Homeostasis is maintained when peripheral organs (“the body”) collect sensory data and forward it to the processing center (“the brain”), which organizes and prioritizes this data, generating action plans. These directives are then conveyed to the body, which executes them. It’s the balance between bottom-up physiological mechanisms and top-down psychological mechanisms that mediates homeostasis and guides actions. Our idea is that this balance between physiology and psychology can be “hacked” by training the brain to deal with exposure to cold. This is a very interesting trick – and we believe the brain changes that occur extend beyond just cold tolerance. Read more on staykoel.com
Well, it’s official [almost! I signed up!]. In June I will be getting certified to be an @xptlife coach. I absolutely love my work as a fitness, nutrition, & business coach and that isn’t going anywhere. 😎 - But I’ve also becoming extremely passionate about breathwork, mindfulness, mental health, & recovery as well. I’m always looking to grow & this is DEFINITELY pushing me WAY out my comfort zone .. so with those feelings my gut said I should go for it 🙃 - Excited to bring some local community events together & teach others the power of breathwork & mental strength. - Nervous & excited!
You can see by the oximetre on Naomee, we are giving our cardiovascular system a good work out by going from fully saturated to low in oxygen in our blood. Bit like getting ready for higher altitude low oxygen. 💪We can explain the science on here but that can get a little confusing. If you would like to know please contact me or ask at the next workshop!

Over the past year I’ve been working a lot on personal growth, mindset, therapy, mindfulness, etc. As I get older I learn that mental strength is just as important [if not more important] than physical strength. I’m all about learning how to better myself everyday and really learn how my body can THRIVE not just survive. Which takes learning breathwork & recovery. My favorite part of this ice/heat session is the MENTAL challenge & learning how to self regulate. My coach in the video, Amy, said it perfectly as we were getting ready: “Whether you are in an ice bath or in a stressful situation in life, you have to be able to self regulate. We have to connect to our bodies and learn to befriend our nervous system.” 3 hours later and I’m still cold 😂 but my body feels amazing, my soreness went down, & I know I’m getting stronger as a PERSON and constantly pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Really loving ALL areas of HEALTH 💕💦

Home • From Thailand last week and into the Thredbo River this week. I love it. The jet lag had hit so I’m back to mastering my mental resilience with a swim in nature, lots of breathing & exercise. There’s no place like home. And winter is coming 💥 • 👉 awesome session this morning and photography 📸 @tomhoy_

As newborns, we enter the world by inhaling. In leaving, we exhale. (In fact, in many languages the word “exhale” is synonymous with “dying.”) Breathing is so central to life that it is no wonder humankind long ago noted its value not only to survival but to the functioning of the body and mind and began controlling it to improve well-being. As early as the first millennium B.C., both the Tao religion of China and Hinduism placed importance on a “vital principle” that flows through the body, a kind of energy or internal breath, and viewed respiration as one of its manifestations. The Chinese call this energy qi, and Hindus call it prana (one of the key concepts of yoga). A little later, in the West, the Greek term pneuma and the Hebrew term rûah referred both to the breath and to the divine presence. In Latin languages, spiritus is at the root of both “spirit” and “respiration.”
