This evenings tempo run was tough. During mile 2 of the progression a young boy flew by me, smiling so big I could not help but smile even though I was struggling! We passed each other a few more times as we were sharing a stretch of pavement trying to get our miles in. Each time he was smiling, no fancy shoes, no phone or ear buds. You could tell he was just enjoying his run! Little did he know he inspired me to finish my run and hit my goal 😊 at the end I saw him again and told him good job, he thanked me and told me he was running 8 @6 min pace. I could see his excitement! Inspiration comes from so many different places! As a mom of 6 I am always inspired to see kids working hard and chasing their dreams 😊 Workout: 15 min w/u Strides 1 mile @8:45 1 mile @8:30 1 mile @8:15 1 mile @7:55 10 min c/d

W6D2 // Growing pains, you guys... growing pains! Okay, not this run. This run was easy and fun this morning (I watched some of Saving Mr. Banks on Netflix this morning and just relaxed!) and did some strength training after I got home from work. But I really do love how the lessons in running really do translate to life. There are days (read: today was a day) that are more challenging; that are intimidating and require you to try to push through, and those are the days that give opportunities for growth. I’m trying not to shrink away, but rather to lean into those experiences. The goal is not to be comfortable, the goal is to move forward despite being uncomfortable and come out stronger on the other side and with more experience 😊. I’m a perfectionist and a planner, but there are so many things you just have to learn by doing, and possibly coming up short, but having gained knowledge you can utilize in the future. Anyway! Hilllllzzzz are on deck tomorrow 💪🏼 #run#runner#halfmarathontraining#runnersofinstagram#instarunners#womensrunningcommunity#runlife#runhappy#fitness#runnergirl#instarun#irunthisbody#inspiringwomenrunners
This was not a good day. I received some terrible news and I've been trying to process it. There is nothing wrong with me. It was regarding someone else. I ended up with major anxiety and OCD issues today because of it. Unfortunately stress will do that. I've been laying in bed feeling very depressed for the past few hours. Sometimes when I hear bad from news about someone else, I feel guilty when enjoying my life. I don't know. I just have to clear my head. Blessings to all. ❤️🙌
In order to get faster, you have to run faster. I hate intervals though, they hurt so much. But before I get into every interval I've developed a special mantra. I quietly tell myself, "explode Alex, just explode into it". And explode into the interval I do 💪 but there's so many moments in these intervals where your mind just says that you can't do it, stop right here, no one will know. But I will know. I force myself to take on the pain and I will grit my teeth as much as I have to in order to get it done. The tough work has only just begun...
