As promised, another #thanksgivingtip on this snowy thursday, #edwarriors! This one is to lean on someone you love and trust. Make sure you have one person, whether a family member, friend, or even your therapist, that you can confide in. Even if it’s just to vent, it’s so important to have that support if you are struggling throughout the holiday. Let that person know beforehand that you may be needing extra support over the holiday and even ask them to check in on you if you feel this would be helpful. If they are there in person with you, great, but if this person is celebrating elsewhere.. like your therapist for example.. texting can still suffice. (If it’s your therapist, I recommend talking to them before the holiday about when/if it is appropriate to contact them over the holiday). Tag someone who is a support for you below! 🖤
The deadlines are approaching. The work atmosphere may be a little shakey. You just had one more client added to your caseload. And, November is not over yet 🙃. In spite of it all, we are ALLOWED to do this amazing service day in and day out. I really have to be grateful for this pretty amazing life I live because some of my clients don't live to enjoy it. I've been fortunate enough to witness communities find innovation in blight, observe beauty in chaos, and provide dignity to the dismissed. ° ° ⚡When you see the goodness in people and situations, you social work a little differently.
