Although we often associate farmers’ markets with warm weather temps, there are plenty of cold-weather crops at the farmers’ market to inspire fall and winter cooking, and you’ll have so much fun stocking up on hearty veggies for a cozy evening in the kitchen. Leafy greens are actually in season during the winter, along with cruciferous veggies such as broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and cabbage. Onions are an underrated workhorse. And don’t forget the Winter Squash selection! In the winter fruit selection, there is a bevy of personal favorites including, persimmons, pears, and pomegranates. Not to be missed is the citrus family, oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruits, and kumquats the cheeriest of the cold weather crops. #optoutside#getoutgetshopping#coolweather#coolproduce#marketdaysarethebestdays#smfms

Salt Fish Balls! - It was just yesterday I mentioned to @marie.cooks.words that many countries eat the same dish but have different names for them. - Today, I present.. cod fish balls, salt fish balls ..or...to some.. Portuguese fish fritters. - Salted cod fish itself is also known as bacaloa or bacalhau. This is a fish that has been preserved by salt curing and drying...hence why it's called salt fish. - These fish balls are appetizers usually found at Caribbean dinner parties. - The way I made these, I combined the fish (in small pieces), mashed potatoes, scotch bonnet peppers and green seasoning. Half the number of balls were rolled in regular breadcrumbs, the other half in panko. The balls were then baked. The panko coated balls are in the front. - Hope you're inspired! - Have you ever tried a salt fish ball? - Have a great day!
