Please follow @instara_fitness Follow @instara_fitness By 👉🏼@iqphysique96 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I first started lifting, I would have 1 single leg day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I honestly hated this day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I would get anxious before every leg day because I knew it was going to be hard af. After learning that natural lifters make better progress training each muscle group 2-3x/week, I forced myself to hit legs twice per week. Now, instead of hitting quads for around 8 sets in that 1 session, I would hit it with around 16. That's double the volume! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Obviously I made some great progress. Eventually I just got bored of doing the same leg routine or the same rep ranges. That's when I learned about daily undulating periodization, or DUP. This is changing variables between 2 days. The most common variable to change is the rep range (and volume). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Rhea et al., 2002 even showed around 2x the muscle gains by simply switching the rep ranges between the sessions in a week. Yes, you read that correctly! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So I like to have a strength day in which I really focus on progressive overload with compound movements. Since it is very fatiguing, I keep the overall volume on strength days lower. Then, on the hypertrophy day, I focus on higher rep ranges, more volume, and getting a pump. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The concept is pretty simple, but it will help you make more gains! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you enjoyed this post, please hit that “like” button.
