The holiday season typically comes hand-in-hand with a spike in coughs, colds and other such illnesses. The medical community refers to this time as “flu season”, but I think of it as “sugar season”. The first six weeks of the year seem to be the worst in terms of respiratory ailments, fevers and general malaise. And it makes perfect sense when you consider that, from October 31 through January 1, we have 4-5 big candy, sugar, cakes and cookies holidays. Halloween kicks off Sugar Season, and is followed in rapid succession by Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year’s (and all the parties that come along with them). Once my children started school, this pattern became even more evident as we could see, quite plainly, that those who consumed the most sugar were also the ones who got sick the most, especially at this time of the year. ... Söylemeden geçmeyelim: O herkesin favorisi straight-bar pushdown ne yazık ki medial başa etki etmez. 2) Diğer senaryo ise dışarıdan kollarınız yapılı ve güzel gözükse de vücuda yakın bölgesindeki o iri görüntüyü elde edememek. İşte buradaki eksikliğiniz, long (uzun) baştır. Daha önce de bahsettiğim gibi uzun baş diğer ikisinden farklı olarak omuz eklemine katılır. Bu ne demektir: overhead (başın üstünde) yapılan egzersizler uzun başa istediğimiz gerginliği verir. Bu gerginlik kastaki daha fazla motor üniteyi uyararak hedeflenen aktivasyonu sağlar. Kısacası unilateral (tek taraflı) dumbbell extension, hybrid pullover/skull crusher ve decline bench EZ-bar skull crusher bu sorununuzun ilacı olacaktır. 👂🏼Let’s talk ears!👂🏼 Otitis media is a painful condition that is defined as inflammation of the middle ear. Otitis media is the most common diagnosis for an out-patient visit in children under the age of 15. There are several types of otitis media. One type of otitis media in which fluid is present in the middle ear without the evidence of ear infection is called otitis media with effusion. Studies have shown that middle ear aspirates in children with otitis media with effusion grow pathogens only 27-50% of the time. Otitis media occurs more commonly in children because our Eustachian tube (tube that connects ear to nose/throat) goes from being horizontal when we’re young to becoming more sloped as we age. While we’re young and have horizontal tubes, it’s harder for our ears to drain. For some children, this becomes a chronic problem. Loosening tight muscles of the jaw, neck, and face can help encourage the drainage of the eustachian tube and help overcome certain, non-infectious types of otitis media.

- ▶️Foot Strength◀️ _______ I mentioned in my post yesterday that often times the kinetic chain power breaks down at the very beginning…the foot. - Why? ✅ Improper footwear: shoes are wrong for the foot ✅ Too much reliance on footwear: shoe is stiff or arch supporting so foot never gains strength ✅ Never training foot strength - Due to lack of foot strength for a variety of reasons, the inability to create and/or transfer force can be lost right at the start. - Here are a few simple strength patterns that can be done: 1️⃣ Great Toe Flexion with resistance *Sidenote: I did this with Vibram toe shoes on.  I wanted to try it out...I would not recommend it, however, as the movement into flexion was pretty challenging with the shoe alone.  I think it’s best in bare feet.  2️⃣ Supinations with Miniband on arch 3️⃣ Supination/Short Foot with Miniband on arch and strap under big toe: this ensures big toe pressure is not lost in supination) 4️⃣ Posterior Tibialis focused plantar flexion: mini band under big toes to ensure pressure is not lost in plantar flexion and supination 5️⃣ Resisted Balance and Reach with Supination/Short Foot: this can be progressed with band around ankle as shown) 6️⃣ Bent Knee Toe Raises: note good reps (early) and poor reps (last 2) 7️⃣ Straight Knee Toe Raises: note good reps (early) and poor reps (last 2) - 👍🏻 Like it? I know this isn’t my most visually exciting post, but I wanted to share an important part of my warm up process for my main leg day movements _ I’m doing something I call sensory mapping, which allows my nervous system to better orient my weight distribution.  This is extremely important for any leg movement where you’re feet are in contact with the ground or platform like a leg press (this is also the reason why I don’t wear shoes in case anyone was wondering). _ Most people don’t have good posture and this usually leads to uneven weight distribution. If you stand up straight and pay attention to the pressure on your feet feel, you may notice differences on either side. For example you may feel more pressure on your right heel compared to your left, or more pressed the the ball of your left foot, or maybe you can’t feel your arches very well.  _ These discrepancies in weight distribution are often times an indicator that not only is your posture messed up, but also that certain muscles aren’t working correctly.  _ On the outside these subtle differences usually aren’t noticeable but just imagine how big of an impact they can have internally when it comes to a heavy and complex exercise like squats and deadlifts.  _ For this exercise after I walk the bar out I get in my stance and correct posture, then I use sensory mapping to make any adjustments to my weight distribution so that it’s oriented evenly. In other words, I make sure I feel even pressure on both heels, balls of each foot, etc. Then with absolutely flawless technique I make sure I maintain this pressure throughout the entire rep.  _ This is hugely important to practice on all your sets, especially when you get to your actual working sets because even weight distribution is a huge component of encouraging your muscles to work in unison. And clearly this is crucial for getting strong af and lifting injury free.  _ You can do this with shoes on but in my experience you get better sensory

Another #transformationtuesday to represent two very different times in my life and to celebrate choosing happiness over expectations. *Sorry in advance for the long post, I guess I had a lot of feelings 😂*. I’ve had a lot of people ask me why I am in college and why I have scaled back my dressage training business in order to do so when my whole life has been geared toward being a high performance rider. I hope this will help to clarify my decisions and the path I am on now. The photo on the left was taken in the summer of 2015, minutes after my team and I had won team gold at the FEI North American Young Rider Championships. It should’ve been one of my happiest moments, but I had “only” placed 6th individually, feeling like that was a letdown to myself and others. When I was little, my only dream was to be a professional rider and trainer. I had been in the competition world of dressage intensely since I was 12, and over the 8 years leading up to that day I had worked extremely hard and experienced much success with a lot of help and support from others. I won five gold medals and three silver medals at the FEI North American Youth Championships, I won the U.S. Young Rider National Championships and Junior Reserve National Championships. Earlier that year I was selected to represent the U.S. on the European Young Rider Tour and with the opportunity to compete in Germany. But, that success came at the price of my physical and mental well-being. Due to pressure I felt from both myself and others, I began to feel that my only worth as a person was in the results I could produce. I was only as good as the last score I earned and my only value as a person was in how many hours I could work in a day. ➡️Swipe through the photos to  finish reading ➡️ P.S. Однозначно «ДА» можно сказать в случае послеоперационного назначения хирурга,когда необходимо строго соблюдать уровень сгибания. Или же если на улице -20,гололёд или вы передвигаетесь на общественном транспорте. В иных случаях вспомогательными приспособлениями стоит пользоваться продуманно и умеренно. Главной причиной почему не стоит злоупотреблять ношением отреза,это ограниченная работа мышц бедра,которые обеспечивают стабильность коленного сустава. Поэтому когда нет необходимость длительного передвижения вне дома,отрез следует снимать,так же как и во время выполнены реабилитационных нагрузок под присмотром реабилитолога. Holiday Meals, Kids, and Stomach aches  During holiday meals it is very easy for all of us, especially kids to eat a variety of food at one setting.  The holiday meal usually consists of a protein (meat source), fats (dairy, eggs, cooking oils, fruits, grains (bread, cakes, pies, cookies, etc.), vegetables, dairy (egg nog, nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, etc.), and so much more.  This variety can be hard on adults but especially on children as their digestive system continues to develop and hopefully strengthen as they get older.  Genetically we are programmed to be able to digest food with particular enzymes that are specific to us. This specificity is heavy related to the areas of the world our ancestors came from.  But with holiday meals, the idea of genetic programming goes out the door!  As a general rule with young ones: - Try kid food enzymes you can pick up at any health food store. What till they are done eating their meal then give them the enzyme to help digest food more in the middle bowel. TAKE 10-15 minutes after the meal! - Do your best to avoid mixing their starches or heavy carbs with proteins (meat source). - Don’t mix heavy fatty or greasy foods with sugary desserts. If desserts are a must then have them avoid any heavy fat foods if it’s at the table. - Mixing vegetables and fruits with proteins is easier on the digestion. - Drink more water, kid can drink 1/3 of their body weight in ounces of water to stay hydrated...water also helps them digest food. - Add a kids probiotic into their system. Take before bedtime so the stomach acid won’t affect the good bacteria.  The best results come when children stick to a more paleo type meal-meat, vegetables, and fruits. Then they have their desserts, which gives their digestive chi or energy a chance to catch up during the meal.  Take a look at these suggestions, see what you think. Во первых все зависит от степени разрыва и повреждения. Если полный разрыв,то конечно же стоит задуматься об операции,поскольку разрыв будет доставлять значительный дискомфорт. При частичном надрыве(так называемый субсиновиальный надрыв),стоит задуматься об реабилитации. Так же при повреждении мениска стоит учитывать степень и вид надрыва,блокируется ли сустав или нет. В любом случае очень важно пройти реабилитацию. В 60% случаев удаётся отсрочить или вовсе избежать операции. Но и даже если в конечном итоге результат реабилитации полностью не удовлетворяет пациента,то реабилитация в предоперационном периоде позволит сократить значительно срок восстановления после операции. Итог: если вы не профессиональный спортсмен,если ваш коленный сустав не заблокирован,если вы не обратились в первую неделю после травмы к хирургу,то можно рассмотреть безоперационный путь лечения.
