People who follow my Instagram stories know I've been plotting my next book, The Elementary alist: Revolutionary! I've got 3 scenes written already but could only go so far. There was still too much left to figure out. . Over the past year, I've been collecting ideas for scenes throughout the rest of the series via voice recorder as they came to me; trurns out I figured out half the plot of Book II that way, including the main plot. Now, I'm just figuring out the remaining subplots and details that tie everything together and make it work as a whole. . I "pantsed" the first book (wrote without a plan) because it helped me figure out how this fantasy world worked and who the characters were. To me, pantsing is the writing equivalent of getting to know a person face-to-face. I learn their vocabulary and mannerisms, the way their minds work...etc. It's useful for this, imo. . Now that I've got that figured out and have my eye on a broader (5-book) series, I'm trying something different to help me write better first drafts and plan ahead for the rest of the series. I've been coming up with ideas for subsequent books while finalizing the first, so I have a better feel for where the series is going. . It's outlining without an actual "outline," heh. . If you're curious about my process, check out my IGTV video under my profile @elemental.dieselpunk! . . . . . #amplotting#writingprocess#amwritingfantasy#highfantasy#fictionwriter#fantasynovel#indieauthorsofinstagram#fantasywriter#fictionwriting#fantasystory#fantasynovels#adultfantasy#fantasybookseries#writingfantasy#indieauthorsofig#darkfantasybooks#writergoals#fantasyauthors#adventurenovel
Happy new week lovelies! . . . To kick start the new week, here's a question for you: what exhilarating adventures are you planning on writing about? . . . Comment below what you're working on right now. . . . @gigglegirlediting.......making your work stand out!
Welcome back to everyone who has joined the #indieauthormarketers follow loop. ✨ If you're new to this group, please feel free to introduce yourself in the comments and join the conversation. I also recommend that you read the replies to last week's post (Week 2) and leave a comment. ✨ I've found most people in the indie community to be incredibly generous and kind when it comes to sharing information, resources and experiences. ✨ In the two weeks this group has been running, I've already gained some helpful tips and insights into marketing strategies that may be applicable to the launch of my own book later this year. ✨ The intention of this group is to build a network for sharing information. Which is why this week's question is "What is your marketing weakness?" Please share your responses in the comment section because you never know who in the group might be able to help you. ✨ For me, my weakness is my own sad relationship with technology. I readily admit to being a terrible millennial - I'm hopelessly faking my way through social media and struggle with interfacing so much with my phone. I'm slowly getting better, but I feel like it's always another mystery to solve. How do I repost? How do I connect my FB and Insta? How do I get links in my bio? How do I keep track of my followers? How do I know if I'm being effective? Being so under confident makes marketing myself online exhausting, but I know it's worth the struggle of making myself do it! ✨ Now, over to you. What is your marketing weakness? ✨ #indieauthormarketing#indieauthor#indieauthors#indieauthorsofinstagram#indieauthorsofig#indiemarketing#authorsofinsta#authorsofinstagram#authorsofig#writersofinsta#writersofinstagram#writersofig#authorfollowloop

“You know,” he said on a deep breath, lying comfortably on his back. “It’s not every man who can swing dance with a girl a n d hold a lit incense stick at the same time without setting her hair on fire.” . That made Piper laugh. . “Got a coffee cup?” he asked. “Probably best not to tempt fate again.” . This marks the official introduction of my antagonist, t h e g u y of my current novel-in-progress.

Ten favorite characters: 1. King Arthur 2. Elizabeth Bennett & 3. Fitzwilliam Darcy from Pride and Prejudice 4. Louisa Clarke & 5. Will Traynor from Me Before You 6. Alyssa Macaulay & 7. Rowan Sheridan from Talisman, book one in my soon-to-be-released paranormal romance series 8. Sidney Carton from A Tale of Two Cities 9. Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series 10. Eloise Kelly from The Pink Carnation series The King Arthur legends inspired my interest in the Celts and Celtic culture, which led me to write my paranormal romance series based in Celtic myth. King Arthur features in my stories as well. Elizabeth and Darcy’s love story sucked me into romance (and comedies of manners) from my first read way back when I was in high school. Louisa and Will’s story tore my heart out. Me Before You is one of my all-time favorite reads. Sidney Carton is the quintessential hero. He single-handedly makes the book. Hermione is the most resourceful, intelligent, and fun character in the series. And Eloise Kelly’s interest in the identity of the Pink Carnation had me impatiently awaiting the release of each of the nine books in the series. Literary characters truly do become real in our imaginations. #tenthingschallenge#ilovereading#ireadromance#indieauthorsofinstagram#writingcommunityofig#authorssupportingauthors#romancereader#writingromance#romancewriter
HOW I GOT THIS #scrape: Noon hit and my American stomach had been eyeing the clock for a good hour now – positively starving for some kind of nutrition beyond the creamed and lightly sugared cuppa teas I’d been drinking (by then, it’d been at least three). I also had a conference call coming up at 1. I figured I could bring my laptop with me and make it a working lunch since I’d need to prep before it a bit more anyway. Plus, it was a lovely excuse to be out of the office for longer than the typical half hour lunch. This, by the way, was one of the number one disappointments I had here: I thought for sure we would have long, #siestalike lunches like you might do in Spain, or – as I imagined – in Italy, Greece or any other fantastic #european country like that. Wasn’t that one of the biggest allures of living in Europe? Breaking with the traditional rat-race speed of corporate America and enjoying things that matter – like friends, loved ones and lovers. Not so. Here at Nedhow – in its manufacturing culture – lunch was a nearly strict thirty minute break before anyone started wondering where you were. Just enough time to scurry to either the mall or the nearest town by foot, stand in line, purchase food, and rush back just to eat at your desk. Quite similar to America – except there you would drive. People drove here too, but probably half opted to walk with their colleagues as opposed to hop in their car – even in the cold, driving or misty rain. On this day, I paused to go in @CostaCoffee (UK’s preference to @Starbucks) to do a little wrap-up work after my conference call was over. It was certainly a welcome change of scenery from my familiar office desk. Little did I know, some odd force of nature was also about to hit. Lee-Anne messaged me on Lync (what is now @Skype for Business): “Hey Andrea, just wanted to check on you, there’s a weather bomb coming through right now – it looks pretty bad. Just wanted to make sure you were

1. @beverly.brinkman is a wonderful person who gave awesome feedback and enthusiastic support. If you’re wanting good author connections here on IG, check her out. 2. SOMEONE LIKED MY BOOK. It’s a quirky, niche audience sort of story that I have been and still am worried about how to connect with the people who will enjoy it. But I’ve found one of them! 3. Framed is available on Amazon (link in bio) so if you think you’d be interested in a New Adult cozy suspense about mental health and secrets, check it out!
It’s officially summer here in #thepeg—long sunny days, walks along the river, #sargentsundae, festivals, and all the beauty of heat-soaked Winnipeg. . I’ve been laid off the for the summer (yay teacher life!) so I’ve got a bit of time on my hands, and lots I want to accomplish. Here are a few summer goals! . 1) Finish my rough draft of Book Two (the sequel to Shards of Law). I’ve got a lot of people anxious for the continuation of the series but it’s frankly been some poor writing months. I’m hoping to make up for lost time this summer! Hold my toes over the fire people! If I’m not writing, give me coffee and lock me in my loft. 😜 . 2) Read several books. I want to pick up some slack in this area. See a previous post for my TBR stack, but Brent Weeks, Patrick Rothfuss, M C Joudrey, Susanna Clarke, and Cixin Lui are waiting (among many others). . 3) Start editing Book Three. The rough draft is already done, but I’d like to start working on brushing this one up. . 4) Start jogging. This is an extremely ambitious goal for me. I have never been a runner. I used to be more fit, but injuries sidelined me for years. As I grow older, I’m becoming more aware of the dangers of not exercising. So I’m looking to ease into running 5k by the end of the summer. Wish me luck! . 5) Rest. All these goals are work, but the best kind! So I’m really hoping to enjoy this time off, get the most out of every day, and find some deep rest. Ultimately for me, I know this means lots of time in meaningful prayer and attentiveness to God. . . . . . #indieauthor#indieauthorsofinstagram#writinglife#writersofig#writerslife#writersofinsta#winnipeg#wpg#amwriting#amwritingfantasy#summerlife#summergoals#summergoals2019#fantasy#epicfantasy

Touch of Promise is book 3 of 4 in The Collectors Series and released TODAY! This is a slow burn reverse harem romance and quickly became one of my top RH recommendations. Thank you to Autumn for allowing me to join the ARC team! If you have followed and loved Adele and her harem thus far, be sure to grab book 3 today! If you haven’t, go grab Touch of Regret (book 1) right now! What are you waiting for?! Happy Release Day!
It’s that time. The final #june19writingsprint is here. Congratulations to all who supported, participated and/or was able to put in work. You guys are awesome 😎. Post your final sprint word count here. . Admin rules: . 1. Follow the #june19writingsprint hashtag so you can stay up to date. 2. Feel free to invite others to join in by reposting these images + script + hashtags. 3. There’s no pressure to follow the host @lawrencehallauthor but if you do, I follow back. Writing Sprint rules: 1. CHOOSE DATE(S)/TIME(S) + REMOVE ALL DISTRACTIONS - At the time/date that you have chosen to participate in + before you begin, check emails, social media, go to the bathroom, get a drink, pick some music etc. Have all this ready before you begin writing, then turn off your phone and disconnect from the internet. 2. KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO WRITE - Have a single paragraph description or breakdown. If you are a Panser then have a general idea of your scene(s). 3. START THE CLOCK - Set the timer for 30 minutes then write as fast as you can go without sacrificing quality. Don't crank out gibberish, but push yourself. Don't worry about editing. 4. RECORD THE RESULTS - Return to the post and write down your word count. Congratulate all who participate. . A writing sprint is when several of us begin at the same time and write uninterrupted for half an hour. At the end of the sprint you return to the thread and post your word count. Then we all pat each other on the back and do it again another day 😁. . You will be highly motivated to write your a$$ off for that 30 minutes when you know you have to post your result, and even if you’re last, you’ll still have moved your wip forward. We’ll all be accountable to each other. . Let’s work people! 👊🏽 . #june19writingsprint#writersofinstagram#indieauthorsofinstagram#writer#writers#writerscommunity#writersofig#writerslifeforme#writerlife#writersunite#writerswrite#writerofig#indiesareworthit
