This is the best book. Such great advice, so much knowledge, and realistic expectations. I will warn you, in the beginning it goes into depth about how food effects your body, it’s interesting, but a little hard to follow, but stick with it I promise it gets so good. I LOVE my #fab4 smoothie each morning. It sets me up for a positive day and enables me to have the proper macro nutrients to feel full and satisfied. . I’ve really taken a close look at my health this year to see what works for me. We learned in @nutritionschool that bio-individuality means everyone is different. I’m learning what my own body needs and enjoys and it is doing really well with the #fab4 lifestyle. 🥗 LIFE HACK! @pieominegreens offers online order and pick-up. I was in and out in under THREE minutes, dodging past the 4,000 kids and their parents on winter break. Moms that were there, I don’t know you, but I am IMPRESSED by you. You need a glass (or 5) of wine tonight... . I followed the @bewellbykelly #fab4 plan in creating this salad. It consists of an arugula base, lots of fiber-filled veggies, chicken (protein,) and I used EVOO as my healthy fat. Still trying to get a handle on balancing my meals well and following #fab4 but as my Dad always says, “one step at a time, Jess.”
Day 3 of this smoothie life! There is SUCH a difference (I tested it yesterday). So I started drinking this on Sunday and couldn’t believe how this snacker (me) could last until2pm and not feel hungry! I could definitely tell there were times I wanted to eat out of boredom or being used to eating at certain times. So again I am having to listen to my body. #noom So yesterday I tested the smoothie and did not make one because I “missed eating” (ha! Really!?) and I ended up snacking SO much more because I never felt FULL!! So I’m back on it today after intermittent fasting last night. Today was the day!!! I'm slugging down the infamous green smoothy. I say slugging because that is what it feels like slowly crawling down my throat. This was a really good podcast, definitely worth a listen. I've started tracking my food again using the my fitness pal app. I haven't logged my food in years -- during my pregnancies and postpartum I mostly focused on eating healthy foods (ok, and sometimes cupcakes) and getting enough calories to support growing babies and breastfeeding. Since I stopped breastfeeding the calories I need are different and the hectic mom/work schedule meant I was missing meals or eating leftover grilled cheese and chicken nuggets off my kid's plate. But logging my food and making healthy choices (many of which are mentioned in this podcast) have really started to pay off after only a few weeks. I LOVE the addition of organic frozen blueberries to my morning #fab4 smoothie! So far I’ve been loving the #bodylovevalentinesdaychallenge. It has helped me get enough healthy fats, fiber, protein, and vegetables into my meals, and my smoothie keeps me full until lunchtime. . The mental aspect of this challenge is great, too. I’m not restricting myself, limiting myself, and I’m working SO very hard on loving my body. Each day I try to move it and treat it well. . In the spirit of Valentine’s Day (coming up so soon,) I want you to look at your naked bod today. Don’t look at the imperfections, don’t examine the parts you hate, but LOVE it. Today I took a tip from @inked_and_tiny and @jbethjs (from their @socialmerk vid on body confidence,) and told my body it was beautiful. It was awkward and uncomfortable, but I DID it. The benefits, the bumps, the beauty, and the bliss - they’re all part of being well.” I love this quote from “Body Love”, I stumbled upon Kelly and her book by listening to a podcast a couple weeks ago on my way to Jonesboro to see my family. Little did I know the following week, just 3 short days later, I would be sitting in a doctors office hearing a word we always pray we will never hear. Not only did he mention I may possibly have a rare for of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma called CTCL, but that it has no cure. 😳 Talk about a hard pill to swallow and sit on for three weeks until your next appointment. The past 6 years has been a roller coaster for my health, but the amazing thing is, like the quote above, it’s all part of being well, and learning how to truly live and be well. I think one of the hardest parts for me has been my emotional connection with food. But as I have learned along this journey, good anti-inflammatory food, coupled with gut health, balanced blood sugars, a positive attitude and a love and trust in Jesus is all that I need! I’m so thankful for the timing of this book! God is good!
