Girl, Do you do the SAME. WORKOUT. EVERY. DAY? . You’ve been going to the gym for a few months and seeing AWESOME results, but have started to plateau and can’t figure out why. . Where the heck does this plateau come from?! . First, you need to understand our bodies go through 3 stages when we start working out. . 1️⃣ALARM REACTION: aka when you can’t walk after your first workout in 3 years. This is the initial response your body has when introduced to a new stressor such as increased oxygen and blood supply to necessary areas of your body. . 2️⃣RESISTANCE DEVELOPMENT: your body learns to adapt to the stressor and increases its capacity such as recruiting more muscle fibers and distributing oxygen and blood to proper areas of the body. ‼️Once the body has adapted, it will require an increased/different stressor overload to produce a new response‼️ . 3️⃣EXHAUSTION: aka not mixing up your workout and only doing the same thing everyday. This is prolonged stress that eventually will lead to breakdown and injury. ‼️This is WHY you should be breaking up your training program‼️ . 👉Chances are if you are struggling with the above, your body has adapted to your routine and needs to be put under a different type of stressor👈 . ‼️HOW TO GET OUT OF THE PLATEAU‼️ . 1️⃣Mix up your workout moves/ routine: try DIFFERENT classes or machines in the gym, make sure you are focusing on all types of training (flexibility, resistance, balance, core, cardio, etc) . 2️⃣Change your environment! This naturally forces you to different stressors. (Such as the agility squares in this video- something I hardly EVER do in the gym!). I also hate running, EXECPT for when I want to be outside- changing up my cardio! . 3️⃣WITH RESISTANCE: cycle through periods of heavier weights with fewer reps and periods of lighter weights with higher reps . 💕NOW GET MOVIN GIRL💕 . Double tap the picture if you are no stranger to anxiety. When your amygdala perceives you are in danger, it alerts you by setting off an alarm in your brain in the form of adrenaline. This adrenaline pumps through your body to prepare you to either fight the danger or run from the danger. Just like a smoke detector alerts you to a fire and a tornado warning alerts you to a twister, your amygdala alerts you to danger. It’s important to keep in mind that the amygdala is guilty of making errors. Hence why you feel anxious in the presence of no danger. The trick to snoozing your amygdala is to expose it to potential triggers and retrain it to not respond. This can best be done through exposure therapy. #anxiety#anxious#panicattack
today we were told to set an intention at the start of our yoga class. the words self love instantly came to mind. . for me, self love is intricately linked to my self worth. poet @jannerobinson says “i set boundaries with ease that honour me. i understands that no is self love and everything after no is unworthiness.” . i realise that my easy, wild and spontaneous nature can sometimes inhibit my self worth. . often, i don’t set boundaries with ease. often, i realise that i didn’t set any boundaries at all until it’s too late & i’m in desperate need of of showing myself some self love. because i’m just left there torn & vulnerable. . often, i don’t show myself self love because i’m too desperate trying to save those close around me. i excuse their behaviour, comments & actions. til they go & break my self worth completely. . i’ve seen this pattern in my self and for my clients in all relationships. from friendships, lovers even work. . the problem is, when we hear ‘self love’ we think it is just about bubble baths & spa dates. for real self love, we need to do the inner work. we need to say no, we need to respect our values & boundaries, we need to be authentic & we need to show up for ourselves, rather than for others ❤️

“Should I eat every 2 hours if I am trying to lose fat?” I get asked all the time 👆🏼 : Here’s how I look at it, What works for one person, may not work for someone else! I recommend listening to your body and eating when you are hungry. Stopping when you are full! It really can be that simple. : I would focus more on the quality of food you are eating 😊 Making sure you are getting enough fiber,protein and fat in your meals. : I personally prefer a slightly longer window of 3-4 hours between my meals, as that’s when I tend to feel hungry! This can change based on what I ate for my pervious meal, my level of physical activity and I will adjust the timing of my next meal accordingly. Makes sense? What I do recommend is maintaining a 12-13 hour fasting window (you can increase that fasting window up-to 16 hours) between your last meal of the day and your first meal the next day. This gives your body optimal time to complete digestion and go through a process of repairing damaged cells and flushing out dead cells. It also encourages your body to dig into fat reserves as there is no glucose in your blood towards the end of that fasting window. 🙌🏼🙏🏼❤️ How many meals do you typically have in a day? my mom always said to never show up to someone’s house empty handed. me: k 🍪 . i made these mint chocolate PB cookies for MDW 👉🏼 I took my M&M cookie recipe, changed a few things around and ended up with these 🔥 here’s what you need to do: Makes about 12 👉🏼Ingredients: 2 cups almond flour (not sure of subs) 1/2 cup maple syrup 1/2 cup @tedpeanutbutter creamy PB 1/2 heaping cup or more mint chocolate chips (used a @hukitchen crunchy mint squares, chopped) dash of sea salt 1 tbsp vanilla 👉🏼Directions: in a small sauce, on low heat melt together the PB + maple syrup (unless the PB is super creamy and can be stirred easily). Allow to cool completely. In a large bowl add everything together. Mix. Bake in the oven at 375 degrees for about 12 mins. Allow to completely cool- they are a bit gooey and can break when hot. The bottoms should be brown and edges crispy! Store for up to 4-5 days in fridge! #peanutbutter#mintcookies#chocolatepeanutbutter#cookies

So, my kids snacks don't usually look so well plated and organized...but they're snacks often contain foods like this 🥑🌰🍊🥒 . . 🔸cucumber slices 🔸@simplemills grain free crackers🔸cutie oranges 🔸avocado 🔸macadamia nuts . . They usually insist on some sort of cracker or chip. I always want them to have a veggie. In addition, fruit and nuts are frequently a part of their snacks. I also love feeding them jerky, nut butter, homemade muffins, grass fed cheese and smoothies.
Two loaded yogurt bowls to fuel a day of studying 📚 My boyfriend is on vacation this week and that means more meals shared together ☺️ Yogurt parfaits are one of my favorite breakfasts because with the right toppings they leave me feeling nourished and satisfied. I always look for organic Greek yogurt (when I can find it) or one that is high in protein and low in sugar. I also like 2% because it helps keep me full for longer. 👍 I’m a big sweet person when it comes to breakfast and snacks, so this bowl hits the spot every time! 😊 - Breakfast bowls: a base of 2% yogurt (any kind works), frozen organic blueberries and strawberries 🍓 (warmed in the microwave), banana 🍌, granola (TJ’s organic fruit and seed or their almond butter are two of my favs), unsweetened coconut 🥥, cacao nibs 🍫, goji berries, and cinnamon ✨ I hope everyone has a nice day! 💛

It was so fun spending such a beautiful day in NYC showing my Nepal YTT friend @tinna_eyberg my fav spots in the city (and finding new places)! 💫 ••• We soaked up all the chill vibes @humming_puppy, then had a delicious brunch @bluestonelane, picked up some new wellness treats @capbeautydaily, walked the High Line, and cooled off with some gingerroot kombucha @thewildsonnyc. ••• Experiencing my go-to "wellness-y" spots through someone else's eyes gave me a new appreciation for this city. I'm so grateful to be in a city that offers a huge variety of places that are so aligned with me and my lifestyle.✌🏿❤
WHAT ABOUT YOUR "JOB" MAKES YOU SMILE? We all have work in our lives. Whether it's a professional job, organizing a home/family, charity work, managing our health or that of loved ones, often we are faced with challenges. When I'm faced with obstacles or stresses, I take a moment to reflect on what I LOVE about that part of my life. And for me - the connection with people makes me smile. _ Being an entrepreneur / solopreneur is much harder than I ever dreamed. BUT I get to do what I love - share stories, educate people about wellness, guide cancer survivors with hope and help. I love connecting with people. So, when I get a little down or stressed, I remember days like this morning where I spoke to @jocelyn_maminta and the @wtnh8 viewers about healthy living. I then went to @yalenewhavenhealth for an appointment and saw my wonderful nurses and docs. We laughed, shared stories...and did a little work along the way. _ Take a moment and think about what makes you smile when you are working...tag someone or send a smiley emoji to spread the love. _ Happy Wellness Wednesday
DONT GIVE UP WHEN THINGS GET TOUGH! • I LOVED this mornings mastermind call- I am so fired up for all the amazing things to come!!! • • While I was working at the park minutes after I took this photo ( while on my call) my son who is “mostly” potty trained went number 2 in his pants and of course there were only THREE wipes in the package. • • You see the irony here is that I just wrote down “I am organized, I am committed to organization” you see if I had been a little more organized I would have been prepared. But instead while still on the call I put him Back in his car seat and drove home where I proceeded to bathe him all while still on my call (thank goodness for mute 🤐) • • Things may not go as planned and that’s OKAY! we must learn to stay committed to ourselves and move through the obstacles in our way with grace.
