✨My expectations I placed upon people in my life, robbed me of the opportunity to get to know them for who they are as a human and at a soul level ✨ Before I truly understand what a “Generator” type was in Human Design, I used to get furious AF that my husband never sat the hell down, like straight up energizer bunny and that’s not how I roll. If you don’t know you and your partners human design type and truly understand what that means, I bet your likely working really hard to change so many things about who they are without knowing that its truly “who they are” at a soul level and this can go for anyone in your life. Human design and astrology have been enlightening tools for me, specifically because it’s given me words to relate to the experiences around me. It also truly helped me understand that I was literally giving my power away and draining my batteries by trying to change those around me. One of the best things I’ve learned from this consciousness craze, is that everyone has free will and choice. Our souls come to learn many lessons and it’s societies conditioning that has taught us to place expectations on people around us, so we can “fix” them. I took back my personal power in my relationship by letting go of my expectations of who I thought my husband “should” be and embraced and understood who he is at a soul level, while honouring who I am and how we relate together by having firm boundaries. Five things that I have worked on to change my mindset about living with type 1 diabetes: 1. This disease allows me to see life differently in the positive. It helps me remember that all of the small things that get under my skin, don’t matter. If I allow it to, it can feed hope and passion, and ignite deep convictions surrounding hard decisions. I feel the preciousness if life in my twenties as if I were in my 50’s because of its fragility. 2. I can’t bear the weight of the world, but I do want to show and share deep compassion and empathy. This life is not about me, it’s about spreading hope and healing. It has everything to do with testimony and less about personal truths. 3. Living with a relentless disease might phase me, but because I choose to seek a fervent God, I receive grace when I’m weak and hope when I am doubtful. I don’t want to live in momentary emotions, I want to live on eternal motives. 4. I believe everyone was born with purpose. With something that is a gift to others, and whether or not it manifests through our struggles or through our triumphs, I believe living impact-fully and intentionally moves mountains, not just in the physically but in spiritual. 5. We have the ability to change how we perceive ourselves, and others who have hurt us, the health we want, the scars we bear and the way we choose to overcome our burdens. Nothing is too big when we seek the greater good in Him.

I do not like using that word , " ugly " anymore. I use to look in the mirror and say this to myself. No one should be saying this to themselves. Before yoga, I was a soccer player. ⚽️ I played varsity all 4 years of High School each fall. In the winter I played in indoor leagues and in the spring/summer I played in competitive youth leagues. Oh, and I ran track too but that was mainly to improve my endurance so I could run longer and faster with fewer breaks. To say I was obsessed was an understatement. 🤩 By the time my senior year came along I was getting taped up before every practice and game and do a specific set of exercises to keep my shin splint pain at bay. My knees were constantly bruised and after every practice I sat in an ice bath to help with recovery. Then I went to college and continued playing in co-ed leagues but that wasn’t nearly as competitive and by that point I was so busy with school and waitressing that I didn’t have as much time to dedicate towards it and even if I did, none of my new college friends played soccer anyway. As I grew apart from the sport, a part of me felt...lost? I attempted to find other ways of staying in decent shape but had no fricken clue how to do anything but run which was painful 😖. Cue the vicious cycle of slowly learning to dread the gym. This was the time when I started struggling with self esteem. 😏 This continued throughout college and by the time I hit my senior year I had had enough. I knew I had to change something in order to feel good about myself again. Enter yoga. I was overjoyed because I finally could move my body in a way that felt good. I felt challenged but was able to walk away from the practice feeling better than when I started, not worse. To me, it was a miracle. Shin splints, gone. Knee pain, gone. Back pain, gone.
