NSV(non scale victory) today. I wore a pair of jeans 1 size down...and they were loose. Great start to this journey! I went down to make coffee before work and caught a glimpse of myself in my window reflection. I was so disappointed. I completely put out of my head that I was wearing a smaller size and instead focused on my stomach in these jeans. I went off the rails a bit with my eating today as a result. Not a lot, but enough to recognize that it was emotional eating. That right there is what I need to work on. Being happy in my own skin at any size is going to make this journey so much easier and it’s a thought process I’ve never adopted before. In a place where you can find balance for yourself & your lifestyle that’s sustainable. ⠀ Changing ingrained behaviors & habits takes time ⏰ & you need to integrate new behaviors slowly, have them take effect & feel 2nd nature, & build from there. ⠀ Here are 5 thing you can easily implement today in order to be healthier👇🏽: ⠀ 1️⃣ Start an exercise routine you enjoy: key word here being ENJOY😃 ⠀ 2️⃣ Eat more micronutrient dense food🥗: Instead of removing things from your diet, focus on adding things that are going to help you feel good. ⠀ 3️⃣ Stop with the extremes - detoxes, cleanses, fasts, etc: These only serve to make you shit yourself💩 or go hungry, & they’re inherently dangerous & damage your relationship with food. ⠀ 4️⃣ Prioritize getting more sleep😴: If you’re only getting 5 hours now, don’t try to jump to 8 all of a sudden. #balance 🍫🍬 I was in the OR today and was looking at the schedule in the control room. One of the nurses brought in a bag of candy and a few people picked from it. I grabbed a Hershey's and Kit Kat but I heard half the women say "oh no I can't have that I'm on a diet".And I thought I mini piece of candy is not going to derail it. The whole bag might but not piece or two. Let's be clear I really can't stand when people use the word "diet". Diets don't work. They're restrictive and make you believe there's an end. There is no end. Health is not a quick fix. It is a life long journey. And with this journey there's going be ups and downs. Good days and bad days. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the little things when they come along. Like a piece of candy a coworker is offering to brighten your day. Take it, enjoy and be happy that someone was trying to make your day a little bit better. Those people are hard to come by. I have been debating whether or not I should post this picture since it’s a little much, but decided what the heck! When I took this picture I felt proud, I’ve worked so hard to get to where I’m at today! I went from being a little stick figure (literally my step dad always called me stick) to having definition in my body. I’m nowhere near where I want to be, but I am definitely proud of the progress I have made!. So why should I debate where or not I should post a picture that makes me feel good? I started sharing my journey on this account with the hopes of inspiring others with Cystic Fibrosis to start their own fitness joinery as it has drastically changed my life and overall health. Many people with Cystic Fibrosis struggle with gaining and maintaining weight, our pancreas is overloaded with mucus preventing the release of digestive enzymes that help the body absorb food. Fitness has allowed me to gain weight/muscle. I have transformed my body and for that I am grateful! I am finally comfortable in my own skin. I am no longer disgusted when I look in a mirror, I love my body scars and all! Of course I have days when I look in the mirror and feel too skinny as if I’ve made zero progress, we all have bad days. Cela fait un moment que j'y pense. J'ai moi-même déjà lu et regardé des vidéos de témoignages, suivi des influenceuses ayant elles aussi connu des TCA. Mais bien souvent ces témoignages relatent des TCA ayant durés quelques mois, un an voire deux. En ce qui me concerne cela fait 7 ans. Ma plus longue histoire d' (dés)amour ... alors que s'il y a bien une personne à aimer sur cette terre c'est soi-même. Shrimp Teriyaki INGREDIENTS: 1 tablespoon cornstarch 1 tablespoon room temperature water 1/4 cup brown sugar 2 Tablespoons honey 1/2 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup vinegar (either rice wine or apple cider is great) 1 teaspoon minced garlic 1 - 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger 1 & 1/2 lbs medium-large uncooked shrimp, peeled & deveined 2 teaspoons sesame oil or olive oil 2-3 cups snap peas or any stir-fry veggie optional: sesame seeds for garnish DIRECTIONS: Make the sauce: Whisk cornstarch and water together in a small bowl. It will be a milky liquid. This is for thickening the sauce. Combine the cornstarch mixture, brown sugar, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and ginger together in a small saucepan over low heat. Allow to simmer while whisking occasionally. Bring to a boil and allow to boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat. Place shrimp into a heat-proof bowl, then pour half of the sauce on top. Give it a stir and set aside for 10 minutes, uncovered at room temperature. If cooking later on, you can marinate the shrimp for up to a day. Keep it covered and refrigerate. (I usually begin cooking rice to have on the side at this point, but that's optional.) Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the snap peas, then stir and cook until crisp-tender, about 3-4 minutes. Add the shrimp, then the remaining half of the teriyaki sauce. In case you also have days where you struggle to stay clear while setting your meditation practice, try mediation music with nature sounds or that have higher tones to focus on that higher beat, this will distract your thoughts and adjust your attention.
