. And no, it doesn’t matter of you live in some pure-ass mountain town where snowflakes sing opera as they fall from the sky and deer with bells on graze in dew drop meadows. ❄️🦌🌲🏔If you use city water, it most likely contains a high amount of #chlorine (how about some #hairloss and #eczema with your shower?), #radioactive substances, #heavymetals, #carcinogens or other #contaminants. What I really like about this site is it shows you specifically what contaminants exceeded “standards” in your town, what health risks they are associated with, where those #pollutants come from in your #environment, and then even gives you information about how to find the right #showerfilter or drinking #waterfilter for the specific contaminants that you face. Yes, shower head filter. You absorb a lot through your skin. Happy researching! 💙 Mni Wiconi!!! 💙 🌎🌿 Water is Life. #mniwiconi Here is a screen shot of just some of the contaminants that exceeded guidelines in my little mountain town. 💝Generosity is a value we Natives must continue to pass on to our young ones! “Parents often gave so much to the needy that they frequently impoverished themselves, thus setting an example to the child of self denial for the general good… Children must early learn the beauty of generosity. They are taught to give what they prize most, that they may taste the happiness of giving.” - Charles A. Eastman, Lakota If you love it!
