So grateful for my hubby quietly capturing this moment. I love to sit and draw together with him. His tiny tongue sticking out with a face of complete concentration. His drawing has changed so much in the past few weeks. He loves to draw dragons with hundreds of eyes, funny shaped mouths totally disconnected from the body. I realized you can learn so much about the creative process by watching children draw. Every once in a while an adult will come along and say something like: “that is not a house! A house has four walls. You draw a house like this. 🏠 “ or..”but a dragon cant have its mouth outside his body” or “a face has two eyes” “you forgot to draw a nose”... all of those “Rules” we come up with are completely bogus. To a child they don’t exist. I always remind myself of that. I want to just encourage him to create what he feels, draw what he sees. Pablo Picasso once said: “All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist when they grow up.” #aglimpseatmylife#meetthemaker#raisingcreativekids#raisingcreativethinkers#meandmybuddy#sonjaillustrates#meettheartist

Big smiles here for their finished PJs. Well done 👏 They did an amazing job from the start when sewing their first pillow case, till today with their first dressmaking project: the pyjama. Meet the A L’Etage 2 Maker: Snail Pottery’s Bob Emmett studied at Ipswich School of Art and Lowestoft College of Further Education in the 1970’s, then worked as a freelance ceramics designer for various potteries in Hampshire during the 1980’s. After that he was an Art and Design technician and part time lecturer at Portsmouth School of Art (now University of Portsmouth) during the 1990’s. Bob mostly works in stoneware but is wrestling with porcelain. The translucent quality gives so many more possibilities. Glazes are matt or satin, occasionally using lustres. Snail Pottery are the husband and wife team of Bob & Andi Emmett. They produce hand thrown and slipcast functional and decorative stoneware ceramics from our workshop in rural Lincolnshire. - - #ceramics#aletage2#crystalpalace#porcelain#meetthemaker#pottery#unique#handmade#craftsmanship#handtrown
My first outdoor Fair of 2019 and I’m feeling very rusty 😬 . Can barely remember how to use my iZettle cc machine and have faffed around with my display for ages.... I’m channeling Laure of Spiral ( lopsided ponytail) to keep me focused 😁 . #vintagetreasures#vintagemarket#antiquemarket
What a beautiful start today at #nippeserbürgerfest ! Tom (@acoffeesnob) did a beautiful portrait of me doing a portrait of him. He is participating in the #24hourproject to raise funds for NGOs working for women's humans rights. For this he is sharing one portrait every hour: beautiful, isn't it?! Thank you so much. I'm happy to be part of this beautiful project! Go and see his wonderful work at @acoffeesnob :))
Shiny jewellery makes me happy - even when antibiotics are making me sleep when I should be working! This video is from last week when I was feeling more productive. Are you doing anything nice this bank holiday weekend? ✨ * * * #boldasbugs#insectjewellery#brassjewelry#handmadeisbetter
The light you see is not just sparks; it is “piezoelectricity effect” that occurs in some natural minerals such as quartz. When pressure (mechanical stress) is applied to such crystals, some electricity is discharged, causing this amber glow. There are many industrial applications of this effect, most common one being “quartz watches” which uses this piezo electricity to regulate the time. For us, it is a beautiful effect that adds more fun to our pendant shaping process. By the way, this is a sneak peek to our new collection that combines natural gemstones and minerals with resin. . . . . #resinpendant#quartz#quartzpendant#handmade#meetthemaker#piezoelectricity
