I haven’t posted in a few days because I didn’t want to come on here and be negative, but I also didn’t want to come on here and pretend everything is great and be fake motivational. Depression can be hidden behind a smile or shown through the tears. Depression can be masked by laughter or loud with anger. Depression is the meanest thing I’ve ever had to face and sometimes I really don’t think I’ll be have the strength to beat it again. This weekend was hard for me. My depression came out full force and I honestly was extremely angry. I don’t think there’s anything more frustrating than wanting to be happy and energized, but your brain is like nah not today. I slept a lot. I stayed in. I cried. I got angry towards my family. Depression isn’t supposed to cute or quirky. It isn’t a retweet or a like. It isn’t an excuse or a manipulation. It isn’t a sadness that goes away or an anger that you feel for a minute. It’s laying in bed for hours on end because you physically aren’t able to get up. It’s falling asleep at your desk because you’ve exhausted all your energy just getting to work. It’s yelling at someone you love because you’re just so angry this illness chose you. It’s saying no to hanging out with friends because you know you’ll just want to sleep off the sadness. I share this because I can. Because people I would never expect have talked to me about their diagnosis, their struggles. Because I’m not embarrassed anymore. Because I’m tired of struggling in silence. Because people you know are struggling silently. Today’s Monday. A new day. A new week. A new chance. Today is a fresh start. 💛
One thing that a lot of people easily forget when trying to gain muscle, is progressive overload! It’s one of the most important parts of making any muscle progression in my opinion. If you’re not quite sure what it is, let me break it down a lil 👇🏼 (ft @womensbest pre-workout in the pic hehe) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD: This basically means that overtime you progressively add volume, intensity and/or frequency! For example, slowly adding more weight each session, or adding an extra few sets to your exercises over time! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This allows your muscles to never fully adapt to your workouts (which you don’t want). When you become adjusted, you will plateau in muscle growth! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Progressive overload is extremely important to consider if you want to make real progress. If you’re always doing the exact same volume and weight in your workouts, chances are you won’t be making the best results! 💞🙏🏼
