This is Prickly pear (Opuntia quitensis)🌵 Like other cacti, prickly pears don't have leaves. Instead, spines grow from bumps on the stem. They produce edible red fruits, which are especially popular with fruit-eating birds. They’re also eaten by humans, tasting a little like watermelon. 🍉 #kewgardens
#throwback to when we visited #kewgardens in February! I've always wanted to go see this place since seeing David Attenborough's Kingdom of Plants series, the Palm House was so cool even Andrew managed to find something he liked about #plants. 🌴🌺🦋
I’ve always preferred cactus myself. I have a rare ability in which I stare at a plant and it dies, but my faithful cactus has been with me for 6 years and counting (although I think it is currently dying a slow painful death) 🌵 #cactus#prick#kew#kewgardens#tbt#throwback
🍦ICECREAM FANS🍦There is nothing better than icecream on a hot day whether at home or on holiday. The only drawback being those pesky 'zingers' it can send down your sensitive teeth. Here's a simple tip to help. 🥰 If this doesn't work then you might have a crack or a cavity or another more deep set problem so pop in and see the dentist.
