I saw this and it hot right athome for me. This is definitely another of my fears I am trying to face. Sometimes I feel like my life is too good for me, sometimes I feel like the people around me deserve more, sometimes these thoughts cause my anxiety. I've always worked hard, tried to make good decisions and be kind to those around me.  I have so many amazing people in my life now, so much love and possibility that sometimes it can scare me how lucky I am and how much I have to loose. It's easy to assume everyone has it all together when you are scrolling through your Instagram feed, but the truth is, I have always struggled with my confidence.  The NZ Photography Iris Awards have just kicked off in Wellington, and this time last year Hemi and I were speaking at the conference. I remember a day long time ago when I entered a Buddhist temple for the first time. I remember that I was suffering from severe and debilitating depression and anxiety, and my reason to have entered the temple in the first place was to find something to “fix” me. As I always did with other methodologies and techniques. I wanted it gone, possibly overnight. • • After a meditation session, one of my first ones, there was an opportunity to speak to one of the monks. I thought he would have the answer to all questions, at the end of the day he was meditating 10 plus hours a day so he should know, right? Well, so I thought anyway. • • So, there came my question for him. “Excuse me? Could I ask a question?” “How can I get rid of this horrible feeling once and for all?” • • His reply? “What you are getting today is the results of the actions you took in the past, and what you will get tomorrow will be a result of what you’re going to do today!” • • ... I remember the look I had on my face. Do you know how a deer looks like when you flash a light at it? That was me! I thought WTF? I thought it was a bunch of bullshit, that’s what I thought. Why? Because I never saw myself as being the cause for the pain I was suffering. I always blamed everyone and everything else completely removing myself from the equation. • • And yes, a few things that happened in my life were out of my control, but my reaction to what happened wasn’t. • • Eventually it all started to make sense, the penny dropped. The aha moment happened, and so on. That was one of the first moments that slowly helped me to turn my life around. • • We are designing our days, every day. The things that others caused to us can’t be removed, but the way we see it and learn to work with it will allow us to not let those things direct our lives. • • You are the architect of your life, start drawing... • • Type “AGREE” if you’re with me. • 👉🏽 Follow

Twice this week I have attended fitness sessions without the appropriate equipment. First, I forgot runners for my training session with @liznacc on Monday, then tonight my yoga equipment was in the car that my husband took when he went out. In both cases, my knee jerk reaction was “oh no! I guess I can’t go!” but my family’s support kept me going - as my brother texted me tonight the only thing to do is show up, show up, show up.  These classes are helping me as Dave’s surgery looms ever closer to manage my mental health and stress. They help me sleep, and smile, and stand upright. So, on Monday, I needed to get my daughter runners anyway, as she has now grown to the same shoe size as me, so I stopped and bought her some runners... which I wore for my session. Tonight, I could have skipped yoga, but I have been looking forward to this all day, and I had seen the signs at @oxygenmapleridge that I could rent a mat for a class. I made my class. Keana rented me a mat, and Sonja guided me through a much needed deep stretch and relaxation.  It is easier to stay home when I am scatterbrained, but I would regret it. Sometimes we just have to look ahead. Life can take some funny turns from time to time. We all have our battles. The beautiful thing is that we find out a thing or two about ourselves during these battles. It helps us to become even stronger fighters.  Thing is that there is a fire burning inside of all of us. Being near death sometimes will make us doubt that for exists anymore but let tell you it's still possible to find it. You just have to try harder than ever. Fight tougher.  Our new leases on life for those who saw their lives flash before their eyes is a beautiful thing. For many of us it caused us to look for the beauty that we didn't see before. The little things. We may struggle at first but this chapter coming up can be more beautiful than ever.  As I did something for the first time since my near life ending stroke something hit me so hard. I have still been scared. I have still held back. It's normal. However, I'm a fighter and I'm a warrior. I will conquer this just like I did tonight and the goal I set. I know I won't always win my battles but I'm blessed enough to still fight them.  I will not fall. I will fight. I will succeed. I am good enough to be loved. I am a fighter. I am a warrior. I will win this battle.  God didn't save me just for me to not put up the fight if my life.  I hope all of you continue to fight too. See there was Theresa, and maybe Ashley no Houston would be a better name but they didn't breath, i was too scared of stereotypes! It was just under 15 months ago when Robin Lehner had a panic attack during intermission of a Sabres game in KeyBank Center, left the building before the final buzzer and finally admitted to his wife and the team that he needed help. ——————————————————————————— Said Lehner in what easily rated as the sound bite of the night: "I'm not ashamed to say I'm mentally ill but that doesn't mean mentally weak." ——————————————————————————— Brave words to say in front of several thousand people in an arena and an international television audience. "It's how I feel now," he said. "A lot of people, the majority of people, are ashamed of their flaws. At the end of the day, everyone deals with something. Different issues, different pockets. There's a lot of people with some type of mental issue who have a lot of success." ——————————————————————————— Lehner has completed alcohol rehab and remains on medication to treat bipolar disorder. He revealed his story to the world in a chilling first-person account in September in the Athletic and putting together the season he did was all about perseverance. ——————————————————————————— "I've proven for one year that I'm sober," Lehner said here Tuesday. "The reality is maybe that's not that long. There's obviously a risk and reward still and it's business. Me coming out was maybe not the best business decision I made but I'll do it again.
