Shit I've been Mia. Life is changing. Been so busy trying to get more clients and provide that it has me rethinking all of this. I love it but it's no way to provide for a family. Something will work out. I feel like this image is where I am in life, in my song. I'm belting out everything hoping that the universe finally breaks through.
Hey everyone, sorry for the delays. As you know, I try to post reviews daily, but 'tis the most wonderful time of the year, of course, and with that life, work, and family gets busy. But, from here on, expect me to post at least something, just so you know I'm alive. Anyways... Post-Hardcore frontman Kurt Travis' solo effort "Everything Is Beautiful" is unexpectedly, well, beautiful, and unexpectedly textured. Travis veers between jangly, bright pop rock and fuzzy, dense electronica and synthpop, and anchors both very different styles with smooth and melodic guitar lines. There is a great variety in style to be found here, between the different moods ad different sounds that Travis experiments with. The instrumentation is really what makes this album. Its bright, sweet, and complex, with the guitar lines swirling around, twisting together, popping, tight acoustic guitars, and dreamy synths that fill the air around you. Travis is obviously very talented in this way, and knows how to arrange and give a song real texture and mood with his playing. As well, his voice suits the music and never outshines, but instead goes along with whatever the song needs. Very little of it gets heavy, but instead stays light, melodic, and intricate. Other than that, I found that the downside of the album was, in fact, the songwriting and lyrics. The lyrics were cringey and cliched in how overly-confessional and weepy they were, and just overall weakly written. The songwriting, although containing engaging pieces of music and arrangements, lacked any complexity itself and stayed predictable and oftentimes far too repetitive and recycled. But, with it you get an intricately beautiful musical experience and perfectly composed, perfectly pleasant, unique little rock songs. Just don't listen too hard to what he's saying and where he's going. Highlights: "Overthinking", "Sword Art", "Oh Well", and "Everything Is Horrible". - 7.5/10 Comments? Suggestions? Questions? I wanna be back in your atmosphere Lay on my back ‘til the feeling’s hyperreal And my lungs begin to heal I wanna take back all the things I said Subvert the actors and actresses Make my life a movie where you’re the highlight reel. I'll never miss the opportunity to see @makariband play 💚💚 I still refuse to believe Andy was sick here because if so then he still sounds 10× better than healthy me
Being a fan of both 7” records and Dance Gavin Dance, I was so ecstatic to see this particular guy given the repress treatment along with their other main-line releases (on top of Summertime Gladness 7”, which I already own). I had no clue what these two songs had in store for me, but as it spun I realized it was so worth the long wait. . . . Possibly my final show of 2018 is tonight in St. Louis, Mo at @fubarstl . Thank you, thank you, thank you to anyone who has come out to any of the 5 tours I've been a part of this year. 2018 has been one hell of a time.
So this was from yesterday at The Wire in Berwyn, illinois! I'm posting this for the memory of one of the best days of my entire life. Kurt Travis, Brent Walsh, Makari, Televangelist, and Kyle all made a fucking rocking show. Not only did I get to see some artist that I am pretty much in love with, I experienced such a good time with my first "mini mosh pit", seeing "crowd surfing", amazing guitar solos, meeting some steller people (shout out to that guy who danced like an idiot right next to me)(I think we were the most pumped in the crowd), and most of all... Meeting every single band member who pretty much played. Shout out to Kurt Travis for making us ecstatic even though he was sick. Saying that this venue was the most wild he has ever played at....giving me a hug and taking that legendary photo with me. YOU ARE PHENOMENAL. I see you not as a celebrity but of someone with genuine soul. Thank you for rocking "Uneasy hearts weight the most" just because of us the audience requests. We all love you. Next up is Erik, from Makari. I can go on and on about how much Makari is my favorite band, but this guitarist stood out. Not only did he make love to his guitar, but he acknowledged me in the crowd and really made me feel so damn special. I hope he continues to pursue music and it is his gift. He also played as backup for Brent Walsh (a damn good singer and rapper as well). I really hope you go far. I met the writers of Makari's lyrics and got to get a backstage insight on the beautiful lyrics meaning. Thank you for lead singer Andy to chat me up and run after me to give me a hug. You're rad dude and a damn good singer. I love your voice and your writing. Televangelist made me dance and headbang like an idiot. Kyle, even though I didn't expect you to be playing...you were a surprise to me ...you are amazing. All in all, I have never had this much fun by myself. It's an experience that I really won't forget. Thank you, as I am dealing with some hard
