No joke... FOLLOW 👏 YOUR 👏 GUT. I took my kids to the dentist in April and I left that place ready to vomit from how uneasy I felt about everything they told me. They planned on putting a crown and fillings on this Lilli after refusing to even take x-rays without sedation. They wanted to fill Daisy's mouth with crowns and even put a filling on her bottom front tooth. The dentist we saw was so stubborn and showed no genuine concern for my apprehensions. It was all "standard procedure" she said. I decided to take my kids for a second opinion and I felt like I was on top of the world after doing so. Their new dentist took perfect x-rays for Lilli and she doesn't have a single cavity! Daisy does need some work , which we knew based on her complaints of sensitivity, but it is half as much of what the previous dentist suggested. For example there was no cavity on her bottom front tooth. I couldn't believe they would have needlessly gone through so much had I not followed my gut. I'm so grateful for finding our new dentist and I'm so grateful for trusting myself and always doing everything I can to make sure my kids have the best I can give them. It's not always easy to know the truth when you're not a doctor or dentist but with a little research and support you can make a more educated decision. Don't be afraid to ask for a second opinion. It's sad but I can't tell you how many times I've had to do this for my kids, myself, or know other people who have done this. Not everyone in their medical profession has the patients best interest as their top priority. For some people it's just all about the money. #instincts#followyourgut#america#americanhealthcare#dentistry#parenting#kidshealth#intuition#trustyourself#motherhood#momlife#healthyteeth#scarystory#healthcare#kids

Baby teeth are important for learning to speak, eat and be healthy. Once teeth start coming in, place your child's head in your lap and start brushing with a soft bristle brush and water twice a day. Lift the lip and check for signs of decay once a month. If you notice signs of decay speak to your dental professional. Continue to help your child brush until they are 8 years of age. Healthy smile, happy child. #ourkids#kidshealth#healthysmile#dentist#kamloops#sahalidental

💚What’s special about this toddler meal? 2 things... 1. 🌈It took maybe 5 minutes to make! It’s made mostly from yesterday’s leftovers . Last night we had spaghetti and marinara sauce with steamed broccoli 🥦 on the side and green salad (with shredded carrots 🥕 in the salad) . I took the extra shredded carrots 🥕 and leftover broccoli 🥦 and added them to the leftover whole wheat pasta, tossed in frozen peas from the freezer and warmed it all with a simple creamy sauce made from cashew milk, vegan 🌱 butter, onion powder and nutritional yeast. 2. 🌈It’s a nutrient and calorie rich meal—which is what active growing toddlers need. Maybe you question why add the vegan butter to the meal? You might not do this for your own meal because you don’t need or want the extra calories. But keep in mind we DO WANT the extra calories for most toddlers. Sometimes toddlers are picky and only take a few bites, so you want to pack in the calories and nutrients and give them a big bang for each bite. . . 💚Grab a FREE ebook of HEALTHY PLANT-BASED 🌱TODDLER SNACKS . . ✅Fun snacks ✅No refined sugars ✅written by a pediatric nurse 👩🏼⚕️ mama of 4 . . .👆🏼Link in bio Adorable toddler bowl by @replayrecycled
This is part of my story. 🙋🏻♀️ This is a reason why I am passionate about helping others avoid falling victim to the mentality that removing foods, food groups, and categories of foods from the diet is healthy, and it will resolve symptoms and health problems (exceptions are IgE food allergies, and potentially a few other foods depending on what’s happening). 👉🏻 I am especially sensitive to seeing children on restrictive, or elimination diets. They desperately need nutrients from foods because they are growing and developing. When nutrients are missing, imbalances develop and symptoms and health problems follow. So does a worsening of current health problems. 👉🏻 If your child has eczema, or digestive or behavioral and sensory symptoms, you’re probably very familiar with and have tried elimination diets. Food sensitivities are not the root cause. In fact the two most common root causes I see are a lack of nutrients needed for healthy skin (which is made worse by elimination diets), and impaired gut health. 👉🏻 This is why we start with nutrition (nutrition is giving the body what it needs to grow, develop, repair, function, and thrive), and restore gut health. 👇🏻 Link @jennifercarynbrand to stop unnecessary diet restrictions, NOURISH your body, resolve imbalances (like ones caused by diets, impaired gut health and STRESS) and restore your health. . . . #jennifercarynbrand#nutritiontips#nutritionfacts#guthealth#dietinspiration#foodsensitivities#eliminationdiet#digestivehealth#skinhealing#leakygut#kidshealth#nourish#stopdieting#eatwell#antidietproject#antidiet#antidietrevolution#chronicstress#stressrelief#freedomfromfood#fromfoodfearstofoodfreedom
It’s all about balance, amiright? Eat 🎂 for breakfast somedays (I actually hate cake😂, but you know what I mean), but make sure you are making healthy options more often than not. 🍒 Yesterday was #nationaleatyourvegetablesday, so I wanted to show you how I get my kids to get 30 different fruits, vegetables, & berries in their bodies within seconds👊🏼 I still work hard to make sure they are eating fruits & veggies, but we all know most kids don’t love especially most veggies. These gummies help bridge that gap of what they aren’t getting. And they taste like fruit snacks! I don’t stress anymore about them not fueling their bodies well🙌 🥦 Did you know Ada gets her gummies F R E E?!

While it is so easy to rely on butter to give us the flavor we want, there is a better way! A simple, healthy, and affordable trick to add flavor to meals is to add herbs or spices to your oil of choice and then reduce the amount of oil you use. Divide up a bushel of fresh herbs (50-80 cents on average) in ice cube trays, add oil, and freeze them to max out on flavor and get the full use out of that bundle of herbs! #tastytuesday#kidshealth#healthtips https://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/herbal-ice-cubes-111461
#pickyeatertip 1: The 10 bite rule! It takes 10-20 tries of a new food for our body to adapt and decide if it is something it enjoys. Try the same food in several different ways and several different times before giving up on it all together. Boiled brussel sprouts to stinky? Try them raw and chopped on top of a sandwich instead of lettuce or mixed into coleslaw, peel off the leaves and bake with salt and pepper for a crispy option, sautee in a pan with bacon or a honey and garlic for a different flavour! Try. Try again, and then…try again! Texture is a big factor for picky eaters, so mixing up how you offer a new food may help you find an option they love! . Comment below with a food you struggle with, and I’ll answer with some different ways to try it out! . Fun fact: did you know that when we try new foods as adults it takes 10-20 THOUSAND tries before we decide if we like it? Better to get those tastes in now! #pickyeaters#kidshealth#youarewhatyoueat#feedinglittles#eatyourveggies#eattherainbow
Love this post by @karalydonrd. It is an important reminder that not all bodies are created equal. Fatness and size and activity inclination and appetite are varieties in people just like color and height and sex and personality. . . ==== We are all different. And that is ok! . . ==== Can we better ourselves? Absolutely. Can nutrition be improved? Sure! Is weight or body shape (ours/our children’s) something we can control? No, unfortunately not, without major sacrifice. . . ==== Try to find that balance you strive for, and seek help if needed. .. .. @karalydonrd .. .. #wholefamilynutrition#haes#healthateverysize#balancednotclean#progressnotperfection#nutritionforkids#kids#kidshealth .#teenmodel #momsofteens#momsofinstagram#dietitianmom ........ ........ ........ Posted @withrepost • @karalydonrd Body diversity is real. The notion that if we all just ate the same way and moved our bodies the same way, we would all be the same size is an oppressive narrative that keeps us stuck in cycles of restriction and starvation. . This reductionist POV also blatantly ignores other determinants of body size such as genetics, social determinants of health, and the metabolic effects of restriction. . Just as we all have different eye colors, hair colors and shoe sizes, we are all meant to have bodies of different shapes and sizes. I don’t know about you but if one day everyone was walking around with the exact same body size and appearance, I’d be like that is some twilight zone $h*% and I’m out. 👋✌️ .
Do you know Diarrhoea is the second killer in the world ? One of the common ailments seen in kids below 5 years of age and yet having such an aggresive impact in our lives .. I have a 2 year old and i understand how frequently this can occur at such a tender age. Considering to be privledged, i got to attend the #happytummiesmeet by @enterogerminaindia which highlighted this issue, shared some facts and broke a lot of my myths .. Thanks to pediatrician Dr. Zinal Unadkat who shared her wisdom on simple plan of actions when your kids goes through diarrhoea and the importance of probiotic enterogermina .. Also @enterogerminaindia arranged a fun skit and healthy eating games for kids, educating them on gut bacterial growth with probiotics .. You can have a look at the details of the same on my blog link shared in the profile and next time when your kid suffers from diarrhoea, choose probiotic enterogermina for faster recovery. .. #sanofiindia#enterogermina#guthealth#probiotic#healthbenefits#meetup#medical#diarrhoea#kidshealth#healthyliving#momevent#momblogger#mumbaimommyblogger
Friends for life 💕 Remy girl has never been big into cuddling, hated being worn in the carrier and used to scream when Quinn tried to show her love. This past week she’s decided his cuddles aren’t so bad and he’s beyond thrilled about that 😆😍 He’s SUCH a cuddler. Are your kids on opposite ends of the cuddle spectrum? #cuddlesesh#siblingcuddles#siblinglove#lovelanguage
"So, how do you think they turn this (a dirty, raw, whole potato) into this (holding up a thin, crispy potato chip)?" Child slams potato down onto the table to assess its firmness. "Ummmm....they slice it up and cook it in the microwave!!!" "Mmmm, not quite!" // Experimented with a little bit of food literacy with the kids during Thera Play with Food at Ruby and Ollies All Abilities Childcare today with the goal to captivate curiosity and enhance learning about where food comes from. Today involved looking at the humble potato, how and where it is grown and its nutritional value, assessing how it looks and how firm it is before cooking, and the different processes involved between making roast potatoes and crispy potato chips (via a video which was actually quite fascinating), highlighting (in brief kid version), how this process changes the nutritional value of the whole potato. True to their nature, kids enjoyed munching on potato chips during this "lesson" 😂 😋 After that, the kids enjoyed making chocolate mousse from one of my recipes with cacao powder, avocado, vanilla bean, honey and coconut milk. This recipe will be shared on my blog later this week.
How good is this! My nine year old came home today from school not only with a spelling award, but an award for “focus during mindfulness”.... my thoughts on this.... 1- how good is it that the school are teaching mindfulness 2-so proud of my little lady for being so committed to it 3-and probably the best result, she showed me the app they use in school, we downloaded it tonight and practiced 20mins of mindfulness together ❤️ #mindfulness#proudmummy#kidsmentalhealth#kidshealth#school#familytime#health
