So the lil one’s school had this #parentsinvolvement#project and we were requested to document down our #playsession through #photos and descriptions to be presented in school to his friends. Recently he’s been loving the #colourful#woodentoys I’ve painted for him so I set up this #invitationtoplay and #learningthroughplay session. We took our #book on #colours and tried to match the wooden toys as we flipped along the pages. Through #reading and #playing, we opened up new opportunities of learning new words such as indigo and violet. The boy already knows purple but indigo and violet may be too complex to understand now but it’s perfectly fine because it’s all about exposure. 😉 Does your child’s school have such activities too? Share with us what did you’ve done! #sgtoddlers#sgtoddlersplay
The core muscles tie everything together in the centre of the body. They are the control switch. If you flick the core muscles into the ‘on’ position, they pull all the central supporting parts together neatly and make a nice, strong, stable background for upright posture. The body is then ready for strong, precise, secure, skilled movements. These muscles are called ‘core’ for a reason. - - The fallout of a weak core present much like developmental coordination disorder. Children seem clumsy, physically unsure, floppy. Weak core muscles create emotional anxiety. It is scary to have bad control over one’s own body. - - What Kids Yoga poses to you implement to build strong core muscles? 😀 . . . . . . 📷 @weareyogaed
Today’s activity • Walk in Nature • #everydayplaywithgwen Petals strewn all over the ground, like confetti after a bash. Gwen started to pick petals up from the ground and examine them in her little hands. It was such a beautiful moment. I hope she’ll always stop and smell the roses, and enjoy being close to mother nature 💛 Do you know? Contact with nature is a source of wonder and inspiration for children, and essential to their healthy development. When exposed to the outdoors since young, they develop a lifelong appreciation for nature and wildlife.

E A R T H D A Y || Today is International Earth Day. There are many days celebrating many things which is so wonderful. We don't always share them here but I felt it was important to share this one because of it's relevance to us all as part of the Toy Library. By taking part in the Toy Library service we are choosing to reduce the number of toys that are manufactured only to be briefly used and sent to landfill. We are choosing to contribute to a sustainable way of living. Even if this is the only sustainable practise you choose, in doing so, you are helping to care for our earth and teach your children to do the same. Did you think of the Toy Library in this way? How else do you look after our earth? Artist unknown 💖 #puffingbillytoylibrary#learnthroughplay#sustainability#lookingafterourearth#internationalearthday

#lorm_crossword Prompt- Colour A child does add colour to your life. From bright coloured diapers, toys, books to different coloured body fluids.🤭 Anyways, let's talk open ended toys today. Structured play is basically any activity with a clear goal and objective. Whether adult-led or independent, it asks of the child to problem solve using logic. Free play on the other hand does not have any particular goal, other than to have fun. But it does develop speech, imagination, creativity and social skills. Consider this example. When V pulls out a peg puzzle, there's only one way to play with it. Remove the pieces and assemble them correctly. But if she were to take out animal figurines, she creates dinosaur swamps, makes up stories about deserts and Antarctica, sorts and matches animals, feeds them/ cleans them, there are a million possibilities! And, balance is the key. A child requires a healthy mix of both. One needs linear as well as lateral thinking. I'm asked this question very often on dm, so answering it here. What are my top 5 open ended toys? 1. Blocks 2. Animal figurines 3. Rainbow stackers 4. Art supplies 5. A doll/ soft toy And my top 5 no-cost open ended materials? 1. Sand 2. Water 3. Nature play 4. Scarves and dupattas 5. Kitchen utensils P.S. In the image are rainbow stackers and peg dolls from @chitrani.official , montessori colour tablets and size gradation rods. . . #ammatoday#ammatoday_toys #playmatters#lifeofrealmoms#everydayplayhacks#playeveryday#learnthroughplay#playbasedlearning#openendedplay#letthembelittle#poopsiedaises#totschool#homelearning#invitationtoplay#preschoolathome#playideas#littlelearners#montessoriathome#montessorimom#montessori#eyfs#earlylearning101

My sweet garden pixie; covered in soil, sunshine & fresh air. Remnants of an Easter egg on her face and the best of all, a genuine smile - as much as I love her squished up face smile I get when I ask her to say ‘cheeeeeeeeese’. Happy Easter Monday & Earth day 🌏💗
