Are you a morning person? Practicing yoga during the morning offers you a way to clear the mind and get the body ready for the day. Mornings are also the coolest time of the day and that makes it the perfect time to sweat it all out 💦 . Today we’re bringing you The Pose Of The Week by @_yogasquirrel_ to help you start the day with the best energy. Follow her tips to get Gomukhasana in your daily practice 👇🏻 . Gomukhasana •From cross-legged sit slide right knee on top the left, stacking tightly with right heel on the outside of the left hip and left heel to the outside of the right hip. •Press both sit bones equally into the floor, if either of the sit bones doesn’t touch the floor, use block (or multiple blocks, a bolster) to elevate the sit. •On the inhale reach your arms high, exhale bend the right elbow and slide the right palm down your back towards the place between your shoulder blades. You can use the left hand to gently encourage the right elbow back and towards the centre as the palm slides lower down your back. •You can stay there or internally rotate the left arm, bend the left elbows and bring the left hand to meet the right on your back - either clasping the hands, a belt or a clothing you’re wearing. •From there on the inhale lift out of your waist and lengthen, then exhale lengthening the belly, fold forward. Stay for 5 breaths. •Repeat on the other side . . 🧘🏻♀️ . . . #phantai#morningroutine#yogaaddict#dailyyoga#morningworkout#yogaworkout#fityogi#homepractice#mandalayogamat#transformyourpractice#myyogalife#yogainspiration#yogamotivation#dailyyogapose#poseoftheday#yogaholic#yogagirls#yogapose#igyogis#yogisofinstagram#yogaselfpractice#yogaathome#yogalondon#ukyogis#yogaforall
We’re not just moving and breathing here. We’re observing. We’re acquainting ourselves with the default responses our minds make during ease and difficulty. We’re creating space and moving into the space and checking out what is there to see. We’re exploring, we’re asking questions, we’re testing possibilities. We’re journeying on our own but together. The physical choreography is easy, the concentration to keep the awareness inward, extremely challenging. You know that the work is all on you. It’s fun but it’s also tasking and then it becomes wonderful when you realize that the hour has passed and you have 2 minutes to melt into your mat to relish the rewards of your hard work and it feels good. Super good. Then you open your eyes and you get on with the rest of your day feeling better about yourself because you know you did your homework. Tomorrow we do it again, as usual... on our own, but together. Come practice with me at @yoga_philippines MWF, 7am. ❤️❤️❤️ . . . . . . #yoga#health#heart#fitness#exercise#ashtangi#mat#pose#practice#asana#play#primaryseries#stretch#balance#om#namaste#homepractice#love#workout#strength#core#igyogis#yogaphilippines#vinyasaflow#gentleyoga
Sometimes, when you revisit your yoga practice for the first time in months, it doesnt really look like straight yoga. It looks more like sitting and breathing for 10 minutes, crying a whole bunch, writing, flowing and dancing, a few minutes of actual yoga that some how turns back into flowing and dancing again, thinking about your ancestors and your descendants, and for savasana: laying on your back and staring at the tree out your skylight window as it starts to rain.
After yesterday’s post people were asking me how to work towards a headstand. Here’s how I teach my students to headstand in a safe way that is consciousness of the cervical spine. Use your forearms, shoulders, and core to support you. Let go of any momentum kicking in this inversion to build true and anatomically safe strength. 🤟🏽
Yoga energizes, not exhausts. It gives us back energy, not drain us of it. It stimulates your cells, not fatigue them. It’s counterintuitive sure but aren’t most fascinating and fabulous things in life? When you’re tired 😓 and not feel like it 😒, that’s when you most need it. ✔️Snippet from today’s headstand galore practice.
“You have to get to a point where your happiness doesn’t shift based on the actions of someone else.” 🗝 You, and only you, are responsible for this. Inspired to work on one arms again after getting some tips over the weekend. Always in the the process of learning when and how to react in order to remain steady. Self observation and evaluation are everything.💘#practicepracticepractice

Life moves so fast sometimes. Some days I'm barely home long enough to eat, shower and sleep, so my mat stays rolled up in the corner, patiently waiting for me. I'm coming back. Te prometo. #yogaathome#homepractice#mandukaprolite#yoga
🙏🏻You will make the world a better place if you make yourself a better person. 🙏🏻And Opening Hips make me a better person. Some quick hip love 💕 for closing sequence after a wonderful yoga 🧘🏻♀️ practice ...
One thing I’ve re-evaluated over the past few years is personal practice. I no longer just practice to figure out what I’m going to teach. That’s choreography, and too daunting and demanding for real consistency. This is a glimpse of my practice, when I practice at night: 2 props, 3 poses, and pranayama, in 10 minutes, because sometimes that’s all I have. And it absolutely informs how I teach, because the way you do one thing is the way you do everything. Teachers-let the time spent on your may be spent well:) #katonahyoga#consciousembodiment#homepractice#yogateacher#plowpose
Tamir Rice would have been 17 today. He was murdered. It is fucked up and without justification. There is a reason, and that reason is white bodied supremacy. ⠀ ⠀ Everything I write below is for the people who follow me who have white bodies. If you are BIPOC feel free to read and correct me if you feel called to do so. Or maybe just take a breath and move on with your day. ⠀ If you are white bodied, read this. Consider opening your heart when you read. Feel it. Do the work to balance love and pain. ⠀ Tamir was murdered at age 12 by a 26 year old police officer named Timothy Loehmann who shot Tamir in a public park as he was exiting his still moving patrol car. In less than 2 seconds from driving to already having fired. You can and should watch the video. ⠀ The police waited 4 minutes before beginning first aid. They tackled and handcuffed Tamir’s 14 year old sister. They threatened to arrest his Mother if she did not “calm down.” Tamir died the next day. ⠀ ⠀ What is happening here? White bodied supremacy creates responses in our bodies. We do not admit they are happening. They are sanctioned by the state. When we avoid feeling it we are telling our white children it’s ok, we are telling ourselves that it’s ok. Generation after generation. ⠀ Timothy Loehmann’s white body murdered Tamr. His amygdala, the “lizard brain,” acted and then the thinking brain took over and justified it. The whole event was sanctioned as within reasonable standards and expectations of behavior. ⠀ Not to me. ⠀ ⠀ Staying with HOW WRONG THIS IS is the only way to create change in our bodies. We have to invest in body-based practices and consistent, intimate, emotional, HONESTY CENTERED processing to re-train ourselves. We have to recalibrate our nervous systems by PAYING ATTENTION. ⠀ ⠀ WE have to do this work. Not Black people. Not Tamir. Us. ⠀ ⠀ Waiting, not being ready, “protecting” ourselves from feeling, or our children from feeling the
The body is not the Real you, howewer it is the bodily temple therefor it is Holy. It is your Duty to preserve it, keep it healthy as much as possible. When I say the body is an illusion I do not mean to negate the body as your temple, to not preserve it , care for it. I mean, do not think that is all there is ❤️ -RA #yogahome#practice#homepractice
Slow and steady on a rainy day... 🖤 Flowing into some #pinchaplay. On a side note, I’ve been having some issues with my IG a lot lately. Reposting because hashtags don’t work, getting very little ❤️ because my posts aren’t being shown on feeds as much.💫 It reminds me why I started my account. To keep track of my progress and share my love for yoga, art and photography. But most importantly, because I love connecting with other like-minded beautiful souls like You. I’m inspired by so many amazing people and it motivates me to share my journey.💫 So tell me, what do you want to see more of? Pictures or videos? What would you like to read more about? Yoga journey or motherhood? Comment below or PM me! I’d love to know! ❤️❤️❤️ _ #yogavideos#pincha#gazeshift
I'm still processing my wonderful weekend at @heartlandyogafest 💕💕💕 It felt like such a culmination of all things. Wind, rain, and sun / work, rest, and play / connection and reflection/ joy and greif. 🌬⛈☀️ A lot bubbled up for me - incredible gratitude for how far I've come but also deep realizations how how much more work there is. I haven't quite had a moment to sit down and sort it all out, but believe me, it's on the agenda for this coming weekend. 📖✒🧘🏻♀️ Even so, I cannot say thank you enough to @laurenleducyoga , @feudwithfood , @theyogihairwizard and the whole #heartlandyogafest team for putting this event together and giving us all the space to take what we needed. ❤💜🧡💛💚💙🖤
