A tribute, and a message about living out loud: Tuesday started rough. I thought it was a work email that triggered my mood, but my spirit was strangely unsettled. After the amazing Easter weekend I had, it didn’t make sense that I would become so emotional about work. It’s not something I often do any more. And yet - by 2 PM or so, I was a sobbing mess. Something was amiss, but I was still at a loss to figure out what I was feeling. I finished work, took a relaxing bath (and a nap), and eventually ventured out for some live music with friends at a new (to me) favorite local venue in LA. It wasn’t until today that I got a message from my son (who just happened to be up in the Bay Area) that simply read, “Pablo died yesterday.” Pablo. (@psplifff). One of my son’s former roommates. When I’d visit my son up in SF, Pablo - loud, brash, full of youth, and love and life - would always take the time to welcome me warmly, and chat me up a bit before going off to do his thing. Half the time my head would be left spinning after a convo with him. He was gonna be great, this NY kid who moved west to follow (and successfully attain) his dream of becoming a professional skateboarder. So spot on. I had no idea how “big” he’d gotten...that he’d been interviewed by GQ as an up and comer, and had forayed into the high end skatewear biz. I just remember meeting him when he was 18 or 19, always eating, always loud, always playing music (drums?) in that bedroom just off the kitchen when he wasn’t skateboarding. Living out loud. Some may look at this video and see it as split-second, hair-raising, risk taking. Exactly. I see someone living his dreams without limits. Rest Pablo. Shortly after waking up today, this became my mood. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What a lot of people don't know about me unless they have been following me for a bit is that I spent many years in an abusive relationship. As a result of that relationship, I have anxiety. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I try to do as much as I can using natural methods. I usually use L-theanine to help get me out of the attacks. It's an amino acid on which a lot of study has been conducted. Google it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today I tried to use the oils. I haven't been able to eat. I've literally been immobilized. I'm overwhelmed and there's too much going through my head. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today, sitting or laying on the couch and staring at the television is about all I've been able to accomplish. It's not a feeling I like at all. My attacks are not as bad as they used to be and for that I am incredibly thankful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I eventually made a concoction of oils that seems to be working. I'm finally going to take the L-theanine and force myself to eat something. But I'm happy I found a concoction that has enabled me to at least put some thoughts together. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I used two drops each of lavender, vetiver, bergamot, frankincense, and ylang ylang. It's a work in progress and I may adjust levels as I go along, but I do know it has helped alleviate some of the symptoms. My l-theanine tends to get rid of them entirely. I’m so glad I chose to cash in my indulgence of one chai latte a week this evening. Tonight’s tasty beverage from @roscoescoffee was super yummy! Thank you! . . So I have to admit, I LOVE a good chai latte. But I recently limited myself to one a week, and the rest of the time I drink plain hot tea. My weight has fluctuated so much over the past ten years, and my recent diagnosis of Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism has shed some light on that, and has helped me realize that a balanced diet is not something to be taken lightly. . . I’m not happy with the way I look. The number on the scale. The way my clothes fit. How I feel. Or my level of energy. So I’m controlling how many calories I ingest. I’m drinking about 120 ounces of water a day. I’m trying my darndest to cut unnecessary sugars out of my diet - I freaking cut out pie from @ourcoffeepot for the month of April, and I freaking love their pie! And I’m working on keeping my carbs to a minimum while focusing on fruits, veggies, and proteins. . . That said, this one chai a week thing is nearly killing me. So I need some recommendations. Gahhhh! How do we get so lucky to enjoy the gorgeous things that nature provides us?? I could literally sit and stare at the colorful sunrise and sunset every time we are blessed with one 💕 Honestly, seeing an occasional summer sunrise is something I had always wished about during my last job [[ya know, where I’m at work before the sunrise 🤦🏼♀️]]. Luckily, I now get the chance to catch both the summer sunrise and sunset ☺️

Healthy isn’t always visible from the outside 🙏🏼 - There was nothing physically wrong with me before. I didn’t look horrible... but I was NOT healthy or happy with where i was. - MENTALLY. EMOTIONALLY. Or SPIRITUALLY. - And that flowed over into being miserable in my body, skin, and confidence. - Once I acknowledged I wasn’t healthy, it wasn’t super easy to change. - It also wasn’t quick. And it didn’t come without sacrifice, tears, wanting to quit, or investment either. - This isn’t about abs or an end goal... this WAS about me NOT diligently caring for my mind and body God entrusted to me for this LIFE. - So I did the intimidating thing and chose to invest and to sign up for my first virtual bootcamp. - And IT CHANGED EVERYTHING. - The nutrition guidance taught me how to break free from my eating disorders and seek peace with food. - The workouts got me away from the endless cardio cycle... I became efficient with 30 minutes a day and saw more physical change than ever before. - Effectively caring for my body helped me learn to love my body in ways I hadn’t before. - The community introduced me to the BENEFIT of girlfriendships and showed me there is such a thing as a positive- I’m-with you kinda tribe. - I’ve been CONSISTENT for 5 YEARS now. - And I’m honoring and respecting the body I was given. I AM healthy. I just went live in a Coaching Info Session and told my coaching story. I started coaching the summer before I was a senior in college. In the time between senior in college and first job, you change SO much. So much growing up and [attempts at] adulting going on. You begin to really decide who and what are actually important to you. Coaching was high on my list for keeps. It’s weird how adding another job actually brought so much balance to different parts of my life. It’s been crazy how it has worked into my life as a full time student, student teacher, and full time teacher. During some of the most stressful times of my life this has been a constant blessing💕
Rest days are amazing and well deserved and needed! Even if you feel bad for not working out you have to trust the process! Rest days are an essential part of training. While they may seem like you're slacking and make you worry that you won't build strength or increase speed or lose weight, time off allows your body and mind to fully recover and grow. #restdays
